You don't live in a van. You sleep in a van and live outside with a purpose. Without a purpose it matters not where you live or sleep. A van is a mobile home. If you're lonely in a van you're lonely in a unit, house or mansion.
Such nice words. I am touched. Often vanlife is for a period. Safe money for traveling the world or get a better chance of a flat. Back home in Norway is preatty tough because the winter is so hard. Most of the vanlifers do it in warm areas. I am wrong?
Until you have been homeless on the street...carrying your suitcase every where you go...holding a job...a van is an absolute luxury...a place to hold your stuff...a place to sleep...hell yea! Van Life is Awesome! You dont get rained on...or have people walk by and stare at you as you sleep on the concrete...its all perspective...I worked my ass off completely homeless...to earn my van...Im so happy now! I sleep by the beach for cool breeze...key to van life is...go north in the summer where the weather is cool...jobs are plentiful...and van life is normal...go south in the winter...where the weather is cool an warm...live on the summer money...get a part time for extras...and prepare for summer north again...its a great life!
Comfortable living. Is staying warm or cool. Eating haveing a full belly is another. Sleeping comfortable is another. Indoors out of the elements is plus. Being able to to break free of bull shit is a comfort. Being alone is a pc of cake after being around my family ive been rob by them money was the start of it .you learn to avoid them, then your rob of what love for family can be, naw thiers far worst thing's than being alone. Its your mind you must please. Staying comfortable is staying away from my relative's. They want what every one else has even tho they have plenty. They dont care if they put you on the street. I fear my family like the grim reaper. They come for what you have .if you dont have nothing they don't come. Yea being mobile is being able to survive. Staying low key is also survival. But make sure in your van all is legal for the road if not the system will have you in court for what Else you have. Teach a man to fish he may always be able to eat fish. Teach a man to fear the system he can survive . No license no fish hungry or not. When your fishing for your hunger. Throw lines are best tied off at the bank not in your hand. If its not in your hand your not fishing. Observation from a distance is better. The system is watching you they want anything you have that mere van you call home they will take it dont stay in one place to long the rich pray on the weak. Just like the lion prays on the weak or youngest. YEA its real .stay safe stay real observer your surroundings no matter family, government, friends thier all takers. Being real is survival. lonely is in your mind. Love yourself first, someone else second, never never never let your guard down. Seriously fuck the rest. If you dont thier gonna well you be on the street.
You are comparing Apples to Oranges. Both can suck. Don't think because your life sucks more, - that van dwelling does not suck. My van life is OK, but IJS.
I'm so glad I watched this to the end! Initially, I was going to comment and ask you while you're living in a van if you hate it so much hahaha, and then, you changed direction and it all made sense.
This is a great video and good advice. You sound like a man who's gained a lot of wisdom along the way. You seem like a very likable person who anyone would enjoy talking with. I will pray that God will be with you.🙏❤
LOL, I have watched numerous videos of people selling stuff off and living in or out of a van. Very few of ones that told of the negatives. You are hilarious. I like how you turned it around and talked about a purpose. What life's all about.
What in the world is this man chewing on ? That is so annoying I keep waiting for him to spit out the window. Can’t focus on the message here for the chewing
Amen Brother! That was a great message and so true! I watched the entire video at first I thought you were giving up but realized you had an awesome message! I will be living in a van soon and your right about getting out of your comfort zone any way I could ramble on but just wanted to thank you for a great video! Peace & Blessings!
Appreciate your video, God bless you also. I had a older man, a few weeks ago literally take my heart out my chest, spit and stomp on it. I was up in Stockton CA, from southern California working. I was parked at a Walmart and step out of car to put my other shirt on. I see an older man with a Dodge Caravan like one I had. He's putting ice in a ice chest. I go up to him and say good morning. He says good morning. I say how you like your van, does it have the 3.3 engine in it? He says, WHERE ARE YOU GOING WITH THIS CONVERSATION😠 I said oh just wanted to talk about the van, but God bless and walked away. He says something like F you, get the F out of here. I was tempted to do something, but left him in God's hand. I'm a nice, cool guy and will continue to be. Not gonna let nobody stop me from being me.
@@dukeallen432 Dear Sir; your are drunk on your anti God ideas; and trying to teach a drunk person is like trying to get a dead possum to move. Have you ever actually studied a bible? Not just read it front to back {which I also imagine you have not done} but actually studied right down to the meaning of the words in their original language. That is how you learn about God and get to know him. He already knows each one of us; but if we choose to not know him and to push him away, what do you actually expect him to do for you. The bible will reflect back to you what you believe. That will not make sense to many people; but there are many who understand this. If you have preconceived ideas you will confirm them in the bible. That is why you need to forget what you think you know; and ask God to show you what he wants you to know about him. But to be specific and more simple; God asks us to believe on His Son; and ask daily for forgiveness of our sins. Do you know what sin is? It is the failure of us to obey his simple 10 commandments. But we are unable to obey them alone. That was the mistake the Israelites made at the foot of the mountain when Moses had just led them out of Egypt. We need to ask daily for Jesus to enter our hearts to strengthen us to overcome sin. But this is not a suitable place for teaching bible things and people did not come here to read it. But if we {you ; me; or anyone} is not prepared to ask daily for Jesus' spirit to enter into our hearts which is the biggest thing God asks of us { John 10:9. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. } {John 14:6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. } then what do you expect God whom you reject to actually do for you? God gave you free will to love him or to reject him. You have rejected him and then complain because he gave you the freedom from him that you sought. You throw out generalizations about cancer and starving people like it is God who caused it all or God's fault it exists. What have you or anyone done to show obedience to what God asks of us. God made a perfect sin free world with no sickness then Adam and Eve chose Satan over God which we then inherited that nature of rejecting God; and then without coming to God first you want to blame him because he is not turning around what Satan has done to the world and everyone and everything that is on it. You will go on hating. Others will think whatever they wish about my reply. But blessings to those who understand what I have said.... short and incomplete as it is.
Hermione Gardener /five days latter it was your farts that were coming from you permeating your complaint box with wheels . Minister ha ! Jonestown mark two .
There's a lot of wisdom to be unpacked from this video, I almost skipped past it shortly after starting it, I'm glad that I didn't. Thanks for Sharing this.
I almost stop watching it because I feel the way you were talking about in the end it's all perspective! I'm glad I watched the entire show great message
WESTSIDE WESTCOAST He just has a unique way of getting his message across. If you didn't watch the entire video, you should. He gave several suggestions as to how to enjoy life living in a van. Give him a chance. God bless you
I was sitting here sad. Going to try van life in three months scared outa my wits, afraid I will be too sad. Hoping I will remember the old me that was bright and adventurous and lived in a sailboat for a year. I think I will tuck you in my pocket for those moments.
Ive been going through a rough time for a long period- 6 years. Ive been depressed and anxious for that long. And i just wanna LIVE and be happy, mentally. And I feel this- and being my own therapist- is the way to go. This almost made me cry because its so true. I just need to get outta my own head and out in life. Thank you for spreading this good word.
To anyone that cares or has responded. I'm doing a lot better now. I can drive which was my biggest set back. I have an amazing boyfriend who's helped me with a lot in life, we've lived together for two years. I actually have good friends now and see them pretty regularly. Job could be better but at least it pays the bills.
Oh man you had me laughig so hard!!!! Mr James Daniel, you put a smile on my face today. Thank you so much. Powerful message. Alot of wisdom. I feel your pain, I love your enthusiasm and I admire your peace. Thank you for sharing that.
OMG I knew it was coming lol only reason i watched the whole thing , keep living the life that sucks , I want to live that bad life myself God Bless you a new sub here i am stuck in a wheelchair but travel everyday to different places and learn more things,,I travel with all my friends on you tube in their adventures
Iva: I have a friend that is wheelchair bound. He went back to college, moved across the country, started a business that took other wheelchair people on outdoor sporting adventures all around the world. Go live the life you want to live so bad. Take the first step. You can do it. Just start thinking about what it would be like. Then research what it would take to make that first step. Then find creative ways for you to take that step.
ho man, every minutes, every seconds i wanted to stop your video...... but i kept watching, listening.... and you know what, this video should be on every youtube channel that treat 'van / rv freedom' !! thanks for everything, you brought me back on earth and i hope many others will
I love talking to genuine people that I meet when out and about and you seem incredibally wise and genuine! Cheer up, okay? You are loved and appreciated!
New sub here. I loved your message and at the right time in life "going thru a divorce and dealing with depression". Thank you for saying exactly what I needed to hear. God bless and live well.
I am so thankful I continued to watch and listen to this video. You have shared such words of wisdom and inspiration that should lift the Spirit of so many. Your message is a real treasure and blessing to me and, hopefully, to many others.
Very true. I don't live in a van, but a tiny house, on a property that I farm. I only sleep or prep food in my house, and spend all day outside doing what I love. I've been farming by myself for three years and a purposefully hermit. I did so because of bad relationships in the past, but now I realize what you just said, the anger towards not having grows and eats you to where no one wants to be around you. It's important to leave your security and openly enjoy other's company or hobbies without judgment.
Preach brother, PREACH! Man oh, man...this was such a mix of emotions video! I literally laughed, cried, empathized, and reflected on my own journey in life. We are put on this earth to be kind and helpful to each other...to contribute. Thanks for your ceremonial contribution. Blessings and keep it going!:-)
this video taught me one thing: be patient and listen to someone COMPLETELY before forming an opinion. Thank you for making the video ;-) I always enjoy a wise guy with insight in life ;-)
raul aleman LOL!!! Those are the things my mind tells me when I’m depressed. I got a good laugh out of hearing them said out loud and how ludicrous they are.
Man, I have watched this video twice and man you make great points and did an excellent job articulate this video. I wateched several videos the last few months and I must Amit your video stuck with me, especially the part about not staying in your van. Thanks and continue to post these videos
boy you had me at first. But man you are spot on. I tell people the same thing with house, apartment living. It's just a roof. Life is lived under the sun and moon. ty for the inspiration.
Hahah I love your personality, your sarcasm and humor is on point! The beginning of this video was so well done to set up the message for the rest of the video! You are a one of a kind story teller!
I drove semi OTR for appx 19 and a half years seen the sights some very beautiful some very ugly.In 2015 I was in a serious accident,i was out of work for appx 11 mnths,However I had bought a 1986 ford E250 Turtle top camper van,i lived in it for appx 4mnths of the 11 mnths recovering etc...slept at walmart, parks, even at my Church parking lot showered at truck stops....anyways I just wanted to say for those who are Going through a rough patch "Stay calm and trust God" He is the way maker when there is no way.Just ask for him to direct your path and supply your needs,he is faithful. As for me im recovererd and pulling a rockbucket 5-6 days a week ,ive upgraded though now im in a 24'bumper pull camper! Thanks Mr Daniel for your inspirational video,May God bless you and yours
All these new people coming out thinking living out of a van is so great and all but truckers have been doing it for decades. 38 days on the road, eating sleeping driving in a truck, showering in truck stops and all the while alone cause no sane woman would want to do join. BUT atleast thats a truckers job. Want to live in a vehicle? Get your class A cdl and do it, atleast you'll be paid
Well , I lost my home and I cannot afford a class A. Its funny , when I told people I was moving into a van or camper, they oh no , you shouldn't yada yada... Now Im saying Im getting a used van and I am going travel..the people....wow! That's wonderful. ...LOL
I've been married to a trucker for 30yrs. I travel with him regularly & he loves what he does. Just like people who live nomadically, he works nomadically.. gets to see new sights everyday, meet new people.. he has pimped out his truck like a mini apt & has all the creature comforts of home, less a shower & he gets one of those as often as he wants at the truck stops. My daughter has traveled with her dad every summer & winter break from school & she has been to almost all 50 states. She has so many awesome memories from horseback riding on the beach to making her 1st snowman at a truckstop (Florida baby) they listened to books on tape & still talk about the crazy cat youtube videos they loved, there were times we both went with him (he has two bunks in his truck) and we traveled as a family while he worked. His work provides a wonderful life for us & still does. Our youngest is 18 now & still goes on a trip with her dad once a year.. the time spent on the road was extremely bonding, and that will last a lifetime. when she leaves the nest we plan on selling the house & buying a small home base & an RV & the adventure will continue!
You have inspired me. You are right. You don’t live life IN your van. You life live OUTSIDE of your van. The van is just somewhere to sleep. Work hard. Learn about God. Meditate on God’s word brother. God is watching over you. Don’t worry about the anxieties of life you are experiencing. Pray to our Heavenly Father. Let him know what you’re feeling. You are very wise. Nice video!!
Teddy Collier i've been in your shoes many times But please don't give up. If you need a friend to talk to too send me a message here on RU-vid. Keep your head up wife is so worth living.
Your life is important therefore YOU are important. We all have a purpose. ...go and find yours.... it's just waiting for YOU...You are wanted and needed in this world.
james daniel prayer van, I read the comments on this one before watching, or I might have not watched to the end either. These 18+ minutes with you were so inspirational. Get rid of the stuff, get out of the house, be creative for income... I love your suggestions. I used to Know these ideas, and was inspired by them. I knew I could support myself on the road, but time passed and my dreams are few. You truly put Van Life into a new perspective for me, and woke up something in me. Thank you so much. God Bless You. (subscribed and shared) :-)
Lol, I can't believe I watched the whole thing! As I did, I started reading the comments...& damn people!! This guy is not depressed. He's got a lot of wise points smothered in sarcasm!! People need to listen, truly listen!!
@ha ha what I get is sarcasm and negativity. Sarcasm has roots in truth and denotes negativity. His message is dreadfully apparent that he truly does feel his situation sucks, despite his attempt to mask with sarcasm. I got it loud and clear. If you got something different, good(or whatever) for you. Keep deluding yourself. Real eyes Realize Real lies
Loneliness is a killer! You can be lonely in a room full of people, glad I watched your video! Still going to give it a try! I'm 63 , Why not? And retired, would rather wake up to birds singing, then noisy traffic!
go have a blast have fun there are many out there to pal around with keep looking out and never retreat in to a shell of the van if your in florida someday let me know
Go for it girl. I am 62. Been housebound for about 3 yrs. My husband is downstairs and I am upstairs. He seldom talks to me. He never has. Those walls came in on me long ago. My situation has me stck right now. But, I am going to get around it and go for it too. I love the outdoors and I want to see as much of it as I can before I leave this world. I promise you that I know what loneliness is. Its cruel and dark. I will get around this somehow. I am going to try it too. I am an extravert with no one to talk to and no way out. Yet. But I will. X
@@debrandw246 Hi, Deborah. What do you mean by housebound? If you're not disabled, decide what your income is and take it and go do what you want. Life is short. I'm on my own, and am NEVER lonely. I don't know what this guy is talking about, but I think he's just self centered and doesn't bother to find things to do and people to see. He needs to get some help with his depression. Be you!
That is why a converted big van or a camper-van is so much better. I have 1200w solar and 2400w inverter. I have a computer not a laptop in my camper-van. I have G4 internet 120Gb a month. I cook on electricity my fridge runs only on electricity. It cost to get the electric system, but now I have almost free electricity for my entire life. I have restored everything, never lived better. I was a loner in my apartment too. Now I get to see some new people and say hello. I agree you need to have a life, and it do cost to live in a camper-van too. For me it was more good than bad. I always changed apartments and places to live so it was natural for me to go mobile.
Christian Nyman sounds like you have a great set up and the good thing is is you actually get out and live life may you be blessed in your travels and I'll go out and enjoy life
8 months in, so far so good. Sometimes when I go visit a relative, they act shocked that I prefer to sleep in the van instead of their guest bedroom. But I'm like, THAT"S my bed, that's where I prefer to sleep.
Glad I found you on youtube! Just subscribed to your channel. I am 62 and hitting the road in my SUV in a few days. Your video here is quite accurate! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Thank you for your message James, I think you are awesome and i hope you continue living in your van. I guess there are ups and downs to living this way, perhaps the worst of it is being alone but the best of it is being free to experience things you will never get to do if you lived in a house. I wish you well and i think i may follow your journey... God bless you and keep you safe. :)
Thanks for being brutally honest. I always wondered about living out of an RV. I'm single/divorced/retired and live in a 900 square feet condo (son moved out and bought his own house), own a travel trailer and a boat. I find this is a good balance for me. I have a base in my condo, can go out on trips in my RV and can go out on the ocean for solitude and fishing.
Loved it! You speak it like it is! No matter where you "live" if you're not happy with yourself you won't be happy no matter what you surround yourself with. Van's RV's etc. Aren't freedom they are the vessel that carries us. Freedom is in our spirit. And you Sir are truly free. God bless.
Your showing us the realism of van dwelling the pitfalls the problems the extreme differences and yes many of us who go on this journey may be vulnerable and have issues with life's sometimes crazy clutter , your showing us how so bless you for that and take care on your journey .🤗
Mary Brabant blessings to you Mary. The Most High has the perfect plan for your life just for you....yes just for you.Peace to you Mary in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach.
I thank you I never wanted to live in a van I randomly saw this video but it helped me get out of the house and stopped being sad and be happy for my son I thank you
Thank you. My take away from this and many other youtubers? Van Life Is: Coming up with your hustle... Getting out of your van... Living OUT OF your van... Stepping out of the Matrix... Stepping out of the Comfort Zone... Finding Your 'Ministry'... Thanks again...
Surprisingly this man has provoked a lot of thoughtful discussion on life, especially in retirement. I wonder if we could start a volunteer movement for people in need like Hearts and Hammers?
I have been living on the road since 2010. Before that, I was enlisted. Before that, I lived at a friend's house. Before that, I changed schools a few times. I am used to moving. Now, I spend 10,000 miles a month behind the wheel and the rest of the time wishing I would just commit to something. Not cigarettes and energy drinks. A job, a task, an assignment, anything else besides sitting in a parking lot watching other people do things together. To be a part of someone's life, to be needed, to feel useful, important, worth something.
There are people who welcome strangers. find them advertising on Craigs list. reading groups, Groups that practice public speaking, etc. they are educated or want to be, and I've been in several over a period of two years, and found them to be one of my better things.
very smart plan once you find the right people it will give you more freedom. I know a lady that does it and is nomadic and has her van customized with solar power, internet, compost toilet, and even a solar shower.
I don't see why people act like it's any different than a house. It's shelter. Depending on the utility situation, it's literally the same thing. All shelters are equal imo. Each requires different maintenance. But it's still just shelter at the end of the day.
Thank You! At one time in my life I was houseless because I had just lost all of my physical possessions. I was finally able to buy a 193? Sedan Delivery Van. I lived out of my van for about 19 months. The van looked very much like a station wagon and there was not a lot of room. Everything I owned fit in it. I was so thankful to have a place to sleep and be able to drive back and forth to two full time jobs, that I never thought about myself as not being blessed. Your advice is powerful and I beleive right on the money. I pray that your words will fall on the ears that need to hear them.
OMG Dude the way you present your take on van life is hilarious. You had me rollin'. Tryin' to figure out if you're serious or just looking at all the negatives. Either way, you crack me up with laughter to the point of tears.
Your a good man im 62 and throughly enjoyed YOURE "Hustle" (I know its not really hustling anyone) God bless you and your train of thoughr...so very glad you KNOW you have Jesus!!!! You certainly have earned a new subscriber in me friend... Joe
He is watching us and im watching you lol, we have him always as he promised and although we are sinners he says we can have life more abundantly through Him, I am so thankful and I can see you are too friend! Amen
Thank you sir for your sober assessment of the life you have experienced and the meaning you have gained from it. Sometimes I live as a solitary one and seek knowledge from within myself and ask the Almighty to aid my humble quest. And after awhile I may feel the attraction to go in the midst of my fellows, my society and seek friendship and heartfelt solidarity with others that I may feel the charge of human love. I really enjoyed what you said about getting out and connecting with other people who may be lonely as we are. This is the gift of God.
Its all the same. Own a house, pay a stinking mortgage, rent one you have a landlord who owns you. I already used to live in RV's and it was actually cool, and now I lost my job I had, and am happy to get rid of my shit and scale down again. Every form of living has an upside and a down side, and for me, being owned will not happen again.
