Hey Everyone! Welp, I cut the last remaining tie I had to the corporate structure and resigned my summer seasonal position as a gardener for the Parks at Recreation Division for the town of Mt Crested Butte. I'm now 100% a "content creator" so I hope you all don't get tired of videos on the reg.
I have a little bit of a new tent layout and wanted to show it to you along with the amount of wood needed for operating the stove for 7 days. Everyone is going awesome out here and I'll be scouting out a new campsite in the next day or two.
It's looking like I'll camp until the mid to latter part of March. As soon as I see signs of black bears waking up from hibernation, I'll be packing up the tent and headed back to truck camping until next winter. It's been a fun winter so far, thanks for checking out my videos!

Definition of "Off-Grid": Off-the-grid or off-grid is a characteristic of buildings and a lifestyle designed in an independent manner without reliance on one or more public utilities. The term "off-the-grid" traditionally refers to not being connected to the electrical grid, but can also include other utilities like water, gas, and sewer systems, and can scale from residential homes to small communities.

I understand the joy found in solitude. I've done it for 13 yrs during one period & off & on for maybe 10-12 yrs as time was made available. I did most of it in an isolated cabin in a bucolic area. But also in a tent while on the move - traveling on a bicycle - amazing how much fun that was. Once I got used to being alone w/ myself, solely there in my own company, it became a preferred lifestyle. Coming back into the world of general popular society, it was a big adjustment. A lot of people don't get silence or the joy of being alone, enveloped in your own bubble as it were. I do (I'm sure you know the feeling) but it's so hard to transmit that personal mindset to others who seem to be completely foreign to it. I no longer try - it's like explaining red to a blind man. Anyhow, I don't get living in the midst of winter in only a tent as shelter. I did my protracted stretch in a very small cabin, using only a wood stove & tiny a solarium (kitchen area) for heating all winter long. I imagine it's not a whole lot different, but it still doesn't require anywhere near the level of daily maintance as a tent does as your permanent home. My hat's off to you. I truly loved being the captain of my own fate - I just don't see me doing it in a thin cloth shelter. I'm older now and can't go back there, but it was great. I learned so much about myself (and life) doing it. Good luck enjoy the peace & solace found. Cheers..

You should save up and buy a small land for you and Sierra. Then build your tent, and then slowly save up again so u can build a small wooding home for you and Sierra! May take time but it’ll be worth it in the end; least you’ll know you OWN the land you’re living on and nobody can ever kick you off it ♥️♥️ my best wishes for you and Sierra

Here a good red beans and rice recipe from me (a southern boy 🤣) that is way better than the box stuff. Sausage of your choice Can of petite diced tomatoes Can of light or dark red kidney beans Partial can of chicken broth Diced onion Diced serranos/jalapenos if you like hot Cajun seasoning (low salt) Black pepper Brown or white rice Cook onion/peppers, then add diced sausage, then add the rest of ingredients and let simmer. Serve with rice cooked separately. Delicious!

Interesting about the Colorado firewood. Knew a guy in the Missouri Ozarks that had a side business of harvesting good Ozark oak, processing & curing it & hauling it to Colorado in tractor trailer and getting really good $ for it. Your tutorial explains the market! His costs were minimal, as he had hundreds of acres, was also a dairy farmer & had the whole wood harvesting process down to a quick and efficient operation. Hope you find your snowstorm before long. Stay safe & enjoy!

I’ve been want to ask you a couple of things. Why don’t you use more tarps or ground covers inside? It would help your allergies by keeping ground dust and muted out. Also, why don’t you use your setup as a base camp and do day or two day backpacking excursions depending on the area your in. Also do you keep bear spray? I camp in the Michigan upper peninsula and use it for bears and coyotes. Thanks for all of the content it’s awesome.

Unless you already have these items and you just haven't shown them please consider getting and taking with you a fire extinguisher and a smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector. Some years back I lost a friend who was enjoying the outdoors like you to carbon monoxide poisoning so I hope if you already have these you will let people know and if you don't you will at least consider getting them.
