I vote why you like your Islamorada.....the people, more locals, more low key, less boat traffic, better fishing, cheaper prices....and finally it's in the Keys, truly America's Caribbean Islands with American infrastructure and laws...
My boyfriend and I were just in the Keys this past weekend for my 40th Birthday. He just sent me this link and said remember this boat we saw?! Lol, small world
I also had a Holiday Mansion of the same size. Mine was a Barracuda I believe it was called and yours is a Coastal Cruiser. Yours has the Deck come up further to the gunnels to avoid splashing over the deck. Mine just had straight railing on the deck. I also had a single Volvo Penta inboard/outboard. The interior brought back memories as I also did a rehab on it. A major item....I filled in the space between the beds with a board and we had a California King.
I lived in the Keys from 1975 -1979. I think everyone I knew has left, far to many people down there, I remember when they put the first red light up in Marathon, great memories. Bridges were all single lane, during the busy season traffic was hellacious. Best times going out fishing, water skiing. Going down to Big Pine Key looking for gators! Buffet live in Malory Square,at sunset.I’m still looking at snow capped mountains out here in the last best place Montana. Cheers all❤
Lived in the upper keys from 79' to 85', best time of my life! Islamorada was my favorite Key....🌴Now in Jacksonville other end of state, raised 4kids and grandkids! Missing the old Conch Republic.
This Holiday Mansion, Super Coastal Barracuda ("Macadamia") was originally purchased at Oxbow Marine in Massachusetts ...spent most of its life cruising the Hudson River. I purchased it from a couple in Albany, New York, in June of 2011, we did a rehab on it and shipped it to Key Largo via truck in December of 2012. Enjoyed her for 5 years at Manatee Bay Marine in Key Largo and then sold her September, 2017
That is awesome....When we got her, she was named "Virginia Sea". We did a renaming ceremony at the basin, which was a lot of fun...Now she is called "The MystiC"....cool story....thx for the history
@@saltybushwacker2023 My mom's name was Virginia Carroll so that's why I named her Virginia Sea... I have lots of pictures of her if you ever are interested ...I'd be happy to share them with you. You guys did a beautiful job..
@christopherkiely8707 Absolutely....That's very cool including your mom in the name. Actually, we kinda did the same with "The MystiC" The capital C at the end is on purpose in memoey of my mom Connie. If your ever in Islamorada please come say hello! maybe send some pics via our Salty Bushwacker Facebook page on messanger
Thanks....It took a lot of grinding and hard work to make our dream happen....We pulled it off somehow and feel very blessed we get to explore and enjoy Islamorada with our little piece of paradise!
Been there so many times. I owned a townhouse down the street in Holiday Harbor, Tavenier. My second home but sold and moved to Treasure Coast to be with grandkids. Loved my time in the Keys but always worried when hurricane season came around. Enjoy your retirement and beautiful sunsets.
I was so going to get one of those but I can't take it into shallow Waters like I do. Like a Gibson or a Holiday Mansion. Great vide beautiful little houseboat you have
You’re living a beautiful life! Love your set up boat and all!!! I’m almost getting jealous, but I love my life as well! I have always loved Florida with the Jimmy Buffet style laid back music! Sea food is the best!
This looks like the life for me! LoL , what a beautiful set up you guys have there for sure! It's a perfect spot to rest your head, and having that great patio spot right on the water! I love everything about it. A few more years of work and hoping to retire down there too!! Thanks for sharing guys. Cheers !!
Amazing little houseboat! I had an old Morgan down at geiger key mariner...back in the "olden daze". I miss everything about it except the smell of laundry. I would never have thought of using the beer cooler to keep my dirty laundry. Beer was more important. And stop calling it the kitchen.
Good Channel! Looking forward to more content on boat slips in the Keys. We live in SE Alaska, very much a boating area, and enjoy both camping on our boat, or at a remote location only accessible by boat or floatplane. We're also nearing retirement age, (late-50's) and have a Ford 450 and nice truck camper based in Phoenix. A boat in the Keys (I had a 25 ton USCG Masters License for 10 years.) could be a good match.
Thx Brian....I think Leslie and I will do a video soon about the cost, purchase process and options, amenities, and options throughout the keys that we found...
Wow! The new whiskey barrel sign looks amazing! I think Leslie has a new business making custom boat signs. Hmmmm ……. Watching all your vids and catching up on life in the Keys.
This is amazing! My wife's grandfather actually has this same boat! Unfortunately it's in very disrepair after his health declining and a lightning strike screwing up the electrical system. Your video really makes me want to fix it up though!
I remember before hurricane Ian, the local TV station interviewing some people living on a boat in Ft Myers marina and they said they were going to ride it out along with others there in the marina. After the hurricane, all of these boats were piled up against buildings in downtown Ft Myers and the occupants were never found. That's a big disadvantage of living on a boat.
A very nice crib you have there. Well done! If I had a rig like yours, it would be a winter home. Summers in The Keys are HOT, and in the evenings at Key Largo the mosquitos are out in force. What is it like sitting outside on your porch in the evenings? How does your AC perform in the summer?
Back in the early 1980s. I Spent a whole summer on a house boat with my uncle. Fishing n Snorkeling all over Indian Key n Alligator Reef.. What a Gorgeous paradise
Oh my goodness I would love to get my hands on a houseboat like this! We live every other long weekend in Salt Springs, Florida, right off of the St. George lake the St. John river runs right through it. Boy I would have that houseboat out on that lake and river all the time. Sleeping in there having parties.
Laureli's ? Like the mermaid with Frankie and Annette ? Just kidding around guys , I think you have a really nice cozy vessel , and your wife has it looking like a beautiful home . I was thinking about a houseboat for myself , only I need more room for myself and I've been checking out 75 ' and even the large ones 100' ,,,,, just weighing the pro and cons for where I live in Pensacola , who knows I might even end up down your way , I just retired about 5 years ago and still debating with myself . Anyway ,,,,,, thanks for the tour and sharing it with us all . 🍻
yes sir u have carved out your peice of paradise the mystic is a real show case and leslie has made it beautiful and leslie is a classy lady to and easy on the eyes oops bushwacker is a big fellow lol have fun yall
we live in Tampa I have a 20’ Jet boat wanted the adventure of going to the keys by boat. Have you done it and can share route and places to stay on the way.
here's the link to the video....we took our 20' Key Largo from Hernando Beach to Islamorada... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGGLT2CQIJY.htmlsi=-NkjGYCUPS-t0pt-
@@saltybushwacker2023 nice video will try sometime this summer not sure about 10hr straight. Is it much longer on ICW. is there any house boats for rent in your area. My name is Nelson
You should add a flip up counter at the end , to give you added prep space , it fold down when not on use … a lot of van campers have them. Nice space 👍 Living the dream ✨
Man this is what me and my wife think we want to do, but the big question is how much was the slip, how did you find it, how much do you pay for insurance and do you have to have insurance. I talked to a guy at marathon seafood festival and he said this was the cheap way to live in the keys is this true.
What do you do with the Boats when the Hurricanes come? Im leaning toward this Lifestyle in a few years and would like to know. Thank you and GOD BLESS You. LOVE from Crabby Daddy here in Southern Maryland
Hey Guys. Thank you for all the info. We will be staying at the Key Lantern and will be hanging at the Lorelei around June 10. Hope to share a couple drinks with you guys. Thank you.... Kenny
Happy 51st Birthday to you today. It was great meeting you and Valerie. I hope we see each other again soon. Enjoy your special day today down here. Cheers 🍻
The fishing must be amazing down there. What do you do about storms and the surges? And, you also just told the entire internet exactly where you live in the first 60 seconds of the video.
Y'all living large in the keys. I lived on windly key from 75 to 85. Stop in Abels tacke box and tell Mike and Joyce I said hello. Nice video Y'all take care
Im a new subscriber and i really enjoyed yalls video, thanks for sharing. Ive got a couple of questions 1. Name of that marina, 2. How much are the slips going for?
