Living With a McLaren Artura - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 

My good friend ordered an Artura. Delivery was delayed by two weeks while they sorted out software issues. So they gave him a courtesy Artura. That broke the day after he received it. It took two McLaren technicians most of the day to get it up and running so they could take it away. When my mates one finally arrived it was taken away within the first month with the following issues (copied from the message he sent me): Hybrid System Failure. Windscreen needs replacement due to poor fitment. 12v battery dead. Windows don’t shut fully. DAB has no reception. Bluetooth doesn’t work properly Fuel filler overflow doesn’t work properly. Infotainment doesn’t always come on so can't use sat nav or air con. Fuel gauge range reading over 600 miles. He regrets getting it.

A fantastic looking supercar and you don't need to win the lottery to buy one! There are two up for sale at £200,000 at the moment. Much cheaper than a Ferrari 296 GTB!!

Possibly it is an entry level hybrid in the McLaren line up, like a 570S hybrid with more power. Likely, Mclaren would release another v8 hybrid

5:22 great video - the car's quality however... That bottom half of the exhaust heat shield is loose, can see at this point in the video 😂

Depreciation will be the main problem…I’ve got a 2020 911 Carrera S probably only lost £25k in 42months of owning..in my opinion McLaren needed to get the Artura absolutely perfect before launch…& from everything you hear I’m afraid that is not the case…I’m sure this is highlighted more because of previous issues but once you lose your reputation it’s hard to get it back..

Black on black makes it look like the batmobile

I love the fact that McL have succeeded in bringing hybrid power unit to market…. But but but, even I as an owner of a 570 Spider I’d be hard pushed to hand in heart say it’s a big step up on aesthetics 🤔

Has the car had any glitches?

Having worked bloody hard to be able to afford any number of cars, its disappointing to hear that McLaren are patchy in quality with a GBP 200,000 product. Can't decide what i want but having taken out an Emira for a test blast i was really impressed with how it ate B class roads.

For the electrical issues you just have to sleep the car for 5 mins should solve it once you turn it back on

P1? Well have you watched Tavarish rebuilding his flooded P1? Some of the body panels had a stack of shims jammed in to make the panels line up. A stack of shims! For a million dollar car?? I dunno man. I dunno.

Boot space??

Hybrid system fault, McLaren norm. My nearly 7 year old NSX Hybrid has none of these issues.

Soz, but hybrid and supercar should not be combined in the same sentence. Weight is an absolute killer and whilst McLaren have done a great job trying to keep it down compared to their competitors its still way heavier than their previous ICE vehicles. It also sounds PANTS. Give me a N/A V10 every day especially in Lambo guise

They rushed this car, looks exquisite in proper colours. Mclaren just have to be patient with their production processes and work on quality. Because their cars from a chassis, steering and tech just work better than most. I dont think the 296 had glitches and built quality issue even if its minor, these are 200 K cars.

I’ve owned a McLaren for almost 7 years . Never had a problem .

Drive that hybrid white good and a N/A V10 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica back to back and we all know which car you would choose - Lambo is a the peak of the old school supercars that handles and sounds sublime

It feels underwhelming on the screen..but I'm sure being behind the wheel would be a different level.

It's time to get rid of the R8 and get a modern super car! Let's GO!

Macca cars, not bad. Although owners I know cant stand the dealerships. To the point that they'd sell the car and buy a Porsche.

RU-vid influencers talk the biggest load of crap. "I've been to the gym, the football match, a meal and a country road". Yes you have and, if this car were yours, either splashed out over £190,000 0r huge monthly payments for the privilege of doing so. Nothing a £20,000 to £40,000 could not do on UK 70 mph roads. No wonder people get themselves so much into debt.

Paul you go to the gym? Do they have whey protein in England?

Sorry I'm not paying 250k EUR to "live" with the bad and ugly. It's an amazing looking car but I can't be asked to deal with the "quirks" of a clearly unfinished vehicle.

The exterior design is ok but doesn’t compare to the Frank Stephenson designs of the 650S, 675 LT and the King of Supercars P1! These models are vampire cars - will never age!
