Autumn, I had so much fun reading with you and was so happy to witness your love of reading! Luna, you are a great big sister and an amazing role model for Autumn. I loved hearing about your love of Fall time too. Genea, you are a great mom and it's easy for everyone to see what a great job you are doing. It was great meeting everyone!

Chris might be the kindest person to ever exist and that's not just hyperbole.

It was so brave of Mom to admit that sometimes she can’t understand her daughter or what she needs. I think moms of special needs kids are so often put under a pressure that they need to have all the answers and be the “perfect” parent.

Autumn definitely understands everything around her. I think her world would blossom even more if she had an AAC device. Her older sister is so beautiful and you can tell she adores Autumn. Beautiful family and sending so much love your way ❤️

I’m not a professional, but I found that she can understand quite a lot. I guess reading books really helps her a lot. Keep getting her books! One day when there’s a device that can help her communicate, she will open up a new world!

When her Mom was asked, “What do you wanna know?” And she said she wanted to know what kind of therapies would help her the most, did anyone else think some form of speech therapy? My first thoughts while watching (aside from how bubbly and fun she was!) was how seeing a speech therapist might help her discover ways to pronunciate better. She clearly understands what’s going on and communicates back! It’s just difficult to understand what she’s trying to say.

Little Autumn is such a happy child and it's clear that she is surrounded by love and acceptance. It was such a pleasure to meet her and her wonderful family.

Autumn has a pretty great comprehension of things being communicated to her. I wonder if an electronic touch-to-speak sort of device would benefit her?

She seems to understand everything that’s going on, she just can’t communicate it like you and me. Oh btw, she is way too adorable

Genea, don’t doubt yourself. I cannot imagine the hardships you might go through, but anyone can see the love and dedication you have for your kids. You are trying your best and Autumn will always be grateful.

I don't have children and honestly don't know how to interact with them. Listening to Chris read with this little girl has inspired me in many ways to deal with kids, no matter their diagnosis or lack thereof. Thank you Chris!

I'm a 31 year old man trying to stop the tears from running, but I can't. She's just so absolutely adorable!!! My heart melts watching her say "Boo!" Never change little one! I'm just so happy I got to witness this moment. Great job man. You will forever have my support and gratitude for what you do.

To Autumn's mommy: Please know that us moms and caregivers are learning from you and lifting you up. We are so proud of you and your daughters! They are pure light. Your love is radiant and you are doing the best job!

Sign language also could come in handy she is still young easy to learn she seems very attentive and listens very well and likes for someone to read her books thats nice 😊its hard for alot of kids to sit still and listen when some one is reading but this one she does great i feel proud of her!

I love how Chris approaches these interviews! He always meets everyone on their level- but he takes it just as sincerely in each case, never talking down to them- always engaging them with such openness.

As someone who was born with a life-threatening chronic illness and grew up in & out of hospitals, I see my own mother in this beautiful, strong woman. You are doing so wonderfully, Autumn’s mama! Your babies are incredibly lucky to have you as, sadly, not every “mother” would be there for their sick child every step of the way, like you. ❤️

Such a beautiful family. I love how you include grandparents, Chris. And thanks for including communities of color in your videos. Mom, I am a veteran teacher and suggest that you work with your local county office of education now and get her qualified for specialized services like occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc. She will certainly qualify once she reach school age. The fact that she is speaking at all and totally comprehending you and responding appropriately, ALL the parts are there, she really only has articulation issues and those will absolutely come! She is really intelligent so with therapy she will hit those developmental marks. I can't imagine how hard it is, but you are doing such an amazing job with both your girls.

This child should be in speech, physical, and any other therapy that may enhance her emotional, and physical well being. I wonder if the state where they live offers anything. It’s evident that this child is well loved and taken care of. This mom has done a wonderful job. My daughter has two special needs children and I know how exhausting it is.

Oh my goodness that little girl and her sister are both beautiful children. It's obvious that she knows so much, she's there,very much present and really trying to express herself. As she gets older, and is able to use adaptive technology to communicate, I'm positive people are going to realize how intelligent she is. I noticed that on the bat picture pages she was holding the book upside down because she wanted to look at the bat in the same orientation that she would see other animals, there aren't that many animals that hang upside down. I bet she actually has a really large vocabulary for her age and I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't start reading for real at an early age. I hope the mother can find out a lot more about her disease and all of the best methods to support her daughter as much as possible. I always really feel for people whose children or family members have what they call orphan diseases, the rare diseases that don't receive a lot of money for research and because there's not much research being done. Good luck to this beautiful family they deserve luck and a lot of it. Thank you Chris for being so kind to this family and for the wonderful way you interacted with that adorable child. It was obvious that she both enjoyed and appreciated the interaction.

11:15 I love what Autumn's mom says so much about her other daughter as well. Making sure each child is loved equally is so important for both children to grow up properly. Mama, you're doing an AMAZING job. Don't stop loving them as strongly as you do. As well, seeing how fulfilled she felt when Chris was able to understand her and communicate in a way that works for her, that filled my soul.

This is simply one of the most wholesome things I've ever seen. The mother, the grandmother, the sister, and Autumn are all treasures! One thing that really struck me was when the mother said how she doesn't want her oldest daughter to not feel special because of how much attention Autumn needs. I grew up with an older sibling who received more attention than I did due to behavioral issues. My parents did their best but I was somewhat emotionally neglected. It just fills my heart so much. I wish absolutely nothing but the best and greatest things from life for this family.

When I see mom tear. It break my heart and it does make me want to jump into screen and give her huge hugs and say everything is good. Enjoy life!
