I love how you love your dogs. We had two Italian Greyhounds. The loves of our lives. Had to put both of them down because of cancer and kidney failure. Devasted me and my husband. I cried for months. Just an encouraging word to you. Dogs go to heaven. I asked the Lord for a visit from them. I got a visitation from both with a very quiet angel with a silver toga on with short wings on his sandals. His name is Ardell. So if you love the Lord - you will see Ben again in heaven! Greyhounds are the only dogs mentioned in the bible. Thanks for sharing. I will start again and get a new Italian Greyhound when we get moved. And get a harness. God bless you!

Hi, Great video, very helpful. I'd just like to add, for anybody who like me is on a budget, that these ruffwear harnesses are often available on ebay. People sell them on when maybe their pup has outgrown it or for whatever reason. I've just bought one in auction for 30 quid, size small for my Bedlington. It's hardly been used and an absolute bargain imo.

I am glad you pointed out the 'slip forward' issue in regular harnesses We went into stores and tried on so many with some assistants assuring us that the 'neck chest ' type fitted. We have just bought our Tilly (Matilda) a Ruffwear Flagline. Super impressed that it fits a whippet body shape.

Whippets are the best dogs you can own fact, have 2 and lovely dogs to own.

We also use Ruffwear stuff for our Greyhound. Especialy the Running leash is realy nice when we go for a run with her. Thx for sharing.

We have been using collars on dogs for over 5000 years! and the earliest depictions are sight hounds. If you fit a collar properly and know how to handle a dog on a lead when it pulls backwards by not holding the leash rigid, then you wont have any trouble and you will be able to enjoy the beautiful physique of your Whippet instead of covering it up.

What a great model!! We don't have a whippet, but our dog is nearly the same shape ( long legs, long lanky body, thin, long neck, small head). I wondered if the Ruffwear would be too cumbersome. Your video was SO helpful!!

Thank you for an interesting video, I didn't realise there were so many different types of harness. Our whippet has slipped out twice from a whippet collar when he was younger and smaller, the second time he knew he could do it little monkey! I will definitely give a harness a try, for comfort as well. Thanks again. 😊🐕

Great video, thanks very much for posting! We've got a crossbreed Podengo we rescued from Portgual and it's been an adventure to get the right gear for her. She has the deep chest of the Wippet, so the double fastners of the Ruffwear harness look promising. We did finally find a harness she can't get out of, and there was a sharp contrast in her behaviour with collar vs harness. We will give ruffwear a go, Appreciate all the advice and fashion show. Lovely dog, very best to you all.

He is so cute! Our whippet Mia is almost the exact colour and markings. None of the other whippets around here (Auckland, NZ) are similar to her.

Our new arrival is a whippet/galgo cross. The rescue centre recommended the Ruffwear Webmaster because of the extra belly strap that means the dog can't back out of the harness. More expensive, but you get what you pay for.

What a gorgeous model Louie makes and so patient too. Very helpful video, I've seen many people recommend the ruffwear webmaster harness on whippet pages on FB. We do use a collar on Jason, one for whippets but tend to fasten it up behind his ears, he does have a long slender neck like Louie so I will look again at the harnesses, very helpful video 😊

I use martingale collars on all my whippets (and greyhounds and italian greyhounds) ...AND teach them to walk on the lead properly. There is no excuse for pulling dogs. Whippets can also pull out from a lot of harnesses, unless it has a (extra) strap which sits behind the ribs cage. I do use a harness on my IG assistance dog which fits nicely under his vest. The straps go around his chest and the other sits behind his rib cage.

Really enjoyed your vid! It's so difficult finding the perfect harness for a whippet. I got mine made for my 3 it has the extra strap next to their tummies incase they back out off it. Really like the new ruffwear design plenty of room for their coats. Now I'm off too look at them lol 👍👍 Thank you 😀

For everyday use, we've had good results with soft, whippet martingale collars (5.5cm/2.2" wide). Love Louie's harness, though. Great videos.

Our two have Ruffwear, too. The 3 strap one with a handle. Our two, and our boy is a biggy, both have size small. Medium is way too big around the neck area. We do have basic harnesses, too. But they do slip about.

Louie is just so handsome. Such a good boy 💖 we use harnesses on Sparky and Sadie Mae, I don't like collars. Sparky's collar is called Chihuahua stud😂😂 Love to y'all 🤗🤗🤗💖🌷

Great vid and some sound advice. I hate the extendable Flexi type leads, esp on dogs with thin necks like Whippies. If they take off quickly and reach the end of the lead as it feeds out, they can do serious harm to the dog. Good advice about collars too.

thanks for the video, i am now with my 4th whippet,who,s now 10 (all rescue ones) and have always been reluctant to use harnesses, i dont like the way they put pressure on the chest, and they,re usually huge things and hide half the coat. I certainly would never lift a whippet up by one, I was told by the old whippet boys,"theres only one way to lift a whippet, arm round front,arm round back" and NEVER under the waist. having seen this i MAY change my mind, B the way, i notice you dog still haS ITS DEW CLAWS.,bit dodgy in the hedges after rabbits. They 're great harnesses i have just got my Whippet pup a 3 peaks harnessing looks the same as that they are £20 from legs at home or i got a new one from eBay i just hope it's as good as the ruffwear one

Also the harness without a handle is a ruffwear front range and the one with a handle is a ruffwear webmaster. I really don't think there is a better harness than the webmaster. Definitely not for any dog with a small head, a deep chest and a tiny waist. I went through umpteen harnesses before I found the webmaster, they were always ill fitting somewhere.

We recently got a Lurcher from Battersea, she is now 2 years old and so much fun! I am trying to find a suitable harness for her, I have the Halti one that you showed, but I am not keen on it. I shall enjoy watching your videos

As always a great informative video, thank you. Could you recommend the best harness for Fred Basset, He wore his last on out at the weekend. As you know he runs off the lead over the hills and pulls a lot when hes on the lead due to the potential stokes he can spot looming and/or scents of picnics or wild rabbits, squirrels etc... I'm trying to get one, mines six months old but very skinny, I bought a Trixie harness a shop recommended, within five mins my dog escaped. I'm hoping a XS will fit as I'm looking for second hand one to start. Also because the problem of his head now being almost same width of his head means collars slip.

I do have question though, I have a almost 6 month whippet, I going to get a Ruffwear harness, but I am wondering what size in inches Louie is?as I am unsure what size to get, as my dog measures 21 inches, but dont want it to be to big if I go up to the Small. Hi Dave, getting a Whippet girl puppy in a couple of weeks time and have seen you have a Ruffwear Webmaster in XS for Rosie but just want to know if I could manage to go straight for the small size as they say on their website that they do have extra adjustment above what they say against specific sizing and I know you have the small and extra small. Any chance of your thoughts please.

He doesn't have the size of a puppy anymore and is bigger than his brother whippet, but isn't an adult yet either... Hi I bought a Webmaster harness for my Whippet and the front padded chest piece is to big but I have adjusted it fully, do you find that it is too big for your whippet around there? Does it affect him in anyways as my whippet is an escape artist haha Thanks Catherine
