In July 2012 a group of young people with hemiplegia got together to discuss, plan and film a short film. The footage is a great insight into what it is like to live with hemiplegia, featuring their views and feelings and inspiring interviews with parents.

I also have hemiparesis for 23 years on the left side but fortunately I always had great people around me, my parents were always supportive of me, my schoolmates and friends are understanding and got along well, never got bullied so luckily my condition was never a big deal for me. Stay strong my fellow special ones, always try to look at the bright side in life and most important of all NEVER let people's words or actions make you think less of yourselves!

I really enjoyed seeing young kids and young adults featured in this video! Having been diagnosed with hemiplegia because of a brain tumor as a child and living with it ever since this really resonated.Thank you!

I'm a 35 year old living with left-hemiplegia in the United States. Great videos that you guys have created here, I wonder if you ever collaborate with CHASA in the US. I think there is a lot of information that could be shared :-) Growing up, the physical aspects affected me most and I see that bullying is quite a common theme here. Its always good to see that bullying is becoming more and more socially unacceptable. The most difficult battle I face today is simply keeping up in the Walmart-Operations driven economy. Adults are generally ok with someone in the work-place having a disability, as long as it does not affect their productivity numbers or what their definition of "efficient and hardworking" is. Short-term memory loss becomes "not detail oriented/indecisive" Cognitive issues become "Not paying attention or careless" As I write this now I am generally rated as a low-performing employee and under constant scrutiny because of a general lack of awareness. The lady doing ballet in this video describing the mental aspects of living with this is exactly the same things I face every day at work.

I have had hemipalegia for 39 years. I can tell you, life does get easier the older you get, at least in the social aspects. Adults aren't as critical and far more understanding!
