Thank you so so so so much for this video! I’m 21 and just decided I wanted to venture out of my parents house and move to a different state and get a roommate. I live in FL where I’m surrounded by retired people (so, yes, ages 50-up) and I could literally feel myself thinking and acting like someone who is old(er) and I recently hung out with a coworker who is 22 (she only came to FL for school) and she was sharing with me how ready she was to leave FL because of the age group we lived around (I don’t understand how people say your surroundings have nothing to do with the way you think or act) But anyways, this video helped me so much to think about what I need to know when choosing a roommate when I leave. One question: Should I set a specific date on when I’m planning to leave? My parents tell me too do so, that it will keep me motivated and focused. Did you do that before moving to LA? Thanks so much xx

How about smoking, perfume, detergent odor. Lately you smell people accross street the detergent smell because some company brands are putting more chemicals on the detergent to boos smell and last months and months, and you wash to get rid of the smell it does not go away, you have throw away. It's so bad that if the person sits on my bed, or my sofa the smell stays on my sofa, in my bed. It's horrible.

My roommate is psycho, she is like 3 or 4 years older than the rest of us (we are 21-22) in a college apartment. She is not in school and just works. Not only did she allow a her friend to live in her room with her without informing us but she literally waits for me to say something off or do something off so that she can twist it around to make me appear like an enemy. She has tried getting the other girls against me by pulling the whole “depression card” making me look like a bully. My other roommates eventually picked up on her shit and tried getting the random girl living with her kicked out due to our water/electricity going up, we have called the police just to file a complaint about her threatening me, and we went through the apartment office too. She gets really mad when the other roommates speak to me, she is nice to my face but talks major shit behind my back, she is messy, and even threatened to call the police to ruin my birthday. We finally got her friend kicked out through the office because it was against the lease.

Sounds like an unhealthy, unpleasant living environment. Glad some things have changed. What a learning experience though! lol
