I can’t believe I’m writing this so many months later but for the record the “little hole” I’m referring to at 3:03 isn’t the microphone. I’m making a joke about not knowing what the headphone jack is. Sorry to those who got it but I’m still receiving a ton of comments about this lol so I figured I’d clear it up. Side note, if you want to be a great person you should go follow me over on social media! My ego needs a boost. (@91_Tech) twitter.com/91_tech instagram.com/91_tech
It's awesome and inspired the glass back phones we all love in 2019 , also this kid don't know what he's talking about, anyone who says the 4s is obsolete is mentally ill, if you want to use an obsolete phone pick up a Windows phone lol 😅😅😅
Not sure why you're allowed to comment before the video is even posted yet. It's impossible to provide feedback or impressions when you haven't watched it yet.
They really need to start bringing back smaller form factor smartphones. Imagine something with the design of the 4s, full screen display of the Xs, wireless charging, and a headphone jack. One can only dream.
Yes. I really don't want to carry around a phablet. I have an S7 which is a perfect size. 5.1 inches, still great camera, great resolution but the battery is okay. Phones should be a little chunkier which would allow room for a bigger and more efficient battery so flagship smartphones can have awesome battery life just like some budget phones (performance sucks on those phones but battery life is top-notch). The 4s body with an Xs screen would be amazing. Maybe even a 5s/SE body with a full screen. That phone you've mentioned really needs to happen. One can only dream...
Agreed--I'm watching this honestly to see if I can get away with going back to a 4 or 5, because this giant brick in my bag is annoying AF. I'm sick of these tablet-sized phones, lol!
Small phones is what we all want in 2019 , imagine the 4s design with iPhone X internals ,that would be cool , also watching RU-vid on such a small display is a nice novelty , it reminds me of some James bond gadget lol
@@Chonksta SE 2nd gen is just a faster iPhone 8. It also wasn't out when i posted this comment. iPhone 12 Mini is also out now, I like the idea, but I don't think they'll ever make a phone as small as the 4S again.
I still use by the iphone 4s as my phone today , i bought in in 2011 as my first smart phone and it still works today , battery life after all this time still lasts a day unless i use my 3G a lot and then it dies quick. I love everything about the phone and i plan to keep it in till it dies :)
rstoneelf15 I have a 6s and it works perfectly I can totally see having it a few more years no problem I love the size it's perfect . there is no point in replacing something that's perfectly fine .

@@Magg78 yeah at the time it felt like you were holding a premium device there was nothing else like it;most Android phones were made of plastic and usually didn't feel like you spent your money on something worthy of the price tag it had. But with an iPhone 4 it felt slick and premium to the touch and the added heft to the device was also appreciated in my opinion.
Integra DIY , I still use my iphone 4s. I just use it for calls and Whatsapp and it works fine for that. I have a laptop and an ipad so I really don’t need to spend a lot of money on a fancy miniature computer. No need forJosh to feel sorry for me. I am quite happy, thank you.
I'd LOVE a powerful phone the size of the 4s.. it was always my favorite design and part of why I got an SE I still use the headphone jack on my se at work almost every day. I have several sets of Bluetooth headphones but keeping them charged is a hassle to I always end up just plugging in an old pair.
I remember getting the iPhone 4S as my first real smartphone in 2013 (back in the old days of iOS 7). I am currently a jailbreak user, and the 4S was the only phone that I was fine using without a jailbreak. Yes, it essentially became garbage after the release of iOS 9, but ios 7-8. My only complaints with it at the time was the weird placement of the headphone jack, compared to where it was placed on the iPhone 5 and 5s, and getting *good* replacement chargers was, and still is, quite the challenge
I am H Y P E for this because there needs to be a definitive video on this topic, not just another "oh youtube runs on the 4s in 2017 except a bit laggy" *WE DON'T NEED THAT* I'm excited to just have a final, definitive video on this subject. Thanks in advance Josh, I'm sure it'll be great.
I got one in November 2016 and used it as a daily on and off during the first half of 2017 and used as a secondary ever since then until last year when I put it on my nightstand as a permanent alarm clock. It’ll always have a special place in my heart and is definitely one of my favorite devices I’ve used
I'm still happy using my Galaxy s3, I don't see how snobby you have to be to not realize these phones have everything you can ever need from a phone. It calls, it sends messages, it browses Instagram, plays games, take photos etc.
Problem though is that once you make the mistake of upgrading to iOS 9 and 4S becomes unusable... When I got my iPhone 7 in November 2016 I hated how big and clunky it was and for a week or two I kept using my 4S. Really hated everything about 7 back then
My sister used a 4S and it works, it's just that apps aren't really supported and it's slow but you can get by with using it for messaging and calling and some social media.
I lived with it for a year, 5 years after it came out. (I was 8 then and I thought it was the world’s best phone) Little did I know a day later would my bird die. Rip Lilly, you will be missed.
I found my old 4s recently and was tempted to give it a shot after downgrading it, since I’ve always loved the form factor of these little guys with their compactness and ahead-of-it’s-time glass sandwich design. BUT I was able to compare it to another 4s and it turns out my screen is discoloured and my cameras are grainy so I figured it would be too frustrating to deal wth. Luckily you made this video so I didn’t really miss out! Also: >unlocked from Telus Wanna do a video about how terrible Canadian carriers are my fellow Canuck?
The iPhone 4s was my first iPhone as well as my first SmartPhone. However, iOS 7 slowed it down too much for my liking, so I upgraded to the 5S in 2014 which served me well for almost 4 years. And now, I have an SE which I got back in May, and I really like it. Hopefully, it’ll work well for a few years.
I had my 4S for 5 years until I got my 1st gen SE in 2016. It was an amazing phone for its time, but from iOS 8 onwards, it became really slow and apps like spotify, RU-vid and google maps were really noticeable. Even the keyboard became slow and laggy by the time iOS 9 came out.
I still use my iPhone 4s as a daily driver phone. I can't afford an upgrade right now but would love one. Yeah it is difficult to use but it is still usable. And yes the network still works HSPA plus. And yes you can unlock it and go on T-Mobile. There is a trick that you can do to get the app to work. Look up a very old version of iTunes that has the iTunes App Store. Make sure you can still login and log into it. Look up an app on your iPhone it Hass to say this app needs iOS 10. When it says that search that exact app you searched for on your phone in iTunes and then click download once you download it from the old version of iTunes App Store and it will immediately download to your iPhone. That's a helpful trick that I found to keep your iPhone 4s running. Now the app won't update if it needs iOS 10 but you'll be able to use the app with less features because it hasn't updated in forever.
Hey buddy, I scrolled past this video and was curious how others did it. I've been living with a 4s for over 2 years now and I've figured I might as well try to adapt. I run IOS 9.3.5 and RU-vid for sure is my slowest app, in fact, this comment will probably take a good few minutes to post. I can never borrow a charger from anyone which is pretty inconvenient, and when using a friends phone I struggle with even unlocking the phone, as I'm used to swiping. I make all my calls and text messages through iMessage, as I don't have a SIM card. It is on its last legs, with my home button torn off and the entire back is shattered. Just to be clear, I use the 4s not by choice, but because I'm a kid with parents who don't just go off and buy their kid a new phone everytime they need a new one. Just wanted to give a little insight on what it's like really living with it. Nice video!
Oren Sloan I run the iPhone 4s asswell it’s really no different than the iPhone X and it really makes me mad how people say I don’t speak broke with my AirPods I have a fucking iPhone 4 for crying out loud! But yes very true they are close to the same thing
I miss the size of the frame, but you're right about the screen being really small. I'm actually surprised that the camera on my old phone is about as good as the one on my new one because my best friend was talking about how the iPhone 6 Plus had a much better camera than any of its predecessors when he first got one right after is came out.
This turned me into the iPhone in 2012 and I have the fondest memories of it. Fast forward to 2017 and I switched from the 6S plus to the Galaxy Note 9 and couldn't be happier. To me the 4-6 was the golden age of the iPhone.
I live with the 4s on 9.3.5 every single day and my dad refuses to let me buy myself a new phone or get me one so I understand how stinking slow it is and the apps crashing constantly is no fun
The 4 was my first phone. I hated the angular corners and how they dug into my palms when holding the phone, and the camera had a yellow tinge on everything. But I still loved it. I then had a 6. Then a 7+ and now an XS Max. Hopefully this one will last a good few years.
@@superkods Its affordable but not worth it. For the same money you can get something like galaxy s3,htc one x or nexus 4 which are hella better than this garbage.
yeah, i still value it even though its that old. And its a working phone, so i cant complain :D . but when people say that their phones dont last 2 years its pretty annoying... @Ed Dragojlovic
Hands down my favorite design! The weight made it feel like something & not like it was going to fly out of my hand like an eager wet bar of soap. The thickness, again, felt like I was holding something so I never used a case. I would take this design with the screen and bezel sizes if the iPhone 8 in a second!!! But wish in one hand and...
Let’s be real here. iPhone 4S was ahead of its time. I still have working iPhone 4S on my random stuff box and It’s still working straight from 2013. Amazing phone tbh
After seven years with iPhone 5 and six years with iPad mini 2, I replaced both devices last week. After a few minutes with gesture controls on the XR, I forgot why I ever needed a Home button. I dislike the Home button on my Pro 10.5, and I resent the fact that my tablet doesn't recognize my face like my phone does. You won't miss the Home button. I promise
I’m using my old 4s as an iPod since my current phone is only 16gb, (android, so like 4gb) to have my music downloaded on Spotify, and I must say the speakers in my opinion are brilliant for a 2011 phone, when compared to my 2015/16 phone. Also I must say with the current condition of my daily driver in terms of speed, if it wasn’t for the screen size, and optimisation, I would go back to the 4s
starst9 Although, I cant fully say since it’s not being used as a daily driver anymore, the battery in my case has been great, can get at least a couple of days battery life out of it listening to music
Isn't it always sad when you wanted something years ago but now that you come back to it...you still want it but it has no use for you anymore because you have something "better". I should've bought this phone when it came out 😂
Johnnyb418 I remember buying one used in 2016 (I had an iPhone 4 before it) and thought it was excellent until 6 months later when I was given an iPhone 5s (for free) by a relative who had upgraded.
I like the power button on top rather than the side. It feels more natural to touch the top with your index finger, and still have a good grip on the phone.
last year when I had a iPhone 5s it got water damaged and I had to use a 4s on iOS 9. Honestly the most slow annoying thing ever. The battery life was trash and the apps crashed all the time. I had to use it for like 6 months!! I have an iPhone 7 now tho so it’s ok😂💜😭🤦🏼♀️
Pingky Dbno yeah I’m on the 7 atm - using the 4s in 2018 was the worsttttt. I had to use it until June 2018 and I just remember apps like snapchat RU-vid and Instagram constantly crashing. The only app I found okay was netflix aha x
4s still fuckin with you ten years later whereas the xs will be forgotten or in a dumpster within 5! I'll be the glass backed steel edge classic phone fs.
The iPhone 4S is still very usable and can still handle today's apps. The camera is still pretty good too. I have sometimes used my iPhone 4s as a backup until January 2019.
my old iphone se was so slow and broken that the iphone 4 would probably win the speed tests, half of the apps that require internet would just never load and now the battery got so bad that it's stuck boot looping.
7:35 - This is why I never owned an iPhone until they came out with the 6. I *hated* the 3.5" display and refused to get an iPhone because of it. Even the 4" display was pretty pathetic.
@Magg78, fair enough. I just mainly meant compared to most Android phones at the time, the screens just couldn't compete. So, I wasn't interested...till the 6. That phone was a game changer indeed.
