With the Blow Pipe you should blow thru the large hole as it gives you a.more concentrated air pressure at the fire. Ths stove performs the necessary functions as you so aptly demonstrated Dan and yes you're correct in saying if your camping the last thing you need to be is in a hurry. Great review mate as always thanks. Bushyboy Oz.

Narrow end into the fire, as when you blow from the wider end, as the air travels down it will compress and come out the narrow end with more force.

Excellent job as always my friend! As for the stove, it seems okay- but I think it's a little too tall for comfort. Stability might be an issue. Plus, with a shorter stove, your water would boil quicker.

I fancy gettin one of these wood burning stoves, and have watched loads of vids on em.. the consensus seems to be to get the best out of these sorts of stoves you need to pack the wood in and lite from the top.. sort of like a swedish candle stove.. typically I've noticed a fifteen minute burn time on most of em as well.. enough to boil water on one load of twigs.. if your cooking then thats when the feeding comes into play..... I fancy a simple folding stove though, titanium to keep the wieght down...

Wide end in your mouth, then the narrow end constricts the air, so it comes out under more pressure. It’s really effective for invigorating a fire that’s struggling to get going. The American Indians used to use hollowed out Elder tree branches to do the same thing.

"Blow Pipe"="Pocket Bellows" 😎 Blow from the large end. The stove: All wood gas stoves burn efficient but take lots of attention, nature of the beast🤔 This stove is no different in that respect, have to feed it to maintain the flame. The only cons to this stove is the excessive height and the burn chamber with no ash pan🙄 Tall height equals unstability, not so good. The burn chamber requires lots of fuel to achieve the gasification process(hence greedy), and it will burn the ground without an ash pan or shield. Just observations👌

Not so long ago that would have been something to aspire to ! I have a smaller version without all the bits and bats but extends to about the same size £ 14 from home . Bought due to you’re inspiration , not tried it yet , but have wasted loads of time making stoves using the same principals , that were a waste of time ! A tip for a blow pipe is a selfie stick with the end cut off from Poundland . Enjoying your tips though , and like the way you do it , cheers me up ! Good stuff , you eat 3 times as much as me , so I save weight that way !

As mentioned, you want a more focused stream of air so blow from the wide end. Ty o cut down on needing to tend the stove constantly, once you got a good fire going with twigs switch to larger diameter wood up to 1inch. I prefer to saw 6in diameter rounds of wood 4 inches thick. Then I baton into one inch diameter sticks to feed the stove. The more dense wood would yield a longer sustained and constant flame for cooking.

Hi, Having seen your video, I went and bought the stove only as I am well equipped. I do note it's similarity to a similar titanium product at about three times the price. It certainly looks like it's go lots of go and I would advise cutting off the bottom of a coffee mate container to use as an ash pan. Please do a trial with wood pellets which will be my intended initial source of fuel.

1 use the bellows to get the fire going at first, or when you've only some coals and want to grill something. Smaller end to the fire concentrates de air jet. You can also use them to help cool the pot or handles, or even the stove itself, cuz steel holds hear well. 2 preload the stove, as you're supposed to with all gasifiers, right up to the big holes at the top, then through some kindling on top and that's where you light it. Top-down fire will burn for quite a while before you need to refill it, you should get two liters to boil with that. The way you did it is good for a simmer and controling the heat. 3 use some tent stakes at the bottom vents to hold the stove in place and make it stable, you definitely don't want that tipping over. 4 The kit with only the stove and pots is fine. Use the smaller one to fry stuff and big to boil and cook. Always being a little bowl along, and an alcohol stove to put inside in case of rain. Store the stove inside a separate bag inside the pot so the soot doesn't spread around. 5 make a cozy for the pot to retain heat for a while. Useful for more intricate cooking or making lunch at breakfast time.

I have a ton of wood gas stoves, got to admit this is my least fav design, to tall so less stable, to large holes at the bottom so when its windy embers from the bottom blow away, no ash tray, to narrow so you are forced to load it with less wood for a top down burn, i would prefer the lixada copy of something like the silverfire over this.
@englishwoodsman

Hi mate I do agree with you it's a big stove, but at least I have a good boiling pot now 🤣🤣
@JohnSmith-df4vb
@JohnSmith-df4vb 3 года назад
@@englishwoodsman its still a decent stove if you fill it up just below the gas holes before lighting and start the fire from the top, use a wind shield to stop embers escaping from the bottom holes, i normally get about 20 min burn time without the need to fill it, the problem is that because its so tall you get the urge to fill it as you see the flames making less contact with the pot as the fire burns down, not tested the burn time on something like wood cat pellets but most probably more. As a birthday present from the wife i would be more than happy to use it when ever we camp together if i know whats good for me lol.

Spencer... use the old Boy Scout trick. Coat the bottom of your pan lightly with dish soap prior to cooking. It prevents the pan from turning black, and won't harm anything.. The Boy Scouts- and others too I'm sure, have been doing that for decades, if not longer.
