This stove is designed with very lose tolerances to allow for some warpage. Even after the extreme burn test, it seems to be holding up very well. You have proved to me that this stove is quite capable. I will now go purchase one. Thanks.

Same here. Not only that, I don’t plan on letting it burn for almost 2 hours. Probably only 5-10 minutes at a time to boil water. Should last a long time that way.

You wanna go camping you wanna buy your first stove you look at the XL firebox and you think that’s like nearly 100 quid with extra parts if you want them but you look at this Chinese fire Box 20+ quid no extra parts cheap as chips and you wanna save a few pounds this is got to be your choice if you don’t have extra cash to spare and I think even in a normal lifespan you are not going to burn the bits out of it you’re only gonna burn it for an hour or two a day at max I think it will last you a long time I have one and I Think it’s going to last me a lifetime Nice one Dan good test

The Firebox gets cult status, why? Because rich people with too much money buy them. Just like Rolex watches. At the end of the day, a stove is a stove, is a stove. I would like to see more common sense people promoting products and the improvement hacks that we all love. Great video from a great guy!

I have one of these. I also have a cast iron grill 😅 I have everything I could possibly need. When the Bush stove dies I'll switch to the grill. Just dig a shallow pit about 3 inches or so, dig a channel either side for air and fill with wood. Stick the grill over. You have cooking

I disagree. People rightly want to buy non made in china products. Steve at firebox also seems to be the real deal. An outdoorsman who designed firebox stoves because he wanted to use them, when out. I own one of these cheap stoves. I rate it, I like it, I use it.

Its a £25 stove..... enough said. Holds the fire, let's you cook o it, keeps you warm. I'd say you can't ask much more than that. Stove snobbery doesn't make it a poor choice for the budget conscious camper. Of course there will be better out there, but at a price. Great video and test Dan, love the honesty mate.

That is the point. If you see such ukrain stove they offer for 100 $ with western union, you know is a real thing and ask yourself for what you want it. Is allways such people tell around there is better stuff in the net and they find some things. But to be fair, you pay 25Euros for it and it is a safe way to make tea and coffee by fishing or camping. You can use it as a warm oven and dont get any trouble with a closed system like this if you cook with fire and wood. So ask yourself what you want. In basic training or in a shelter you would love such item cause is that what give you a warm place without have to take a donkey for carry your stuff. It helps you to cook in the field canteen and provide you hot tea. You can fold it and take it with you. Compare it to the Esbit cooker or to the Coleman. From weight is great. Wood rests you fire are for free and that way is a big effort for your budget. You even can use it more then 1 time

Just watched this again and a great video! However ive just seen another demo of this same stove and one of his subscribers said that the stove handles actually raise upward to accommodate the top grill...pushing through the grill supports...this allowing for a more sturdier position. I don't understand! anything you put fire to will warp! Yes! thinner metal you warp more then thicker metal, but dose that stop the function, and purpose of the stove, and what it was designed to do.... in the case of this stove...NO it dose NOT!!!! The original FireBox wood wood stove is an awesome stove, and is and has a far superior build quality, and a ton of accessories. I have an MSR pocket Rocket2, UCO Flat pack grill, and it has( warped) and still is an awesome grill, so as far as cooking outside, This little stove is awesome! I got mine 2 weeks ago, I LOVE IT!!!!!

Many thanks for a great and honest video. Questions for you: Why did you modify top grill plate? Why not fit that plate turned 90 degrees and lift front and rear handles to keep top plate in place? Doing that a frying pan or large enough diameter kettle will be sitting on handles about 10mm above grill plate allowing flames to flow freely. PS. Just bought one of these on eBay for £10 with delivery. UK supplier.

Whats the chances on you actually using this firebox the way you have in this test? Pretty unlikely I say. However, I'd be super happy with it. Of course its going to buckle a bit with that heat and I think its performed really well! Your ashpan mod will even allow it to get hotter than normal as the embers aren't falling out! Plus, you can buy this 5 times for the price of the original! So now Dan, do the same with the FireBox XL. be good to see if that bows at all. Oh and finally. Don't forget One is stainless and the other is Titanium! Thanks for making the videos. Stay safe! All the best. Paul

For price point , two fat thumbs up . If You just HAVE to combat the sides warping , run a threaded rod across the stove . Run hinge side to hinge side . Split distance from top of stove to top of feed opening. ( or put rod , or rods where they would do most good ) . That should help stop warping .

The box serves its purpose well and I don't suppose it was designed and built to withstand the heat involved with a re-entry into the Earths atmosphere from outer space. Never the less, I can't understand how it can be ruined with warpage so badly after a quick fry up or whatever and a coffee or two. If anybody really needs to create the heat similar to Krakatoa (_East of Java), warmer outdoor clothing could be the answer. It would certainly save the blood, sweat and tears of having to cut so many trees down which would be involved with processing the necessary fuel load. Honestly.....some people !!!😁😂

I bought a Bushbox XL and after a few burns it warped to the extent I had to force it open and closed. You could spend silly money like me or a few quid but the result is the same - eventually, steel warps. I guess it comes down to whether you are happy with working practises and environmental considerations which are bound to be different in China compared to Germany. Then there's the design process. Someone has a great idea, develops it, patents it for a company only like Lixada to then knock out cheap copies. That does not seem fair to me.

I just got one of these with the added folding pot stand that sits on top for $20. I've used it a couple of times and put some serious heat to it. It does warp a bit but is easily fixed. For $20, I can't complain one bit. Wasn't expecting much to begin with but was pleasantly surprised by this bottom of the barrel srove. You have to take it for what it is and not expect a $100 performance from a $20 stove. It'll do in a pinch and if it does go broke or you loose it, you're not out anything. I'd say with a few mods, it's performance could be improved. Just have to take it for what it is.

I have been using it now for 3 years, so a good 14+ hikes for multiple days (over 40 burnings) and it still is in perfect condition…. I even added 4 interior walls to make a gasifier for a hotter fire, plus I added a floor with less holes to limit the air flow and maximize the burn time (for my winter hikes)….it is a great stove and I will always have this with me…..

In my opinion, you are having these problems because (like me) you bought an inferior version of the same thing for maybe £2 cheaper. It has a worse base plate, and has no hinge for it that attaches it permanently to the body of the stove. When I made an extra gauze plate for the better model, it had no rattle at all. I dont think I am allowed to link you, but just search for "Folding Wood Burning Stove Stainless Steel Home/ Outdoor Camping Picnic" and make sure you get the drop down / permanent base.

You should have used some ash or beech. Sycamore burns very cold. Beech is the hottest, followed by ash. Oak and elm can generate heat when very well seasoned and cut thin. Pine comes next. Then things like cherry and spruce. Then willow and poplar towards the bottom of the list. And at the very bottom of the list is sycamore. It generates 1/3 as much heat if you are lucky. Not an ideal test.

Ok so I bought this since I’m getting ready for either Marshall law or civil war here in the US because of the election 🗳 so I’ve stocked up on dry and can foods for my boys and I in my apt with a balcony . I hope it works for cooking because everything here is electric and they have been doing rolling blackouts (no reason givin) so I’m pray this will work 💜🎚🇺🇸

Tested mine on first burn when I had a household only bbq last week. Not as extreme as yours because I didn't set out to test it but it was going all night along side my UCO firebowl. It did really well. Warped a bit but still folded up normally. Anyway, still offering to pay you to mod mine like you have done yours. Can drop off wherever as I'm based in your town.. This was a great test and a great vid.

As it is closed, it doesn’t looked warped…. Mine has not warped after 28 uses….. but the first 5 burns I did low and slow burns to break it in first and that seemed to work to prevent warping with massive heat…..Charcoal for the first 5 burns then after that I build my fire to be like a Swedish stove style inside for intense, untrained hot heat output and never warped…

Okay so after horribly abusing and overheating this stove then metal fire way too hot for what it needs to cook or anything else it closes better than my brand new one I'm looking forward to playing some fire in it and making mine clothes as good as yours. Thank you for the reviews sir and just FYI this is some nut job in Ohio from the United States so we're two people separated by a common language

I think it's perfectly fine. And ultimately it's thin enough to just bend it back if it warps too bad. If you made it thicker it would still warp but be harder to bend back

Thank you. Seems pretty good for non-cast iron.

this is basically a foldable rocket stove.. and as long as you dont expose this to water,, which will open it to moisture and potential rusting.. this just might last a lifetime.. and for the money paid.. let the viewers decide.

Overall mpst people wouldnt give it such a hard burn for a boil or quick fry for hours. But as a small stove for food prep it ticks the boxes for the money

Piece of shit. These fires. I bought a little bbq. Used it twice and it's fucked. I even sent pics to seller. And they want me to send it back so they can inspect it. I don't have time for dat.
