166PolarBear: On her mother's side, she's of Portuguese and Indian heritage, by way of Trinidad; and on her father's side, she's of French and sub-Saharan-African heritage, by way of Martinique. She was born in France, grew up mostly in Ireland and now lives in the UK. She was distressed to learn she had black colonial ancestors in Martinique who owned black slaves. There's an episode of Who Do You Think You Are featuring her that tells the whole story - it used to be on RU-vid but appears to have been taken down.
