@@jimcarter4929 agreed. I just have to think that Cheney and all the other GOP are simply making a gamble on how the Republican Party will look in the coming months and years. I’d guess nearly all members know the election was not stolen, but because trump is still so overwhelmingly popular amongst their voters, they’re forced to line up behind him in order to remain in power because they’re betting on trump retaining this popularity. However, Cheney (and maybe a couple others) is betting that trumpism will die down and return to business as usual pre-trump. In reality, the only people who will truly lose this gamble are the American people, especially if the GOP are successful in implementing their voter suppression laws.

Almost every Republican representative believes this (because they are educated lawyers, and understand what evidence is), but they know they can't say it, or the base will eat them alive and oust them. Getting rid of Cheney is just doubling down on what they all know is a lie (not counting MTG and Boebert here). It's not a long term winning strategy as the youth generations become the largest in America, by far, and the Boomer generation continues to shrink. Their only chance was to pull back towards the center, and try to recruit some young voters. The millennial generation is already the largest alive by a huge margin, no wonder blue wins elections. Gen z will only add to that. Republicans just won't win anymore with this strategy...sad fact. You'll have to live through it, as will everyone else. The youth just aren't going to go for this strategy, and as time goes on, the youth will become the primary holders of power in America, as is always the case. What does any of this have to do with "cancel culture"? I get that you don't like that aspect of the left (you'd probably be surprised how few people on the left actually think this way...you should look at the polling on these issues, y'all are getting angry about a handful of college students who haven't experienced the real world yet)
