The public believe we exist in a Churchillian world, where a leader can unilaterally commit the country to an apparently lost cause. Politics since WW2 has developed so that whole continents move in lockstep, overseen by a managerial class with one eye on a comfortable exit.

So basically we don't live in a democracy where who we vote for make the key policies, it's done by others who aren't elected, so what's the point of voting for the party you feel has the right policies for you when their hands are tied and they can't change a dam thing!. Which is what I got from watching this!.

The Anglo-sphere center Right has been key to reducing our ancestral homeland to an economic zone open to the World in the interests of international finance. We live under a international oligarchy now.

Most people that go into politics, go in with ideals and dreams of change! At the end of their career, they will have only achieved the knowledge that changing the system is near on impossible! So yes, we need a system overhaul!

Interviews with UK politicians makes me glad I emigrated. She is right though…the UK needs reform in the civil service. I worked in it and recall my American colleague saying we had two gears sideways and reverse!

Honestly has to be one of the best PR cover ups by the treasury claiming the mini budget was the reason for crashing bond market and hence rise in mortage rayes. Basically we owned 60% of the worlds LDI’s which were sensitive to interest rises since the interest you have to pay back on LDI’s matches the current interest rates and given inflation at the time of course interest rates rose. Pensions were also heavily invested in LDI’s. When interest rates rose the BOE decided to sell/short its LDI’s shares hence crashing the bond market, also made worse by the strengthening US dollar and asian markets taken advantage of UK owned LDI’s. The timing of all this was coincidental and the treasury used her mini budget as a scapegoat and how the hell they got away without an investigation is beyond me. Thousands of people have lost most of their pensions and rises in mortgages leading to people loosing their homes… Also what is annoying is that the OBR said there was a £70 billion blackhole of missing taxyoayer money when there wasnt when she announced her budget trying to make her cuts seem unaffordable. To those that say her tax cuts were unaffordable, although she cut loads of tax the plan was to freeze goverment spending indefinitely. Currently with Rishi even though he brings in more tax revenue, he had also spends more. If you look at the figures we actually would have already been better off with Liz tax cuts due to less government spending compared to now.

So not even our Prime Ministers are in charge of this country.

As a Conservative Party Member I voted for Liz Truss - the IMF moved her out and 'installed' Sunak and Hunt instead. I'm no longer a member of the Conservative Party.

Prior to Brexit I had been reading a number of biographies of leading politicians from both the left and right. Many of them complained about the restraints that the EU had put on their actions. It is interesting that Liz Truss is now putting forward very similar complaints about the Establishment in the UK. For example the EU were blamed for high levels of immigration but now it is the OBR that are to responsible.

& yet the Minister for pork markets grifter somehow manages to completely fail to mention the City of London Crown Corporation, the W.E.F., ‘Elbit Systems’ or The Pilgrims Society 😂

Yes, this is not the real problem, and Liz knows this very well, maybe it could also be emigration, but the problem is that almost all companies that have profits of several million or more do not pay taxes, and the problem is not only here, the profit of those who do not pay taxes are not invested in the UK, money goes to other places, but they all, I mean the government, have businesses that do this.

Immigration. Theresa May signed the United Nations Migration Compact in 2018. This entitles anyone to migrate regardless of their circumstances. It doesn't take a genius to work out that the migration will be one way traffick, i.e., migration from countries outside Europe, mostly third world countries. The UN regards criticism of this compact as hate speech.

I might read her book as a piece of fiction, a novel. I don't see libraries categorising it under non-fiction, though.

Her inability to explain her position on Brexit completely destroys her credibility and clarity of thought. She is a professional politician who rose to be PM, but she admits she didn't realise the power of the bureaucracy (ie. lack of democracy) until after the referendum. She should have referred to the 52% of the population who could see it as plain as day. I despair of our political class. They are clearly drawn from the wrong pool.

What Truss doesn't mention is she did not consult the Bank of England about her plans. So they didn't have a chance to counsel her on whether Bond Market changes would be risky.

She sounds confused on the issue of Trump. It's true that he gave Ukraine some Javelins, but that was because he was hoping for something in return, namely a compliant Zelensky. But to deduce from this that he would carry on supporting Ukraine is to ignore every statement he's made on the war. It's prudent to heed what people say rather than second guess what they're going to do once in office.

Didn't understand the extent of the affect from Brussels on the UK, while the general public who voted Brexit did, and is ok with 100-150k immigrants per year, while the general public want if stopped. Would agree that quangos such as the BoE operate entirely independently of public opinion and do so largely because what they rule about is a vastly important technical area that the public does not understand. QE has had really significant economic consequences that are just not understood generally even by the BoE. That we now have 35 year olds living with their parents because they can't afford house prices is one of the many consequences of such economic mismanagement by the technocrats.

People in the uk love truss , higher mortgages due in part to truss kwarteng s disastrous budget …. Her approval rating is fab to minus 75 , to that in perspective sunak is the most unpopular pm after truss at minus 35 ….. in other words she is hated by the uk public

Liz Truss still doesn't seem to realise that she was brought down by a rather arcane technicality in the financial markets, which caught everybody by surprise. (I mean everybody). Who knew that the defined benefits pension industry had structured their portfolios for maximum profits, using massive leveraging on their gilt holdings (with fancy derivatives to offset risks), called LDI, but which could not handle a spike in interest rates over too short a period, which in turn led to a cascading gilts market, owing to the margin calls and forced sales of their gilt holdings? This was the "crash flash" of the rather boring gilts market. Thank God, the BOE stepped in to save the economy. Question: have the defined benefits pension scheme portfolios been restructured to eliminate this risk, or is the time bomb still there?

She refers to “the left”, but I think she means the public/private partnership or managerialism as described by James Burnham (in the managerial revolution 1941). Whereby, the traditional capitalist entrepreneur is replaced by the asset management fund. Which has a symbiotic relationship with Government (buying rubbish government bonds and in turn expecting to be bailed out if they ever face problems). Because she doesn’t have the language to describe it, it leads to her saying things like “lefty bankers” etc which the public just laugh at.
