Discovering Lizz Wright is like hearing Etta James, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday or Patsy Cline the first time. Lizz is a class act and such a great voice singing great songs. Every one of her songs is a gem.
Trouble in the air, I don't want it but I got to breathe It's coming through the door Behind the shadows that surround me when I sleep Somehow I know that I can't pray this away I'll keep my head down And get up on this train, this train, oh I'm gonna ride this pain like a wave Lord, make me over, I don't wanna be afraid And when my time is come and gone I don't wanna be the one who can't let go What if I get lost and I call out to you And you don't save me The water comes too close And I don't have the time to give What you gave to me Well as long as my name don't change I'll be the same I loved you more than time Forever can't take that away Just let me ride this pain like a wave Lord, make me over, I don't wanna be afraid And when my time is come and gone I don't wanna be the one who can't let go There is a river running by the train It ain't trouble It's just layin' there, waiting in the wind Waiting in the wind Waiting in the wind Just let me ride this pain like a wave Lord, make me over, I don't wanna be afraid And when my time is come and gone I don't wanna be the one who can't let go Let me ride this pain like a wave Make me over I don't wanna be afraid And when my time is come and gone I don't wanna be the one who can't let
Such a beautiful song and Lizz is a beautiful person. I know the landscapes in this video very well, having walked the same ground many times. So cool.
Better late that never. I had a close friend who had an independent record label and he was always searching out music. Thats how I learned about her when she first hit the scene otherwise, I wouldn't have found out about her as soon as I did.
I just stumbled across this singer. She is so talented! I don't think she has gotten the attention she deserves though... more people should know about her :)
To KHindustani, Just listen to this sister sing and appreciate her for her talents without knocking her looks. We, who knows what true beauty looks like, see it around us in various shapes and forms. This sister is truly beautiful not just physically, but her inner beauty emanates from her soul, through her voices, into the music she presents. She is obviously strong enough as a woman to embrace who she is in all her naturalness while sharing the gifts she is here to obviously share.
I have never heard of this singer until recently. I saw her video of Four Women with Simone, and Dianne Reeves. I am glad I was introduced to this artist.
I have just learned of this lovely woman; I watched a television programme on Rogers on Demand "Bones, Season 6, Episode 9, and then the song part way through captivated me...'i wanna skip time, lay the hours aide and stay with you my baby..." that line hooked me and I am now looking forward to the Toronto show in February. Such simplicity Lizz you have and that's what I feel draws me/us to you. Bravo. Marlene "ZenSporty"
You're transfixed by her in concert. I have seen her in huge venues, intimate venues where she was a few table lengths away (Cinegrill in Hollywood) and it was as if she sang the show to me - she's so available and open that yes, you're completely drawn to her passion, her energy. She is a true artist! I absolutely love her!!
Natural beauty and talent ,,,,,,,,can't help but to love and support our own the world over and put them on a pedestal of thanks for sharing always believing that we'll never be dissapointed in the end result but bask in joy of knowing beauty is in all corners of the earth
