Join Anna and Alf in this video as they visit LLECHI CYMRU ( WALES SLATE ) UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE in LLANBERIS, SNOWDONIA, NORTH WALES, UK
Learn from Anna how and why in the summer of 2021 UNESCO decided that the NORTH WEST WALES SLATE LANDSCAPE deserved WORLD HERITAGE SITE STATUS. It recognises that this area is a TRULY IMPORTANTULTURAL LANDSCAPE .
Notable elements within this WORLD HERITAGE SITE for the SLATE LANDSCAPE OF NORTHWEST WALES included in this video are :
1. DINORWIG QUARRY and THE ANGLESEY BARRACKS (which are slate houses that the q)uarry workers from ANGLESEY lived in during the week when they worked up in the quarry before going back home to ANGLESEY for the weekend )
2. NATIONAL SLATE MUSEUM OF WALES
3. DINORWIG SLATE QUARRY HOSPITAL ( from a distance )
Anna and Alf also visit LLYN PADARN SSSI and LLYN PERIS and also walk up to look at DOLBADARN CASTLE which has guarded this area since the 13th CENTURY .
