This is Yuuka Kazami's second theme from Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story Yuuka: Right, I'm dressed and I've done my hair, let's battle! I can't get YU-MU out of my head either TT_TT
Yuuka is far from gentle in the canon. She's not a full-on sadist as she's depicted sometimes, but she has no qualms killing anyone that happens upon her sunflower field, and was described by ZUN in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense as having the very worst human friendship level among all youkai. I'm guessing the sadism depictions just took this and ran with it.
Actually, her being an old youkai made her develop a very polite attitude towards those who don't mean harm. She's even often seen shopping for flowers in the human village, albeit always giving off a pressuring aura around her.
@@God-ch8lq That specific quote was actually a joke on her part, and the reactions of the other characters kinda confirm this also. She basically bully and troll people in the PC-98 era. But yeah, she isn't a sadist but she is still a youkai, and an old one too, so yeah.
@@CannedPsycho- Yes, but best final boss song is Emotional Skyscrapper, then Pure Furies IMO (ppl still votes for Septtete of Dead Princess). Faint Dream easily gets 1st place as Final Boss (PC-98).
While yes, one of Akyu's databook things said 'She doesn't attack unless provoked', remember: - That's Windows Yuuka, not PC-98 - Akyu is unreliable - Even in PoFV she has bullying tendencies, like threatening pretty much everyone she fights. She also has disproportionate 'threats' in the PC-98 era, like 'Mist of atoms' and 'Gensocide is just a game'. Is she *as* bad as people make out? No, probobly not. Is she a harmless, sane, non-violent individual? Certainly not.
This was the first old touhou theme I ever heard. I've been hooked on these songs since. Though this one's my favorite, I also love Eastern Wind, Eternal Shrine Maiden, Now Until the moment you Die, and Eternal Paradise just to name a few. I think the old song titles were better too. They all felt more emotion driven.
Robo lopez WE were talking? You kinda just showed up. Also, I lot of my friends got into touhou from that song. So I can't say it's the worst thing to ever come from the franchise. Oh, Cazisto Vanquist, if you're reading this, thank you for that list of the best PC-98 songs. I had no idea what other fantastic songs came from the era.
FunniestofFunny You based your comment on the word that I said. Ridiculous who are you trying to defend? Or your just trying to tell me that i'm no better?
You know, the more I listen to these older themes, the more I realize that ZUN recycled a lot of them. This particular one _definitely_ went into _Crystallized Silver_. You can hear some _Reincarnation_ in _Septette for the Dead Princess_ (which in turn was used in _Capital City of Flowers in the Sky_ and _The Gensokyo the Gods Loved_). And, of course, _Maiden's~Capriccio_ and _Love-Colored Magic_ led to _Maiden's Capriccio~Dream Battle_ and _Love-Colored Master Spark_, respectively. Kinda cool, ain't it?
Kaiser Dragon And my favorite: Magic Mirror, the melodies in that song are also in Legend of KAGE, Complete Darkness, Maiden's Capriccio, Magic Square, Plastic Mind and Nostalgic Blood from the East .
I remember it was 2am, and I battled her and won this game was my first 1cc on touhou and I still proudly say it lol (and I almost burnt my eyes on the process)
I find it sad that Bad Apple has more views than the final boss theme, especially since this theme is just so much better. Bad Apple is just typical PC-98 ZUN, while this theme is actually different from most other things he's done.
At least it's still ZUN's work. Look at deadman plagiarizing a bossa nova cover of Yuuka's theme. The cover even got taken down in favor of deadman's "remix", a little insulting to the Touhou community, right?
I understand that she's an old fella who isn't really interested in action anymore, but still, I'd love to see her having an important role in a manga instead of making simple background cameos. And no, I'm not even asking for her to reappear in a new game anymore, because we all know how unlikely it is for that to happen...
Entire Arc of her adopting all of the Faries out of boredom, Sakuya facing her off because the Fairy Maids, the Faries are just too scared to run away.
Doesn't mean Yuka isn't a very easy boss. She's a Stage 3 boss with too many attacks. I'm not kidding. When I first heard Yuka appeared in two stages. I thought Stages 3 and 5.
Exactly what I feel when fanon Flandre appears. Yuuka is just another bored and powerful youkai that finds great fun in teasing others, like making others annoyed/uneasy or simply manipulating others for fun, like described by ZUN (Youkai moe). She doesn't really attack anyone unless they're either close to her power level or attacks her first. The reason for fanon Yuuka being sadistic is probably because of the quote from MS "Genocide is just another game" which gave that sort of impression.
Okay so, I really love Sleeping Terror, and her theme from PoFV, but I feel like I love this the most. (as well as the unused version) All of Yuuka's themes (including the stage themes, if you count those) are the best.
I had it stuck in my head for months without being able to tell which theme it was. Glad i re-listened to some old high quality video game rips and found it. Thanks, SiIva.
This is a lil late but I don't think you need to worry too much, I actually 1cc'd this game on normal which is my first attempt with ReimuA and this is literally the second time I've touched this game after two years or so because I finally found a way to play the PC-98 games on my mac lmao, I feel like the game is more generous with lives, so don't be afraid to use bombs when ya need, hope you're able to finish it! Good luck!
Fun headcanon time: Despite being one of the most powerful youkai, Yuuka has a horribly crippling fear and weakness to fire due to her nature-based abilities. Like, to the point where you could flick on a lighter in front of her and it'd put the absolute fear of god in her
This theme of Yuuka's starts off intensely, as if she encountered the shrine maiden and the magician again, _except_ she's *fully* prepared and *even more* powerful than before, and she's ready to fight the duo _for real_ this time.
*[Oriental Demon]* YUUKA KAZAMI Yuuka is a caretaker of flowers of all seasons, likened to a force of nature holding tremendous power. She is presumed to be very old. She loves seasonal flowers, so throughout the year she moves to the respective places where the flowers grow: spring flowers for spring, summer flowers for summer, autumn flowers for autumn and sometimes winter flowers for winter. Yuuka is a troublesome and playful youkai. She holds strength in high regard and likes to look down on and toy with those weaker than her. However, she also tends to visit the Human Village and comes off as fairly polite, in addition to often appearing at the Hakurei Shrine on peaceful terms. (from TouhouWiki) ZUN's comment about the track: "The last boss theme. It has a very final feel to it. I think it came out pretty cool somehow~ Nobody really knows if Yuuka herself is cool. Personally, I think I rather like her."
My favorite Touhou character is Yuuka since her name is one letter off from my name, at least in English pronunciation. In Japanese, it's spelled differently using different kanji.
Can't avoid thinking of Yuuka with crazy wide open eyes when the main melody comes and at the second half two. Enjoying the fight and lusting for more and more. "Do you still think this is a dream, dear!?" Even though it might actually contradict her personality, this theme fits a crazy person so much~
I feel like Yuuka's craziness is a side-effect of early installment weirdness. In folk lore, youkai are not nearly as cutesy or cheerful as many of them appear in Touhou (even the more "malicious" ones such as Nue). They were unhinged, torturous nightmares. So I would imagine that for his first final youkai boss, ZUN wanted to stay true to the folklore.
What!? Safespot!? Oh I never knew.. Anyway, I said Normal mode, and the ring of star... ask me don't you, down twice, up once, done. No extreme luck there, because, they were too simple, some of those kind I was met before, like master spark I have fought Marisa in IN Lunatic (It's even double spark, but well), one spell of Yuuka in PoFV. You can say that Sleeping Yuuka got quite skill to beat, but if you known what It do before it launch it's got easier a bit. Even without hitbox, you still know where it is (playing other game too much make you clearly see hitbox without focus), and another, stage 3 and 4 rape me so much so I got 1 life left, thanks to stage 6 given me 1 more so I can get out of panic and scare of 2cc. If you think carefully, does it easier than stage 3-5 of SoEW? Also the music there is better (PoDD is the best, no argument), I made it through like beating a stage 6 boss in easy. Well sadly I cannot replay it, and I don't even know how to use fraps...
Yes, Byakuren's "Devil's Recitation" Spellcard alludes to both Shinki and the spell she uses that looks exactly like the one shinki used before her last spell.
whats funny is that I accidentally added the unused one to spotify so I never knew there was a 2nd melody until I decided to look at Akyuus untouched score again
yeah, thats the one. and now though i'm not sure about it either, but it may of been the second part of the song if I recall. Yuuka's gotta one of my favorites too. Every time I look at her I think "SCREW THE RULES I HAVE GREEN HAIR!".
The Genesis actually used a purposefully inferior/cheaper version of the same line of chips, the YM2612 (the PC-98 used the YM2608, and yes, the number is lower, but the chip is better).
I had to replay LLS many times to get through it on Normal mode. Reimu is very cruel with her ying-yang orb bouncing around. But Yuuka's double spark is much more scary than that. I completed with no bomb and life left.
This has better mastering than the unused version, but the unused version is better overall. Still - never a disappointing theme. This version just sounds even MORE like NecroFantasia. Besides, this one's a little more macabre, and the later part... is actually better than the unused version... ok i can't choose anymore. They're both too good. This one's more final-boss-y, I guess? But the other one starts out better... but this one ENDS so much better, and doesn't prematurely loop...
