LLS Gengetsu's Theme: Cute Devil ~ Innocence 

The differences in difficulty between Yuuka and Gengetsu I think show their character quite a lot. One holds back, the other doesn't. *Yuuka:* Haha, this is going to be fun, I'll go easy on you so lemme mess around. *Gengetsu:* You just beat up my sister. I'm going to leave you as nothing but a pile of ash for that. Even the themes seem to reflect that. Yuuka's two themes are powerful, but playful. This theme? Is quiet, and menacing.

Oh boy, just look at the time.

Gengetsu is about as sweet and innocent as Mima on a killing spree.

The intro of this song really sets the tone.. It's 'time'..

Now just think about this. An extended video of Gengetsu's theme for 10 minutes. That's approximately 3-5 minutes of dodging you-know-what.

ZUN was a genius at video game music even then.

Gengetsu implies she & her sister are both children (the two of them together make a fully fledged adult according to her). So now imagine if Gengetsu wasn’t a child and then what her final attack would be like (also the protagonist still the one who barged into mugetsu’s world for literally no reason other than to beat the two, gengetsu is fully in the right to do that)

Cute Devil ~ Innocence has honestly become one of my most favorite tracks in the Touhou games. It's a shame I can't seem to find enough, or adequate arrangements of it. It's just so good a tune that deserves more recognition. :c

Man, I just realized that this theme has parts of Sleeping Terror and Bad Apple in it...

This sounds really different from most touhou theme from modern game. Cuz Green Eyed Jealously sound so sad, Emotional Skyscraper sounds emotional, The Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana sound strong and intense. But this? It sounds manacing and more quiet and absolutely scary.

This intro...it's one of the best in the serie imo, threatening and powerful. It's funny how many characters in the pc 98 have powerful or emotional themes while not having that much backstory or charisma. (And that's not a bad thing)

I feel like I can hear hints of Sleeping Terror in this. Very good song.

Despite the simplicity, repetition and the fact that there are many more brilliant Touhou themes out there, this...this is my favourite.

So, according to the title, Gengetsu is a cute, innocent demon. Despise that, sometimes she became the most feartful and most powerful demon. Sometimes she will just tear you in the most horrible way, just because she can. And even, manage to do it maintaining her cute part. Does it sounds familiar? **WARNING: UNPOPULAR OPINION** Gengetsu is just like Fannon Flandre, but x100 times better.

Good memories of listening to this for revisiting Bloons Player Pack 4. Especially during a visit at my father's apartment. Felt like some nostalgic times where I had to rely on skills and confidence to complete the games.

Gengetsu is, in my opinion, the single hardest Touhou boss. I can 1cc a few games on lunatic, and stomp through most extra stages, but Gengetsu is the only one that, to this day, I CAN'T beat.

Gengetsu is the best PC-98 character in my opinion.

The exact reason it's my favorite extra stage, if not for the appeal of fighting 2 mysteriously powerful characters in a row. It's amazing how the stage feels so difficult and then all of a sudden you've cleared it. Everything is intimidating on a whole new level which is alot of fun IMO. (It's also amusing to imagine the mid-boss to be Nue.) Well, the point is that the ominous and terrifying feeling of the theme is what makes it for me.

The theme "Cute Devil ~ Innocence" hides something in it. I think it's ironic to have the term "Devil" in her theme even though she looks like an angel(and her form might be one of her illusions). And the word "Innocence" isn't really that innocent, something that is unreal or fantasy with her and the scenario. Her theme may also sound terrorizing and mischievous, as her appearance can deceive your mind(why do you think there's a "Devil" in spite of her angelic appearance). Maybe the moon(I mean the extra stage background of hers') has to do with their (illusory) powers, and uhh... ...unfortunately, the points of the scenario are insufficient since we don't know why the heroes are there(in Mugetsu's Fantasy World), or maybe, ZUN intentionally concealed the story behind that world. As her name states "*Gen*getsu", she is still, somehow, considered a notable boss for Touhou Gensoukyou besides Yuuka. Edit: (*sorry for my bad English, I'm not native to it)

A very repetitive song, but not necessarily in a bad way. It's one of the few Touhou songs that borders on terrifying. Even though her actual character is barely fleshed out, this song alone makes her very interesting. Though I guess that applies to a lot of PC-98 characters.

Very menacing and evil-sounding final boss theme, I assume. (nope, it's the 2nd extra stage boss theme, lol) I don’t know where my favorite parts are. A little repetitive like the last theme but I think I’ll say that it’s pretty good/great, I guess

She's certainly a cute devil. But everyone in the touhou series is cute.

That moment when you play against her for the first time.. Just doing a random run after quite some time.. You don't remember everything but you manage to beat Mugetsu for the first time and when you battle with Gengetsu.. you get over the first half of her HP, and you die but you decide to practice.. and on the same day you clear that stage.. Damn I'm really telling my experience here now xD But honestly this is the first Extra Stage I've cleared.. And Gengetsu is just.. Damn xD I don't want to time her out.. I certainly don't want to.

tbh Nocti's video on Gengetsu made me change how I view gengetsu, i always view her as an evil twin sister of sort but nowadays i see her as a kind (and super protective) sister to mugetsu that will do ANYTHING even send you like a thousand bullets per second to protect her sister

I swear to god, the extra stage boss themes ALWAYS go faster past midnight! Not just this one, but ALL OF THEM! FROM EVERY GAME! The percussion at 0:16 that's supposed to start off slow and then quickly speed up starts at its regular speed right from the start! Am I going crazy?!
