These duramaxs sound so good, gramps has one exactly like this but with a full badge delete and it’s a 6.6 lbz Duramax 2006 (arguably the best Duramax)
My best guess is it's the fuel pump being a little noisy while cold. It's pretty high pressure, and on the initial start it sprays sometimes 2x or 4x more fuel than at idle, which would reduce the pressure at the pump, then once it started and the fuel pressure came back up the pump got a little louder until it warms up. On a side note it sounds really similar to the electric hydro brake pump on my grandpa's two 90s international 4700s.
