Every year I travel up into Michigan to visit a friend who lives in the Huron-Manistee National forest. We like to hike, bike, canoe the rivers and site see (it's always good to get out into nature). We also like to listen to music and tinker in audio electronics. Please visit his channel called Hill's Workbench:

I've lived in a rural area my entire life and in one particular location since I was 6 years old. It's nice except that there are no services whatsoever and thus no broadband Internet. I'm *still* paying for a dial-up connection (yep) for my father, though I have, thankfully, found a single location in my home where I can *barely* get a single Verizon LTE tower. I use a phone hotspot for Internet. I've stayed in urban and suburban areas on numerous occasions, but can never sleep :(. I'm sure that you get used to the noise and lights, but I'll never willingly live in a populated area. However, as people drive more and more, people from town now constantly come out here to party and drive their trucks and ATV's on private property without permission. Over the past 2 decades, it's become a nightmare and we often have people banging on our door at 3AM drunk out of their minds and wanting us to pull them out of the mud or to use our phone because there's no cell service here. We've had 2 car fires and at least 3 vehicles driven into flood water in freezing weather such that the wet, muddy occupants had to shelter in my living room until help arrived. The point is that living in a rural area was once a reasonable tradeoff where you exchanged services and nearby shopping for peace and quiet, but today there is no more peace and quiet; idiot townspeople in trucks and ATV's simply ruin everything and they have *zero* respect for anyone living here. With 4X4 machines, they will even find you miles away from paved roads regardless of how many No Trespassing signs they pass. They seem to believe that they own everything. We occasionally even have people running *chainsaws* at 2-4AM. I grew in a very hospitable family that helped everyone that we could, but we are now so sick of liars claiming that they were "just turning around" while their vehicle is 200 yards off the road in a mud pit that we now hate everyone :(. Nearly every single person that has ever asked for help has lied to us and stolen whatever we let them borrow. We even had one car beg us for a chain to use and then hold their middle finger out their window as they drove back past with the chain now theirs. After losing 4 chains and a come-a-long this way, we no longer loan anything to anyone. I grew up thinking that most people were nice, but the last 20 years have taught me that most people are worthless, selfish criminals and I resent them for ruining my worldview. I no longer believe anything anyone tells me, as most people today simply think it's entirely normal to lie. There's nothing I hate more than a lying thief, yet we're now surrounded by them out here. So, be warned that living in the countryside doesn't keep the morons away, as they'll simply drive out from the cities and towns in their loud off-road machines to harass and rob you, even while telling you to your face that people living out here should not expect to have "modern" services like phone or Internet. I'm not making that up, as multiple people have told me that and one of them was asking to use my landline phone when he said it! 2 others were AT&T technicians (!!), though they seem to thankfully be retired as the ones I meet now are quite friendly and would like to help us more if only the company would let them. Oh, and our "landline" is a temporary cable that runs in the ditch beside the road for about a mile before connecting to a pole and AT&T has no plans to ever fix it *or* to build a cell tower here, so they're just hoping that we'll die soon. The state regulators even changed the rules so that telephone companies are no longer required to provide landline service :(. Our services are *worse* than they were 30 years ago. So, no services, but no peace and quiet, either. If you live in a town or city, don't romanticize the countryside; it's rapidly being destroyed by awful people from the cities and their toys. I'm sure that all modern American aren't bad, but the ones we "meet" out here don't deserve the air that they breathe :(. Selfishness reigns supreme.

@@JohnAudioTech Depends on where you are, as the mosquitoes are much worse in the nearest town than where I live in the country. Perhaps the bats or other creatures here help keep them under control, but it's usually not bad and a couple squirts of DEET will work miracles with ticks and mosquitos. Ticks have gotten *much* worse in recent years, however, as 2 new species have shown up thanks to the warming climate and they are both smaller (harder to notice) and carry Lyme disease, whereas the resident species did not. I have to worry a lot more about ticks than mosquitoes.

I did notice looking over your video's on the LM1875 that you have what look like genuine IC's. The chips also seem to perform like genuine. The chips that came in my kits are bad performers compared to the genuine chips I swapped them with. Also you get shortened lead Nichicon filter caps all mine have been Chongx, of course the Rubycon input cap, some of my kits had them and others EMG 10uF. Glad you talked about the chips as that has been bugging me for hours. The kits cost a few of dollars on Aliexpress but genuine chips cost me 4 pounds alone here in the UK.

Great to get away from it all, now and again John. Blimey, I thought I was seeing things - Snickers look alike. Your friend's "bird's nest" prototypes reminded me where I started, and they still have distinct advantages but are a bit hairy to adapt. All the best, Beamer.

Power output is supply voltage dependent. With a +/- 25 volt supply you can get ~30 clean watts from this kit at 8 Ohms. For 50w, you need to move up to a more powerful IC, such as the LM3886.

Last 4 years every time I look at buying into chinese chip amps I start stalking your channel once again. This time I thought i'd just comment and get your help off the bat I'm looking for a 12V Class D Mono amp to power my car sub. I dont need anything to show off, just good sound quality and decent output @12V. Currently I'm using a TPA 3118 2.1. It's the unit with tone controls and filters and it works well in terms of quality. I only use it for subwoofers but I do have to turn the subwoofer output up moderately on my headunit/decoder/DAC. I'm planning on NE5532 pre-amp with tone control and using a MONO TPA3118 chip with nothing but volume control. Perhaps I should get a 12V to 24V transformer instead? Do you have any other suggestions or alternatives, John?

John do you know why Guitar Amps and some automobiles use a Positive Grounding System and what would need to be done to use these kits on a Positive Ground System since all the Electrolytic Capacitors are all Negative Grounded?
@JohnAudioTech
@JohnAudioTech 2 года назад
Some older circuits (1960s) used germanium transistors and used positive ground chassis. Positive ground chassis with negative grounded capacitors doesn't make any sense.

I have question - 1. Did Texas instruments modified the appearance of Lm1875 to look like Tda2030A with scoops on both sides after they acquired national semiconductors ? I am asking as I noticed all Lm1875 available now look different from what I saw in your videos.
@DasAntiNaziBroetchen
@DasAntiNaziBroetchen 2 года назад
All of those "LM1875" on chinese boards are fake, if you go by TI's own specs. There are articles about it online.

@@DasAntiNaziBroetchen what should be the heatsink size (length and width) for single Tda2030A Ic if it has to deliver 10 watts@4 ohms load on 12-0-12 V transformer ? I want to make a 4 channel sound system with 4 such chips so I want to know the heatsink size for single Ic so I can cut out a single large heatsink for all 4 Ics. I searched this online but got confused answers and also the datasheet I don't understand as it says something about thermal resistance. So please tell me

@williamcolvin3609
@williamcolvin3609 2 года назад
It says it is a 120W Amplifier Module - so I assume that is a misprint as it is a 20 Watt IC.
