It's quite impressive that they're this close, while the Hypecars at 80% cheaper to run than the LMP1s! Hopefully this'll attract more customers and manufacturers!
You cant compare those laps. The hypercar got massive traffic through the fastest points. If you look at the individual sector times, the middle sector looked rather identical. I think that they are a lot closer than the video suggests
They are not. Sadly. The Hypercars are 160 to 180kg heavier, have half the horsepower and while they have colossal downforce they have a huge frontal area making them super draggy. The Hypercar is not a prototype racecar its disgrace. A fucking disgrace the Hypercar would not have one a single LMP1 race since 2000. LMP900, LMP1, All of then were faster. Even the "Baby LMPs" of 2011 were way way faster... those cars are a shame...
Amazing how people only see "slower car" One car has development budgets that skyrocketed to Formula 1 levels The other is fairly reasonable to operate on a budget
Would be good to see a comparison w/o traffic on both sides. While the out come I'm sure would still have the TS050 having a faster pace, the traffic did contribute to the big gap we saw.
actually they have almost 1000hp... They do weigh in almost 150kg more and have a bit less downforce because of the strict regulations. But they won't be 10-15 seconds slower... Maybe 10 seconds slower at Le Mans which is a very big track but not nearly as much in the other tracks.
@@LorenzoTuratti somehow I read that the combined power was 930hp on this toyota GR010... but yes ive read several sources saying its about 680. Which source was the one that stated 930? Cant remember but I do believe reading that number.
1100kg 650HP vs 900kg 1000HP...really where is the evolution on this?i used to thought the WEC tested the latest motor techs in order to put them into work some years after in the market of supercars first and later more common cars We can only wait for new brands to entry or this will a complete failure
Gr10 is heavier and its hybrid power is cut by 45 percent simply because there is no competition if it was to be de restricted if would run same as tso50 or faster it has better more aerodynamically capable body
@@MrMegacurie it was running fully open when audi and Porsche was racing when they pulled out hybrid power was cut by 45 percent and weight was added cutting power from 986bhp or 1000ps to around 750bhp and was still a lot faster than competition until competitirs switched to new Gibson engine then it was very close race
There is a gap of almost 8 seconds between TS050 and GR010 fastest qualifying at Spa. And if you are talking about restrictions, just look at Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo without restriction and you will understand that Hypercars do not stand a chance against LMP1, also they are way cheaper and less advanced in term of technology.
Which years? 2020/2021? The TS050 did get massive Performance brakes because of ots dominance from 2018 onwards. The fastest was car in 2017. Also the GR010 also was two seconds faster in 2021 than 2022 in Spa because of again massive BoP brakes...
i don't get the "hypercar class". It's supposed to be a top tier performance class on a much smaller budget than LMP1 hybrid cars of the 2014-17 era. All the work to make a new chassis, powerplant and hybrid system, and it is only 1-2 seconds faster than a LMP2 car which uses a standardised chassis and engine...
Dude only Toyota was left in LMP1. Why would you hold to this class when its obviously dying out. LMDH brings new life to Le Mans and WEC and helps it on the long run because its a lot cheaper
Yeah. Either LMP1 RIPs so that we get a new class with more competitive seasons and more manufacturers or LMP1 RIPs without a replacement because nobody has the cash to join (except Toyota of course). Your choice. When Audi and Porsche left the class, I knew LMP1 was over. It was only a matter of time.
That's just the way the mic was installed in that (right) video. It is not from a tv broadcast. The engine pretty much sounds the same because it pretty much is the same engine (just larger version).
