Thanks for this! Yeah, some people might make fun of such a simple thing, but everybody is a beginner with something at some point. Even though I have a M1 carbine that mag loads the same way as an AK, I mostly shoot my pistols. And sure enough, just as you described, I tried to load my new AK mag the same way I'd load my EDC pistol mag. 😂 So thanks, brother, you did save me some time!

Thanks buddy as a matter of fact my 21 year old self was coming from shotties and pistols just acquired my first rifle an AK loaded the first 4 like a pistol and was like just maybe there is a better way and someone with the hookup on RU-vid so thanks again for the free knowledge much appreciated

Some info: TEST your magazines for fit as well. Most AK mags will fit okay, few to some will have fitting issues that either grinding or filing or sanding can solve. Could be the magazine release tab area, the front catch area (hook?). I don’t know the exact nomenclature of the part I’m referring to...more knowledgable AK people, chime in.

Get yourself a loading table. Save so much time and it's easier. AR mags, 30 rounds all day everyday. Never had an issue overseas and in my 20 years military. Storage of full mags, no worries. Get yourself the bolt hold open followers if your mag doesn't have them. They are cheap and easy to install.

I'm fairly new to the AK platform, what are some good mid-tier mags? I know magpul makes some, and their AR mags are basically the go-to for most people. I would assume their AK mags are good, too. But there's gotta be other manufacturers to look out for when pmags are OOS
