I got to see an AC-130 in person at the Charleston Air Show last weekend. The 105 millimeter gun is crazy impressive. I could easily fit my whole entire arm in the barrel.

In the mid-90’s I was stationed with the 160th at Campbell. We did a fire power display that encompassed most every unit on Campbell and there were Air Force assets on static display on the tarmac. Including the most recent versions of the AC-130 and B-52. As well as a C5, C17 and tankers. The Gunship was very impressive! 🫡

If that's the case then why are we still using them??? How about the story of a A-10 that lost one wing while on a mission and returned to the base and safely landed!!! Let me ask you a question-How many other fighter planes that go out on a warfare mission in these modern times have lost one wing and returned to base and landed safely???
