Who here is rewatching this video in advance of hopefully seeing the Loading Time Moonbase Mk. 6 moving video? I still can't believe that they were only in Mk. 5 for five years.
It's weird seeing what Mk 5 looked like originally after seeing it for so long. It's like the uncanny valley of a friend you know. That's them, but not.
Not gonna lie, I'm so elated that you were able to bring the window with you (53:32). I was nearly crying at that point! I thought that you guys were never going to be able to use it again, but I'm so happy it was able to be salvaged when the raccoons took over Moonbase 3. I'm also elated that you were able to not only find a space to use so quickly, but one bigger than Delta as well! All the best to this new Moonbase. Cheers! *raises glass of Dark Matter*
I love how there's this unwriten rule that, if you find a santa hat whilst sorting through old boxes in storage, it must immediately be placed upon your noggin.
Not even gonna lie, the idea of a workplace that's like 'sure, nap here' to the extent that you added a bed is really nice to someone who's starting their *fifth job this year* hopefully next week.
Man, the amount of names I've seen for these straps is mind-boggling. Colson strips, zip straps, cable ties, tiewrap/tyrap, quick fastener, ladder strip, ... And then I'm still excluding the names I've heard in my native tongue (Dutch).
Love the new Moonbase. You guys deserve it. Here's to 5, nay 10 years of having that great place. Also have you guys considered just calling the studios "zones". You already got the Friendzone and the Bill Watt Memorial Food Zone, why not just call them "Podcast Zone", "Video Game Zone" and "Live Zone". Or maybe get some nice signs to put on the doors with their names, even just big letters A, B, and C. Perhaps a more enterprising fan of yours could make something like that. Also, get yourself some "On Air" lightup signs :)
Update: we're halfway there! 5 years down, and though it has been a plethora of times recently, the moonbase MK 5 is still going. In honor of both this and desert bus, I believe this is now Moonbase Omega.
This is genuinely great to see, and with each moonbase you guys have been getting more and more well-equipped and professional in your setup. This place looks fantastic and hopefully is a perfect fit at this point. Studio C is super great especially.
In all seriousness, that piece to camera at the end really hit home. I've been a fan since Checkpoint was on PATV and to see you finally in a position to dictate what you want and to see your vision realized is really gratifying and a culmination of years of hard work. I am so proud of everyone at LRR and am so gratified to have helped in my own way. Not because I'm on both Gratitude walls, but because you show everyone that it's worth it to support you guys. I'll be here for at least all 10 years (if you pick up that option) and am so excited to see what they bring now that I see the new space.
I may or may not have gotten a bit emotional at the end, there. I've been watching you guys since Phailhaus 25 (and still reference "She could from face that!" Do you still have that shirt, G?), so I was there only a few years after your humble beginnings. I know you guys all joke a lot about not being professionals, but you guys and this place really are just that. I really absolutely do feel that my donation went to a wonderful cause, and it's been so great watching you guys grow and spread tendrils of kindness like a Lovecraftian horror made of positivity, and I can't wait to see what the next five years with the possibility of another five years at this new office brings!
Look I won't lie to you, I'm definitely watching this sleep deprived well past 4 in the morning, but I feel like I've already gotten my contribution's-worth and then some. I was a fan way before I was operating Black Magics and wireless kits, but this whole video was a joy on personal and professional levels, which is pretty wonderful.
I absolutely teared up there at the end. I've watched you since the first Moonbase, and each one has progressed and improved on the last. It's been such a story of growth and success!
Just wanted to pop in and say, this past week was a bit of a hell week at work for me. Seeing this video on my Friday night was exactly what I needed. Helped me unwind, let me commiserate a little over all the scrambling, and ultimately made me really, genuinely happy to see you all in a great new space. I hope it's everything you wanted it to be because you folks deserve it.
Oh wow, the new Moonbase looks amazing! It looks super professional and you've made really great use of the space. Hope you get to stay there for as long as you guys want!
reminds me of when i was doing broadcasting & Film & TV production at college in the UK just wish i could find a few friends that want to start a production company
Studio C is the bomb! Nicely done with the lighting. Ben, excellent job on the editing, please let him continue. Thanks so much for these Digests, love 'em.
My heart swelled with so much joy watching this. Being able to see the amazing things you guys can create is just incredible. Here's to at least another five years in Moonbase MK V!
I could really feel the frustration that Graham was going through with the entire situation. I'm really glad that the new place lines up better with the needs of LRR and that they'll be able to stay for longer. Also: Ben did a really kickass job with the edit, especially the music choices.
My favorite part is when Graham's about to force the clip onto the first pipe and then it cuts immediately to both him and Ian now wearing gloves. Incidental comedy right there.
Whatever this cost you all, the finished product was absolutely worth it, your sets look amazing (especially the AFK and LRL sets, 'dat wood and cubes tho) and your office layout is great. It seems to me that this is perhaps the first time in LRR's life that your work spaces are really -yours- in design and not just the best you could do in a situation. Keep up the amazing work and we love you all, frands!
It makes me so happy that you guys were finally able to just go ahead and get everything setup properly instead of having to cobble something together with re-purposed equipment and whatever you could afford. The new place looks so professional and should let you focus on creating and not logistics. It's so amazing the community answered the call; while stressful, getting kicked out of Delta might've been the best thing that could've happened.
I just came back to watch this again after watching the Desert Bus 2017 Loading Time, and these two are so great. Ben, you've done an amazing job behind the scenes editing. Keep up the great work, man!
Man... I started following you guys in the earlier part of last year, so Moonbase Delta was the first Moonbase I ever got to know and love. This is my first time following along on this journey. Oh geez, and you had the big moving day on my birthday, too. Superficial emotional connections, go!
I have too many good things to say about this to not sounds ridiculous, so I will try to be brief. Thank you, thank you providing countless hours of entertainment and allowing us these windows that let us be a part of your lives. We greatly appreciate it and look forward to many years with you in Moonbase Mk. 5.
Holy shit, that new Moonbase is absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad that you all found a new place and were able to set it up to your needs. I look forward to so much more amazing content, including what we all have already seen from this new studio!
wow. man this looks amazing. im so happy i was able to contribute for this! its weird to see how much everything has changed since i found ya'll at the of 2013. it makes me so happy and im glad ya'll are happy! i cant wait to see how all this works for ya'll!!! now to catch a Live. :D
After rewatching this, when Paul is describing Studio C's new accoutrements I was confused as the word, 'skookum,' which I orignal misheard as scoogum. Now after some needed research, I have learned it is jargon for monstrous, rad, strong, cool. Just in case anyone needed the know.
Fantastic job guys! We can see all the hard work that you've put in and it shows in your fabulous new space. Can't wait for what the future brings. Keep up the great work 👍
So cool to see how much you've put into the new Moonbase. It looks amazing and I look forward to being entertained for many more years by your content from it :D
I've been watching since almost the beginning... you guys have (deservedly) come so far. I hope you keep doing this as long as you can... and that one day I can finally afford to volunteer for DB a year. You're all amazing.
Everything about this is just awesome. I'm so glad you guys got a fantastic space you really like and I'm super excited about all the cool new setups and equipment there is to play with! Y'all deserve every single bit of it. (Well, maybe not the boatload.) And thanks for everything you do!
I have been waiting for this! It might be weird but I love seeing the behind the scenes, the layouts, and the logistics involved in operations like yours. I look forward to seeing all the new spaces in action! And I hope that you manage to keep it clean and tidy for a . . . oh, it's already messy? Okay, forget that last part.
Man, I got so many good feels from this one. I'm excited for the future of LRR. All the sets have been looking great so far! Here's to more good content from good people.
I am getting so overwhelmed just by looking at this, I am almost in tears. Having to move and build walls and everything so fast and with so much stuff...I'd have been acting like a right bitch from the stress and then ended up in a corner crying and being in the way, heh... I am amazed at how well it looks like you're all taking it. Thank you for sharing! May the new moonbase last forever!
Everything looks awesome! I'm So happy to see the results of the successful move and how far you've come since even just MK 3. I wanted to let you know that you deserve every bit of the success you've made for yourselves and I can't wait to see your continued endeavors! Side note: I just got a new keyboard and it's the same as the studio C keyboard! Glad I made the right choice :D
That looked like it was a heap of work, but wow did it pay off. Looks soooo nice. Gonna love all the amazing content getting beamed into my eyes from that place :D
In three weeks I'll be embarking on my twelfth house move in ~15 years, and the fourth move in the last 4 years. Only once has this been on my own terms (that being the current move). I've grown to despise the whole process from start to finish, and nowhere _quite_ feels like home anymore. You'd think after all this time I'd've learned a thing or two about how to make it go smoothly, but... there's always _something_ . And yet... I keep coming back to these moving videos. This one in particular. I'm not 100% sure why... maybe it's cathartic seeing things go so smoothly (I'm sure there was plenty of panicking off-camera but it sure doesn't come across to me here). Maybe it's the moment at the end where you've got this long-term lease that gives me hope. I don't know. What I know is that this won't be _my_ last move. The one big downside will probably force me to move again in about a year... maybe two, if I'm lucky. Maybe someday I'll be in a stable position... not for a few years yet, but maybe someday. It's a rough world out there... but LRR and the many other creators I follow make it all bearable. You all make it possible for me to hold onto hope that I might one day escape my circumstances, despite the odds. I want to thank you for that.
This is awesome to see. It is such a shame you had to move again so soon and under such pressure but this honestly looks to be for the better 1000% times over. I look forward to all the amazing content Mk5 will help bring over the next 5 (or 10) years!
Great to see the new place being set up. :3 Wish we could have heard more of the viewing and discussion about it at the beginning. I look forward to the next five years of content!
Congratulations - the new Moonba5e looks amazing! I definitely feel like my small contribution went to something very special. I shall now claim one of those Ikea cubes as "brought to you by princesskyrie." (Doesn't matter which one, maybe one of the light blue ones.) And great work by Ben on the editing!
I am about to move to Japan this Saturday, beyond nervous and emotional...but these videos have helped calm me down alot. Excited to send you stuff for mail time!
Hey! I used to work in a performing arts theatre in high school! Our lights weren't controlled by DMX, but we had full dimmer control over them. Our board ran DMX out to a DMX controller power grid that would convert the requested signal to standard AC current and pass it down to the corresponding power outlet for each light we had installed. :D Of course, this was before the advent of LED lights of this nature. :P
First of all AHHHHH feels at the ending Second of all double aahhhhh that stinger 👌👌👌👌 And just generally I'm so excited for you guys to be in this space, and especially not to be stressed out about moving anytime soon. You deserve it, and I think it's safe to say all us runners are proud and over the moon to contribute. You provide and promote so much good in this world. Thank you. 💖💖💖
Graham, easy answer to the tshirt question - EBAY. I think you guys did something similar for Desert bus last year? Just make sure you tweet and put up a video when they are available. This way you can have a min bid but doesn't have to be a set price, it will clear up your old inventory and it will keep stock count for you so long as your original post has the correct stock listed.
I had to move myself one time and had the same reaction while seeing this video, Depression while taking out all of the things from the old place, and happiness while putting everything in the new place and sorting it and organizing it
That visit to EB Games pretty much perfectly describes the shop (alongside GameStop). Go in when most people are running the place, you'll get lowballed and ripped off like there's no tomorrow so they can maximize their profit without just grabbing the games from you without giving you a cent and telling you to get out. But if the person at the counter is a fellow gamer, they'll give you fair deals (albeit still ones that benefit the store but that's no shocker) and be honest with you because they've been in your situation before.
RLYoshi I hate to say it, but the folks at Gamestop and EB have no leeway on what they can or cannot give you for your games and other devices. I worked for Gamestop for about 6 years and I was never allowed to budge what we gave for games.
dang that shot at Midnight where Graham was talking about getting the final paperwork done he just looked/sounded so exhausted, can't imagine how stressful this whole process was with everything else doing on
