Learn how to load, unload and hook up the low profile Demco KarKaddy X Tow Dolly with this informative instructional video!
---------------------
Do you wonder how you’re going to safely and smoothly tow a vehicle behind your RV that has a lower clearance? Do you cringe every time you hit a bump with your existing tow dolly? Demco Products has your solution with the KarKaddy X. Its load angle is reduced by 4 degrees and it’s wider so you can take that lower-riding, wider vehicle with you on your next trip.
---------------------
The KarKaddy X is lower and wider to fit low profile, wider vehicles. Designed for lower clearance. The KarKaddy X has hydraulic surge brakes, sealed hubs, a 5th wheel design swivel platform, and a black powder coat paint finish with hot dipped galvanized components. The KarKaddy X also has a towed vehicle tread width 42” minimum, 78” maximum as well as a load angle reduced by 4º to fit more low profile vehicles. The Karkaddy X also comes standard with a Demco brake actuator and EZ Latch Coupler.

do a video on vehicle weight restrictions when using a tow dolly. Example, tow dolly rated at 5,000 pounds with 750 pounds tongue weight. A Chevy Traverse or compatible size vehicle hits the scale around 4,600 pounds which leaves a margin of 400 pounds. Since the dolly is carrying approximately 2/3 of the vehicle weight, motor, trans etc., what is the safety factor or any concerns. The usually weight ratio from front to rear is divided as 60/40 as a general rule for front wheel drive vehicles. I would love to see a clear video on this topic because there isn't any clarity on this topic, not even from dealerships or towing companies such as U-haul. Now with that said, a gas motor coach is usually rated at 5,000 maximum towing capacity and a diesel motor coach can tow considerable more, theoretically speaking. Of course the hitch type can be a limit as well. What is your take on this? Me, just curious. (I flat tow)

We can't speak for all tow dollies, but we will speak to Demco’s Kar Kaddy Tow Dollies. Demco Kar Kaddy’s have a max tow capacity of 4,800 pounds. Our tongue weight is only approximately 100 pounds. We center the front axle of the towed vehicle directly over the tow dolly axle to handle the weight of the towed vehicle. The Kar Kaddy has a 3,500 pound axle weight rating. Depending on dolly model, they weigh approximately 675 - 700 pounds empty. (3,500 Axle Capacity - 700 pounds empty = 2,800 pounds of carrying capacity on the tow dolly.) The user of the dolly has to keep both the max tow capacity and the 3,500 pound axle weight capacity in mind. You are correct, the general rule is 60/40 for front wheel drive vehicles. 60% of the weight is on the front axle. If your vehicle is at the max weight capacity 4,800 pounds, using the 60/40 rule, we could potentially be right at the tow dolly axle weight limit. 4,800 x .60 = 2,880 pounds - keep in mind we do have about 100 pounds of tongue weight. If the vehicle has a heavier front/rear axle split than the 60/40 rule of thumb, a user could overload that axle of the tow dolly. The above figures are the Demco Kar Kaddy limitations. The user also has to review the coach limitations as well. If the coach limitations are less than the dolly capacity, then the user is limited to the coach towing capacity. We hope that clears things up.

Bought a Kar caddy ss . Put it together however the black housing around the tail lights is so loose even with the light snapped into position they fall out during transport. This can’t be normal.

The rubber grommet and taillight are not proper seated in the housing if the customer is stating it is loose and falling out. Could you let us know your email address? We have a flyer that will help you with some tips on this.

I see this is the KarKaddy X is for lower profile vehicles, but it doesn't fold up like the KarKaddy SS. I need the folding capabilities of the SS, but I have a Toyota Prius, will the SS work for me?

Has anyone used this to haul a new C8 Chevrolet corvette?
@DemcoProducts
@DemcoProducts Год назад
Demco does not recommend dolly or dinghy towing the new Chevrolet Corvette C8. Please reference the “Recreational Vehicle Towing” section of your vehicle’s owner’s manual. It will state: CAUTION Dolly Towing or dinghy towing the vehicle may cause damage because of reduced ground clearance. Always put the vehicle on a flatbed truck or trailer. We hope that helps answer your question.
