Honestly, have LRR try and host a lot of tourney casting is a space wide open rn. There aren’t any massive high quality tourney castings happening on YT or Twitch that I know of. GO GO GO LRR Be the heroes we need not the ones we deserve!
@IncredulousPasserby
@IncredulousPasserby Год назад
They definitely have higher quality than some (not all) of the WotC streams. IDK if LRR would be good in the wider casting space but it’s refreshing as is.

Literally some of the highest quality production for M:tG ever. I hope it was worth it for LRR so they can justify making this a more regular thing. Also, and maybe this is already a common take, but it seems like Triomes have done more to warp the format than any other card cycle from the last five years.

During the conversation about Firedrinker Satyr making the cut vs Jackal Pup, it is still insane to me that in RDW, essentially a list of the best red one mana spells of all time, you get to play all stars like Ragavan and Goblin Guide but you're so hard-pressed for even mediocre impressions of them that a 2/1 with downside still makes the cut in 2023.

Absolutely superb coverage. Appreciate that hosting it in a dedicated studio setup makes it easier than some other coverage, but it's an absolute treat to get Serious And Powerful Magic presented at this quality. One minor innovation you might want to borrow from the recent Pro Tour: they had competitors place a dice by their decks for the first few turns to indicate the number of mulligans they'd taken prior to starting each game.

Observation after first rounds (so, spoilers!): Black appears weak in this format as it was only in two decks and did not move on. Low samples size. Is this generally true in Canadian Highlander?
@nevinb2720
@nevinb2720 Год назад
I'd say the reason there wasn't a lot of black in this tournament was because of how many tempo/midrange decks there were. Black's pointed cards are mostly tutors which is more helpful for combo decks, hence Thoracle and Seeker Walk both running it. The charity tournament from a few months ago has a greater sample size of decks if you want to check that out, the vod is on Ben's channel. In that tournament I remember there being a few more black decks and there was even a green black The Rock list, so pretty cool.
