Did Dollarama get $12 million for refrigerators from the Trudeau government, like Loblaws did? 🙃
@stevesmodelbuilds5473
@stevesmodelbuilds5473 8 месяцев назад
No, but they get other government grants, preferred-rate loans and tax credits. Besides, they don't have refrigerators. And $12 million is didley-squat -- I'm sure the feds get at least triple that back in carbon taxes from the energy to run them. Did they pay out more than $14 million to Canadian investors in 2022? 🤨 No, they didn't. You sure grandly 'mufft' it there, werkin 🙄.

Food Prices and cost of living won't really go down until home prices go down significantly. All consumer staple prices have been impacted by HIGH Home Prices in Canada. Canada is entering an unprecedented DEADLY "Inflation/Debt Spiral" with no end anytime soon. The September party didn't last long, the next rate hike will be in October following another hike in December just before the new year. The rate hikes will continue through 2024, 2025, 2026, and possibly beyond. By 2026 highly likely the rates will be hovering around 8.5% to 10% or even higher with no glimmer of hope of rate cuts any time soon if not for a decade or more. YES, we Canadians are addicted to RECORD LOW interest rates and CHEAP Money with unlimited supplies of money, but NO MORE and we just have to get used to the New Normals ( Higher Inflation, Higher Rates, and Higher food/goods/service prices), as a direct result of 2 decades of Bank of Canada's Inflationary Monetary Policies (creating Asset and Debt Bubbles) which have run the country into the Debt ground and into a "Debt Spiral" without acknowledging it.
@rhaimusg5785

Not defending the grocery stores as everyone knows they are jacking the prices up. But they do have a much larger overhead that would justify some of the difference (not near what they are charging for most things). That and dollar stores in general have always been very low margin on very high volume.
@Canadian_Skeptic
@Canadian_Skeptic 8 месяцев назад
A higher overhead because of a much larger space? That space is used to store the items they purchase in bulk, which greatly reduces costs for them. Additionally, large stores have more customers because they don't want to travel to multiple destinations to get everything. Convenience over cost. They are just price gouging. It helps pay for ridiculous salary hikes for their CEOs.
@rhaimusg5785
@rhaimusg5785 8 месяцев назад
Staffing, insurance premiums, upkeep on much larger buildings. Like I said I'm not defending them. Just saying that a small amount of the price differences can be justified. But I absolutely agree that there is insane gouging going on right now. The even worst part of it is for any publicly traded company this will continue. If you aren't increasing the profit on a regular basis you may not be the CEO of a company much longer. @@Canadian_Skeptic
