I’m proud of myself for being consistent with my loc maintenance almost a year into my journey. I recently have allowed someone else to maintain my hair, but I can definitely do without the assistance of a stylist if needed.

Locktitions don’t get enough credit for the work they do. I’m on my second set & can say Extensions are not the way growing your own going through the growth process is literally that there is no easy way to locks. Either you gonna go through the trials or go the easy route. Times get tough and during the pandemic I am sure a lot of people's hair suffered. Thankfully I have been maintaining this set of locs since year 1 due to me not having money so I had to learn. I miss going to get my hair done. You did a wonderful job!

You did gorgeous on repairing her dreadlocks. She looks nice with the makeover you've done for her which was adding the loc extensions for the dreadlocks that broken off.

I went with your method with the wash after you install to double check your work! I recently did a full head install and when I washed the hair after the install I was able to take care of the Locs that were in there tight enough so later down the line none would fall out! Thanks

A lot of people here aren’t very self-sufficient. I have never gone to a salon not once in my dread journey and on top of it I only wash my hair every few months. I also live in a very dry place (Arizona). I watched videos on videos to learn how to maintain locs myself and have never gone through as much dependency as the people in the comments have. At some point you gotta understand how much money you’re spending doing this.

I love doing repairs! Especially when I can also educate my clients.

I love how reattaching Locks is available. Not many know how to. I also love the styles some guys can get with short fro hair. Now stylist can use a Lock/Twist look combined with low cut/Taper. Not real Locks but still looks amazing and gives more hair on top of head; and is the next level needed over fro. With the longer hair styles for Locks; 2 strands Twist style is awesome. My only complaint is the scalp/parts are visible. Kind of take away the wholesome look, hopefully Stylist find a way to hide scalp/parts to make the head look more full.

Unpopular opinion: If you don't have the access to a loctician or don't have enough money for loc maintenance, you do the maintenance by yourself. You don't just let your hair get bad like that. I get if you were depressed but if your mentally well having no access to a loctician is no excuse.

I live that she added just a little bit of hair to that first loc she was doin a lot of loctitians will just leave it uneven

Hey so I have a question, I wanted to get some advice on how often a person should wash their loc extension? I get nervous to wash them on my own. Also with moisturizing I have been using a misting water bottle with water and glycerin and then I use an oil, is that enough?….I live in Louisiana. I have been trying to keep it simple to not have a lot of build up. Any advice would help, thanks in advance

Hello. My hair is so similar to this. Breaking close to the root due to dryness.. when I tell you I use everything and have tried every product to keep my hair moisturized and nothing work. Can you recommend some products to try? I really don’t want to give up on my loc journey.

Those locs are so much work, the biggest mistake is the loc extensions are not mant to stay in your locs for long, they are just supposed to make u look like you have mature locs until your locs grow and then you get them out or cut them off. But many people remain with them and then they grow and get heavier than the actual hair causing it to break at the roots and so you have to go to the saloon almost every 2months at the slightest growth which makes you look clean but weakens the natural hair making having locs stressful. Its advisable to always avoid extensions while starting a long term loc journey

At that point she should’ve just locked with her natural hair. She has naturally thick hair and all that time the extensions broke her natural hair off, if she didn’t have the added hair her locs would have a good length.
