Here's the funny thing, this is how I've been retwiating my locs all along. I never felt comfortable palm rolling my hair or anyone else's. The loc smything method felt easier and more comfortable to me. I didn't even know it was a thing. WOW!!!! Thanks for educating me on the proper term.
Exactly, Ive mine for 7 years and did this since ever, never did a palm roll, i call it finger roll, funniest thing is some people back 7 years ago was saying not do ever do it lol thanks the gods Ive an open mind and could see thru, that it actually gives u more of an accuracy when doing it imo
Wow. I’m shocked this isn’t a normal technique used. I did my teenage sons locs for the first time the other day. I wanted to help him save money. Going to a salon is expensive. I figured how hard could it be. Palm rolling was hurting my hands and wasn’t giving me the results I wanted, so I actually started doing this technique unbeknownst to me that it’s a special technique. It’s something I thought I made up just to get the job done 😂 His hair looked so good once I finished. It actually looked better and much more neat than when he’s gone to the shop.
Thank you! I started thinking my only option as a microloc besides interlocking was knotting. I’m so glad to know that I have another option in my forever journey. You have been such a great teacher to all of us and I want to say THANK YOU so much for sharing your knowledge!! 🎉🎉🙏🏽🕊️
This is how I locked my son's hair and didn't even know what palm rolling was at the time. His locks are neat and organized. They're not frizzy or loose even though I did them while he was sleeping (he was 1.5 years old when I started them)
I started doing this to my locs . Because i was looking for something to make them look less frizzy. I didn't even know there was a name or history. Well I'm going to chalk it up to the ancestors guidance
I do this on my 5 yr old but I didn’t know it had a name. I’ve tried the palm rolling and it was not my cup of tea, I couldn’t get it down for nothing. So I’ve been doing “Loc Smything for 2 years”. Wonderful to see it has a name.
I do a little bit of both and I have to say it does make a difference. Sometimes I forget so I'll start off palm rolling and then end by loc smything lol
I really appreciate this video because I have Sisterlocks and I have had to join several of them together to keep them from breaking which makes it difficult to interlock them. Thanks so much! I'll look for the tutorial.
I have a hard time palm rolling on my own locks, especially in the back, its even harder. Locksmithing, I totally don't understand. Though I enjoyed the history of its invention and the woman who started it.
I totally understand Brenda, it is very weird how the hand placement works for both methods particularly on your own head. How do you groom your locs? Do you use a specific method?
😲 OMG! I tried it on myself when I first saw it the regular way nd thought my fingers chose to just shut down on me along with cramping😬 I just tried this way, nd soooo much better! My loc is actually smoother this time!! 😁 yaaaay, nd ty so much for this information
I actually had my locs done at the salon where Ona Osario Maat brought the Loc Smyth method to the Brooklyn community. I get tons of compliments on my locs. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to do a video🤭Happy Locing!🧜🏾♀️💜
I asked my stylist if she could try locsmything on my hair, she had no clue to what I was talking about. LOL When I finally gave it a try I was surprised with the outcome.
@@thedigitalloctician I noticed when people locsmyth they always do it with their left hand. Can you do this with the right hand? Do you have a tutorial on how to do this
Wow did not even know what it was called and been doing it on my starter locs my hands automatically do that I stead of palm rolling. 😆 next year ima be a beast.
Thank you for this valuable info. I’ve def tried it on myself and man my fingers were tired 😂😂I have search for a video on how you achieved you hair color. I know you didn’t use bleach but I was wondering if you have. A video or have done a video on it. Love all your videos 💙
What confirmation! I always felt palm rolling was going to thin me out. Interlocking didn't help either. One day I just started rolling from the bottom up and my hair sang!
one question cause I'm completely new and ignorant to this, do you do this dry handed or do apply and type of product to your hands before loc smithing?
I've seen this technique alot on social. Can you make a video on how to do on yourself and someone else. I My daughter and I both have issue with thinning all g our hair lines and have lost locs due to it. I don't twist my hair often Wondering if this could this technique could help with providing me to go longer between retwist and have a neat hairline.
Follow yannie the locologist- locs are not about neatness- retwist should be twice a year or you will have thinning- hair on average grows 6 inches a year so why the manipulation so often - she explains why the thinning- " leave the hair alone stop the manipulation and you stop the thinning - with continued thinning new growth you will have no loc
I just got my second retwist after having starter locs for about 3-4 months. But this time she palm rolled them and now they look a lot thinner. Will that make them stay skinny or if i tell her not to do it anymore will they still thicken up over time?
Is this a Playlist case u didn't actually teach any loc smithing in the video lol this is like the 3 video I've watched of urs and the titles are click baits lol loc smithing 101 .... nothing but the creator was mentioned 🤔
