We Kurds have a saying “we have no friends but the mountains” this is because Kurds have always been under attack their whole existence with no allies to protect them but the mountains to hide and resist since it is located in between four countries which have always wanted to conquer it. The big Kurdistan, meaning the combination of parts of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, is vastly mountainous.

Thank you for such an interesting vlog. What a beautiful area! Everyone is so kind and generous. The world is filled with kindness and compassion but we don't always (if ever) see it on our tv screens. I wish you could share your travels on some of the well known tv stations; the world needs to see these areas through your eyes . Jason, your channel is one of my favourite sites for "travelling" - you're such a respectful person in all of your presentations, always allowing local people explain their customs and culture. This area is a bit of a surprise to me, such dramatic mountain shapes - it must be a terrifying place to be during strong earthquakes. A lot of the barren hills remind me of the place I'm living now, in the Patagonian semi desert, although the climate is obviously different. Thanks again for showing a few moments of Kurdish life to the world.

Di sala 2019-an de destûr ji min re hat dayîn ku ez vê dîmena zozanên mezin bibînim û di heman demê de şemalê jî bibînim. Ez ê tu carî vê yekê ji bîr nekim. I was allowed to have this view of the huge canyons in 2019 and also see the waterfall. I will never forget that.

Hello, dear, welcome in Iraq and in Kurdistan region, I just want to make it clear that these lands and regions were originally under great Mesopotamian jurisdiction, but now the territories have been divided and a portion given to Iran and Turkey and the region has been divided into many states, but it's Assyrian and Kurdish areas in the northern part, they're not really the borders of Iran, they're modern artificial borders.

Lol no I'm a kurd from Iran and Iranian kurdistan was always a part of Iran, it's just that recently things haven't been good for non-shias, the other parts were divided because of the british dissolving the ottoman empire
