He's literally geared up to fish for wels catfish lol. That rod/reel/line combination is all tailor made for catching these fish. You never reel when a fish is that close lol.
Bigger than your dog?!? That fish bigger than a man, and it just swam out of a meter or less of water. That behemoth was probably waiting for a person to wade in the water…
Not common but definitely the average fully mature adult the common size is way smaller because it takes really long for these animals to grow and people hunt the bigger ones
Nah man if I saw that every time I fished I'd ACTUALLY want to go fishing. Instead of sitting there for hours without any catches learning about "patience" or something.
NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVERRRRRRRRRR GO IN!!!!!!! Stay on land where you can atleast runaway 🤣 That’s just how I think cuz I’d be scared 😱 you can’t even see what’s under
There are actually several catfish much larger; like the piraiba catfish, the wels catfish (shown here), the mekong giant catfish (the largest catfish species) etc.
I’ve fished for 37 years and in spite of all of the big fish that I’ve caught, I’m not sure I could keep my composure watching a fish of that magnitude chasing and eating a topwater bait. And your casting ability is unreal!!! Side note: is that a Wels?
@@ianjohnson1610 yea. That's a big fish, I don't know too much about fishing but I'm sure his boat could be bigger. Pulling that into a small boat could have plenty variables.
That one might be 180 lbs at most. Records in the 300's I think. Historically they were thought to hit 10 feet long and have mouths large enough to try to eat people.
I’ve come face to face with a 6’ reef shark in Maui and nothing happen i was hella scared but I still go in the ocean, lakes, ponds ect... life’s too damn short not to live it.
@@greenthumbpatriot3295 so your idea of living is risking death ? I'm perfectly content with my life not putting myself in harm's way for short term enjoyment- but hey.. to each his own
@@OnPoint88 They didn’t say to go get yourself killed. Also, you can’t risk death, death is inevitable, you can only risk life. Maybe you like living in a box, but to us who live full fledged lives, there’s no such thing as risk there’s only competency and capabilities. If I don’t have both of those, I won’t do something. Simple as that.
There are catfish that can grow to 15ft in length. The wels catfish. I personally have seen one in a French river eat a adult duck, that had a head at least 18" across. Don't know how long it was but it looked like a monster.
People from the comment section definitely never seen Jeremy Wade show River Monsters. This Wells Catfish is actually medium size compared to the sizes and lengths Catfish can reach on River Monsters.
