This brings back happy childhood memories. My mother took my sister and me to Lewis every year on her, between 1956 and 1967, to spend the summer with my grandparents in Ranish. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic! What memories - Captain Smith on the bridge, and George climbing into his crane to work the cargo. Other faces I recognise but can't put a name to - takes me back in time to a gentler age when life was lived at a slower pace.
Fantastic!... in the days when David MacBrayne Ltd had their own bus service to meet the boats. The skippers were master mariners who knew their boats and how to coax them along... no bow thruster technology in those days.
Just caught a glimpse of Captain Smith going into the Wheelhouse (Bridge) of mv Loch Seaforth leaving Mallaig. He was my 1st cousin and never missed a sailing in all his years aboard her.
@acquiesce100 This was filmed about 1965 because the small boy getting in the way of the mooring rope being tied up is around 9 (the same age as me) and we used to play football together. So, give or take a year, it's 1965.
