@@edwardmccarten9677 As child brought up in London's Clapham Park, one Saturday in May when I was 13, I heard the sound of the pipes wafting over the roofs from a mile away. It was the London Highland Gathering, taking place on Clapham Common. It was the first time that I had heard the pipes and drums live - and saw the highland dancing, and the heavy athletic events. I was already 'hooked' on Scottish tradition, history and culture, so it was a dream come true for me. Sadly, all the highland games, the 'Piping Live' festival in Glasgow, Royal Edinburgh Tattoo, etc. have been cancelled this year, but I look forward to travelling north again next year - fingers crossed !
