I had lost my key and I am 63 years old. I was worried the manager would evict me if I did not open my Master Pad lock for inspection! This video saved my life! I used the Bobby pin for the hold and the paperclip for tensions and kept working that paper clip and I was shocked! It worked. You saved me hundreds of dollars and my apartment. They'll never know the difference. I will buy a new lock. This time i will keep track of the keys! Thanks.
I have seen videos like this. I tried and tried. Perhaps I do not have the touch, it never worked for me? I know how a lock works. I know how to re-key a lock by changing tumblers. 😟
This really is just one of those fascinating skills, isn't it? The ability to defeat the thing that shouldn't be defeated yet retain the responsibility not to do that in an improper way is kinda cool in a strange way.
There are a lot of lock picking videos out there, but this video was the one that helped me open it for real!! It was not a separate lock, but the front main doorknob lock. Very helpful.
I have a Master lock similar to what you are using that is at least 50 years old. It was a lock my father used when I was a kid over forty years ago. I have the lock but not the key(s) and couldn't bring myself to toss it (sentimental). Now I'm going to try to unlock it using what I learned tonight from your video. Very good video! Thank you!
Master Lock No. 1 & 3 are very common and a good choice if you wish to get started in this skill. They do not have security pins and can be easily raked. The No. 140 would be a good padlock to graduate to afterwards. It's a 4 pin cylinder, just like the before mentioned locks, but incorporates a security pin. Raking these takes a little more skill.
I know how a lock cylinder and tumblers suppose to work. I have seen a number of these home make lock picking videos. Believe me, I tried and tried. Perhaps I do not have the touch. I give up after 15 minutes. I do have a 36" bolt cutter and a 4 1/4" angle grinder. They always work.
kw0s I've gotten fairly good at this sort of thing (I got bored at my dads office and had a couple locks on hand plus my leatherman and some paperclips)
Funny I never thought I would need Lock Picking Skills until the day I realized I had lost (misplaced?) a key. There are some expensive things behind that lock. Scary to think that they (guns) are not as safe as I thought they were. Thanks for the video. I hope it is as easy as you make it look. :-))
Alternatively, you can make the best tension wrenches from the metal strips found in old windshield wipers. I have some pick tools purchased from Sparrow, and they work great. Amazing how easily some locks open.
And you can make really good rakes and picks with old hacksaw blades and a dremel. Be careful not to overheat the metal or you'll need to re-temper it.
@@gpweaver I should've thought of the old hacksaw blade thing, I used to be a Motorcycle Mechanic and I often used bits of old hacksaw blade for various types of homebrew tool. Thank you for the tip
I tried 3 different methods today to get a lock off... tapping with a hammer...beer can....then this method.. none worked.. finally I took claws from a hammer and pried it away from the door..
Thanks a lot, the petrol station up the road where I save 10c deposit cans & bottles from reaching landfill, big industrial type of bin, after 3 months, the big boss wants to padlock them, so I can't get into them, thanks for the tip, I will practice picking padlocks at home until I have perfected it, Cheers!!!
I did this with a breadbag plastic clip, removed the plastic that surrounds the iron ''needle'' and bent it so that it has 5 teeth. Make sure the lock is oiled from the inside and start raking while turning your lever. This takes me about 15 sec and the lock is open..
Thanks for the vid, I bought an old motorcycle with no key for the helmet lock but the helmet lock when closed covers the rear shock absorber top bolt, to change the shocks I either take a big hammer to the helmet lock or try this. I'd rather try this.
Jeremy, that's some cool stuff right there! In some jurisdictions carrying lock picks is a no-no. Alternatives like that are fantastic because paper clips aren't burgler tools. You can sometimes buy lock pick sets at gunshows and flea markets or buy them online. Keep in mind though you can be arrested for having them on your person in a lot of places. What are PA laws on picks?
Nice vid. I'm getting started out now, but I'm having an easier time manipulating each pin individually. I've tried raking a few times, but not much luck.
I have this lock and i have been trying to unlock it with lockpicking but it just won't unlock, i have been trying for hours but nothing happens except some of the pins that go up, maybe because i put too much energy on the torque?
Shocked by the number of people who think all locks are as easily picked as this Master lock. Just FYI, this Master lock is widely considered the easiest picked but still widely used lock on the planet.
I've been trying to spread the word and convince people to train in "soft skills". I learned lock picking and a bunch of other stuff about a year ago because I was planning on a trip to Europe. People will use soft skills infinitely more times for self defense than pieing a corner in a gunfight....
I'm pretty sure the idea is to carry the paperclips at all times, like in your wallet, and you don't need a vice, it just makes it easier if it's a padlock.
Hey Jerry Ive always had a natural gift at opening locks that have security codes I've always found them easy to bypass just by feel as for picking a padlock/keylock that I have never done I have picked a few cupboard or kitchen cupboard locks but I've never had a specific method for padlocks/keylock anyhow I never had 2 money clips I had but 1 hair clip witch I devided into 2 plus making wosre I never had the proper tools to shape my lock picking tools but I did my best with what I had I must say I struggled a quite a bit at first but that's a good thing cause it gave me the chance to get the feeling of what needs to be done and I'm ecstatic to say that I have almost mastered the process a hour or so alone with a few locks and I think I'll be semi-pro.anyhow thanks a million for sharing the knowledge for now I'm gonna keep my little toolkit with me at all times and as soon as I've the right spares and the right tool I'm gonna make myself a real beautiful and more comfortable toolkit anyhow I like that you have not only shown how to pick the lock but you have shown how to make the tools with very little more videos in the same sought of manner would be super#maguyver
I assume the same principle is for house locks as well as deadbolts correct? The pins and cylinder are all different for each lock, but just without the piston that padlocks have? Am I thinking this correctly? I need to know if I can get into my house after school if I accidentally lose my house key and dont have to wait for my grandmother to get back from a doctors appointment hours away.
Jeremy does this apply to car trunk locks? My engine key broke but it still starts the engine. my trunk release button does not work. I cant access my trunk.
I’ve watched about 10 of these. All are on the table or in a vise. Show me a man laying on his back or half underneath a trailer hitch trying to hold the lock and do the same and I’ll believe. Thx for the info.
W respect and as a camera operator, there are solutions. I’m just saying in less ideal situations this is trickier than it looks. Having to hold the lock while it’s attached is a bitch! 👍
+Slytiger Disgruntled Veteran Channel Unless I'm wearing my tacticool 5.11 pants with ample storage space, I can't seem to fit a pair of bolt cutters into my EDC system. ;)
Turn a can of screen duster (Freon) upside down so you have it in liquid form, spray the whole lock freezing it then one good bash from a hammer is all it takes
