Wonderfull stuff from Australia, the best aircraft to come out of UK during the war due to its 'multi-role' capability. It's always been my favourite. I knew an English navigator who flew with the RCAF 418 Squadron from day one. He went to Canada to train as a nav and such was his ability he was invited to form up with 418 from day one and went back to UK with them. He ended up being if I recall their longest serving member. At the end of the war he moved to other Mosquito units, serving on them till 1950. He then emigrated to Australia in 51 with his wife an ex WAAF whom he met during the war. He in turn worked for Qantas until retirement in 1971. I met him around 7 yrs ago, he lived locally. A charming and lovely man who loved his time in the Mosquito. Sadly now he and his wife have passed on.I miss them both very much, a real gentleman with a huge passion for cricket. What that generation experienced and had to do at such a young age and if they survived, then move on with a new life is quite extraordinary. He told me stories about witnessing his mates being shot down on low-level work on Luftwaffe airfields, being so low they had little chance to climb in order to bale out...

Wonderful to see the Mossie under her own power .. fantastic effort to all involved . My grandfather made wing parts for Mosquitoes during WW2 at William Birch & Co furniture factory in High Wycombe (one of many in that down that did).. so feel very connected to these beautiful aircraft

You could tell by each stroke of the prime on the Stbd engine, gave the Merlin a bit more life. I'm glad you mentioned that Neville, I thought I was hearing a rod knock. She may not fly, but she's still ALIVE! Great vid Neville, well done to you also Neville. THANKS!

The Mossie does not get the accolades it deserves like the Spitfire does. The Mossie helped win the war

Very nice, The Wright’s flew in 1903. It boggles my mind to think how fast engine and airframe technologies evolved by wartime.

Wonderful. Visited there some years ago for my 40th birthday. Superb day out. Will have to go again to see the Mosquito!

Hi Neville. Nice to meet up and chat with you whilst we stood and videoed the Mosquito, Glenn. I only came in the venue to see the Lancaster taxi but heard the Mosquito had to be run up and taxied as they had a paying customer the following day. I had to leave via the trades men's gate

It's odd that you can't prime the Merlins from the cockpit.

I am curious to know why this Mosquito doesn’t fly. There are so few airworthy examples of this astounding design. I wonder if this aircraft could be returned to airworthiness. I have owned almost a dozen Porsche cars, and would never have done so if they never left the driveway...

Those must realy had been an impressive sight in the skye back in the 1940s. I certanly had not wanted to met one sitting in a single engine enemy aircraft... Lyckily we had not been enemies, and i had probably flown a SAAB B-17 and wawed at the allied pilot by the glass of my cockpit window if i was in the Swedish Airforce during the same period.

The engines aren't counter-rotating? I didn't know. That must be a right-handed beast. Must have been hell to catch one in a right-handed turn.
