Hi everyone, the Fiat 500 fuel cap is a bit old school and it can be a bit of a faff to lock. We have struggled, but when you know how to lock it, it's actually really easy. Hope this was useful, thanks for watching.
Thank you! I watched your video before going to fill up and this time did it straight away rather than holding up traffic for 5 minutes whilst I fiddle!
Yes it is a bit fiddly. Make sure it's unlocked before putting back in. It's easy when you've got the knack, that's presuming it's not broken. So, firstly ensure the cap is unlocked, place it in, turn it (until it clicks) and then lock it. This should work. Thanks for commenting 👍
Ha ha, it's definitely a bit fiddly and you're not on your own, a lot struggle with it. It's similar to how old petrol caps used to fit so I'm used to it. Thanks for commenting and glad my video helped 👍
I thought I’d got the knack of it just to end up doing it wrong again 😂 sometimes I get it and sometimes I don’t. Deffo needs looking into that. Thanks for your help! X
Hi try pushing down whilst turning anti clockwise, if not tried already. You could also try and get your fingers towards the outer edge while pushing down. If it doesnt work it could have broken and may need removing, if so seek professional help from a motor mechanic. Good luck and hope you manage to get it off 👍
I’ve looked everywhere for a video or article to show how a gas cap is supposed to work on a 2012 Fiat pop, but can’t find anything online. My gas cap won’t click, I think it might be damaged but again, I don’t know because I can’t find any info about it. Mine doesn’t have a key and all the videos I’ve seen just talk about the key kind. Anybody know where I can find out about keyless gas cap for fiats?
Hi does it have two v shaped lugs on the part that goes into the car and are there two gaps to fit them in on the car? I wonder if yours is an after market one that isn't designed for a fiat?
Hi thinking about it, it sounds broken. I would either take to your local fiat garage. Or, if you're in the UK, these guys at Club 500 Italia might be able to offer advice or supply you with a fuel cap fiat500spares.co.uk/ hope you find a solution, thanks for commenting 👍🏻
Fiat 500 fuel caps are notorious for becoming loose and this can cause the EML to light up. Euro Parts have an alternative cap that locks and fits well
