This place is made by God, inestimably sacred, it is without reproof.
Anton Bruckner wrote his setting of “Locus Iste,” WAB 23 in 1869, for the dedication of Votivkapelle (Votive Chapel) at the Linz Cathedral in Austria. “Locus Iste” is a Latin gradual sung for the dedication of a church. It was edited with three other well-known graduals, “Os Justi” WAB 30, “Christus Factus Est” WAB 11, and “Virga Jesse” WAB 52.
