I've been using a negative LOD Bias for years, it's a great way to compensate for blurry AA. Just make sure not to overdo it, otherwise you'll introduce a lot of shimmering.
Same. When I realized turning this on helps see distance objects better you always want it on and if the game has MFAA you want that enabled to minimize the aliasing edges in game. This will use more of your GPU but will give you better visuals to spot things.
@@alpha_5248 helps see more detail on further objects for better view distance so go into nvidia control panel and just enable LOD bias to clamp and leave it on for global profile and all games will look better at the cost of like 2-3 fps. Worth it. You don't have to follow all these steps listed in the video unless you want do the clay mode and etc...
For modern warefare 3, and Warezone "3" the clay mode and subsequent mode above it introduce horrible artifacting in ground. From flickering, to weird head tracking texture warping, unlike in Wz2, and Wz1. It's not recommended you use this, not sure if its an issue to SMAA built into the game, or what, but something in the pipeline breaks this and its more distracting than useful.
this needs to be set manually when using games with DLSS mods like RE Engine games, but I haven't found any other example where a negative bias made textures look better compared to setting "negative LOD bias" to allow.
Solid Video! Definitely one of the RU-vidrs I keep up with to make sure I have the latest & Greatest tweaks for the upper edge gaming; looking forward to the next video!
Clay LOD works perfect for the Delta Force Alpha test... makes the game run better and easy to see the enemies... Gotta try it out... plus you can see thru smoke somewhat.
There are no limits such as from -3 to +3. For example LOD Bias of +2.5625 has a hexadecimal code 0x00000029 (column to the right from the settings), LOD Bias of +3 has a hexadecimal code 0x00000030 and you can change this hexadecimal code instead of the settings (middle column which has values from -3 to +3). This way if you put 0x00000031 it will give you an LOD Bias of +3.0625. This way the 'clay value' (0x00000078) is just a very high positive LOD Bias and it is NOT the highest. I have tested this feature extensively in bf4 and there is a very slight but visible difference when using values higher than 0x00000078 (the textures become even more roblox-ish).
@@ravszee I was only testing the visuals, but I do not feel any difference in terms of performance regardless of the LOD. I have fps counter on whenever I play and in general fps are the same as default LOD, as for 0.1%, same thing, I do not notice any stutters, nor did I when I was playing with default.
@@FR33THY awesome dude. have you noticed the VRR flicker? i was digging thru some of your gsync videos and am trying to figure out the best alternative keeping gsync off because it bothers me in some games. what do you use? i think ive settled on Fast Sync + 480hz cap mostly for Fortnite performance mode, then in non-comp games, just enable the in-game VSync or frame gen which I really like. any thoughts? Edit: specs 7800X3D, RTX 4080
@@FR33THY Damn. What would you use for an alternative to tearing and stutter with low latency? Flicker on non-gsync hasnt been my experience, but I've had all G/Freesync monitors for the past 6 years. Before that I had non-gaming monitors.
for AMD go to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000\UMD LodAdj (reg_sz) for me this is level of detail this use to work 100% on cs go wich is dx9,but now on cs2 it does nothing,if you download RADEON MOD,in the software there is description about this value: "Mipmap quality setting. Ranges from -6 to 11. Lower values will cause shimmering, higher values will reduce image quality. 0 is recommended"
@@kayzen2329 that's simply incorrect, w10 has the cpu scheduler update for 12/13/14 gen also. omar, its up to you. most of us are switch to w11 now for better features.
@@FR33THY thank buddy I really appreciate your work and the work you put into ur videos keep it up I have decided to go back to W10 have followed your step by step and the PC is like brand-new 👍👍
Shame that it's detectable, and it would be nice if devs decided to deal with this in another way besides banning, but it's a pretty big risk to take if they decide to swing the ban hammer
@@FR33THY thanks Freethy I did Negative LOD at -500 on my stretched RES and It looks fricken Awesome! I just loved how the clay made it look like Battle Bit.
@@FR33THY Best thing about it all is I never have to manually put the 3d settings in ever again... when I update driver just run the LOD default script and it's all done for me!!! TOO COOL! THNX
