Absolutely beautiful. Total onions. You don't see many films these days that powerfully portray the devotion of a little girl for her father at the expense of everything else.
I watched this movie for the first time when my wife was pregnant with our daughter. She was born sixth months ago, and I'm watching this again, and I swear someone is cutting onions right next to me.
I'm not from West Virginia, nor I am from America, not even Europe. I'm in fact from a country that many Americans consider it one if their worst enemies. Iran. I've never been out of my country. Yet I cried with this scene, as a 32 yrs old man. Bravo Mackenzie.
Scenes like this doesn't care if you are friends or enemies. You have a heart, I have a heart. That is what this scene cares about. It just goes to show how people should be towards each other.
At least I'm from Europe :) Don't take it personally... Americans hate everyone who has longer history than theirs :) Anyway, politics aside, this song is beautiful and, obviosly, connects THE PEOPLE around the world. Greetings from Croatia and respet to people of Iran. Your nation and your history is bigger than you might think.
@@gjuroo Americans hate anyone with a longer history ? Based on what evidence you say that ? Do you just create some conclusion to make yourself feel good ?
As much as it is sweet that she sang her fathers favorite song that made him teared up a bit, its actually the audience. They heard a classic song sung and couldn't resist in singing along, just proves how any music can make an impact in our lives.
I love this scene so much. It's not just that she is connecting with her dad, but everyone in the audience is having their own connections to their internal thoughts that you can see on their faces as they sing the song under their breath. Beautiful because it feels real
Up until that song the mom was pretty dismissive towards the dad. The moment she saw her daughter was singing to her dad she knew she had to take it easier on him.
This scene in movie is really so heart warming, touching. A expression of love of daughter towards her father. Just awesome. Loved this scene in whole movie.
That little girl picking Country Road over Rihanna made the movie a ten in my book. I know, it doesn't mean she likes it better, she just sang it to please her daddy, but still, symbolically, it's powerful. It's picking what is kind of an unofficial US anthem, something culturally rooted, over... well, Rihanna.
Most of the comments are simply not getting it. This is not a scene eith a great emotional charge because of father-daughter relationship, but for the deep connection that’s being stablished between the song and the audience. It’s a moment of shared culture and nostalgia.
I’ll always remember the first time I watched this, I was high and my ex girlfriend seen me get teary eyed, she asked me if I was okay and I say oh fucking courses. I miss her a lot, but she moved on.
I remember the first time I watched this, was with my Ex girlfriend, who I loved and still love to this day. I joked that would be us if we had a kid. And I wish it was
Looked at the ex-wife's face, everyone else happy to sing John Denver, she the only sour face in the whole room. As a woman I can honestly say, we're going to look back at the way we've been treating men since the 80's, and we're going to regret having been on the wrong side of history.
Song sun with an innocent voice, but full of passion . And it was a thank uou for coming to her father who had let her down manyy times on previous events. And song and lyrics are a beauty, it wud evoke nostalgia , even for non WV residents. Also, the first scene between father aand daughter is nice too, where he is fixing his car and ask for a screwdriver for which she promptly asks the specific type. She being a girl, liking all frills and make up, trying to learn boys and their toys stuff so she can be close to her not so educated , broke, injuried , blue collar worker father. . And he too, has full affection for his girl child and tries his best but events and situations are a bitch to this man.
The fact of the matter is that it wasn't about winning first place for her, it was about honoring her dad, whom she'd see less of after they moved from state, if I remember right, and that's what really matters.
The point is that when she saw her dad she didnt care about winning anymore and just started singing something he likes. And she got all parents to start singing along with her song so she deserved the prize
