You ask yourself one question.... How did they succeed in a mass arrest despite not being sworn into office and so they didn't have the authority to order those arrest much less order the police. And that every one of those people submitted to the rest with barely a resistance and there wasn't a f****** gun fight. But just like schoolyard bullies when the tightest turn don't expect them to stick around when they realize they can oppress anyone and their badly out numbered. All this movie ended up proving was just how dumb they were the writers of this movie and whoever saw their writing and had the single thought pattern that this s*** was alright that people will believe this will happen. I would say the purge is responsible for this but now at least the purge got some good writing around the second movie and Beyond it still has its problems but at least it was able to make some logical sense with its world after the first movie. This one is just a little Billy's first attempt to plagiarize The Purge and thinks he deserves a pat on the hat for trying. But I wouldn't be surprised if any of these writers word of types who got participation medals for at least trying. In the past I used to think participation trophies we're at least being nice but now now is a bitter old man in my twenties I see it as the ultimate middle finger to those who receive them and it over inflates the egos of the losers who instead of trying just decide this the best they're going to get in for the ones who are insulted and said trying to be better day instead want the world to view having the participation trophy as having the gold first place Trophy and having the first place trophy be the participation trophy, it's the losers who want everyone to view them as winners but don't want to earn it. So I know it's cruel but it's better not to give anything to the kids whatsoever when they lose kind of cruel but it encourages them because back when I played Little League football for 3 years. The first two years we barely avoided hitting last place and you know we got pizza parties and an arcade. My last year when we won first place you want to know what we got. A big ass useless trophy an award ceremony and sophisticated food like pasta should like that. What does that show to the kids it shows them that losing is a lot better than winning because you get rewarded greatly when you lose and you feel like you got punished for winning.

To be fair, movies like these never have a bullet proof premise. If you'd read any scifi you would know that the premise can be unrealistic and the future societies usually depicted in scifi can be unlikely as long as the work asks interesting questions about our current society. The problem with these Thinning movies isn't the fact that the premise is too unlikely, but the fact that they never do anything interesting with it. It's a very cookie cutter dystopian world and never goes beneath the surface level. It's nothing more than its synopsis. Surface level shit.
