I cant beleive this is such an old webcam, were out here using it in 2020 for those damn zoom calls. it really does look great and I appreciate the video! I searched around a bit to find a proper video test and you did a great job!
Kind of late replying (okay, really late), but if it hasn't already been mentioned, which it probably has, I think the reason the camera's microphones sounded muffled and tinny is because Logitech uses something called RightSound with their camera mics. You can turn it off in the camera's settings, but it won't stay off. There's a way to completely remove it in your device manager, though. All you do is switch to the USB audio driver. After you do that, you can use the camera's mics without the muffled, tinny sound. I don't remember the exact process, but there's a RU-vid video that explains it somewhere.
Your review is so thorough and cover all aspects I need to know about Logitech C920 HD Pro, especially what additionals I need to buy to make my live streaming perfect. Thank you so much. You are so young yet so confident. God bless your future.
You're very well spoken... Like I dunno I analyze speech sometimes and you do a really good job at giving a thourough yet nuanced review. And its really easy to follow :) Great Video
Thank you. Your review really helped me. Actually the quality of audio (microphone) is very important for my recordings. I was about to buy this webcam today, but after hearing the sound quality sample in your review I changed my mind. Thanks again
Nobody serious about podcasting/v-casting or youtubing uses the internal webcam mic. You get a decent external mic for $50-$100 and pair the audio with the video in an editor. this is a very good webcam,
Thank you for the review! If I plug in my XLR microphone in the audio interface, while recording with this camera, can both the video and audio be recorded in the same time? Or they have to be be combined later? Please recommend a good recording program.
Nice video. I agree about the audio. I'm considering getting this and the Samsung Go mic. So, if I plug in this camera (or any camera) and I plug in another mic, will the audio automatically be recorded through the other mic, or what do I have to do?
Thanks for the review. I noticed a blue hue but I'm suspecting you've got fluorescent lights on your desk? It'd be interesting to see how the image looks out in the daylight.
I just got one and was SHOCKED to find that the focus limit is ONLY 1.3 feet!!!!! meaning if you are 1.3feet away or more you will be blurry with no way to focus... unless for my desktop needs
That's a really great review on this webcam. I am looking to get one of these. You did a great job showing the quality against the built in webcam on your mac. Thanks for the review
Nice video. Your speech is fluid with few pauses/stammers. I've heard better sounding representations of the internal mic and I'm thinking that is likely due to the acoustics of your room (no carpet, echo/hollow?) Just throwing it out there as that is what it sounds like on my end..... through krk6 rokits :)..... Having watched numerous other reviews, I'd feel safe enough to say that the audio would suffice in a pinch - doesn't matter, the resolution, autofocus, and fps are the selling points for me. Once again, kudos on a great review!
I'd say it is low standards... I'd like to test the 'audio' again. the mic may be fine (what I hear is the back wall reverberation... I'd LOVE to see how it sounds if you put a foam (like a couch seat foam or a camping foam pad you'd sleep on) behind you from the mic (the foam will absorb the sound and muffle it as opposed to the foam bouncing off the wall behind you and re-entering the microphone) Alternativly, if this is portable enough, could you bring it to outside (country, or quiet part of town. not city) and do a quick test? teh wide-open spaces will allwo sound to travel away without a hard bounce-back.
Just bought one of these. I'm hoping it records as good as the it looks in the review. I am a little concerned about the audio quality. It does sound pretty crappy on multiple reviews I've seen across RU-vid.
what mic did u use to make this video? i have to say the sound was better on the mice u was using. because i plan to work in a site where i will be broadcast live. i would like to know what mice would be best for that? and how did u fix it so that ur mice was being use and not the web cams mic?
I was simply looking for a smooth video. I have a $25 microsoft cam that's really choppy and weird. I'm hoping this camera solves that issue. Looks like it will. Thanks for the review.
Dear Justin: BRAVO., bravo, bravo very nicely done!!! You put together a very well done, well thought out professional grade product review video. Can I hire you? :). Seriously, though....that's how good I felt your presentation is. Good job on all of it. P.S. Just for the heck of it I contacted Logitech America directly. Interestingly enough the company claims that no one has ever made comments about the audio quality being lacking. My counter statement was that probably it may not matter to some people. Others may just be OK with living with the 'tin / hollow' quality of the sound.
REQUEST: When testing the camera, could you take something straight (a ruler for example) and put it parallel to the camera (up/down) and then slowly twist it to an angle (I want to see how pixelated the lines on an angle appear (are they smooth transition or are there obvious block-like squares to make the angle of the ruler). Also does this Zoom feature do Macro Focus (back focus) this is like holding the back of your hand close to the lens. Will it focus to show the pores of your skin quality? I know this camera has A.F. (auto focus) but is it lock-able? Meaning once it is focused, can you LOCK focus so if you wave your hand in front, will it will keep focus on your face instead of jumping to your hand (causing a blur to your hand and a blur back to your face)? What is the distance of capture? (how far back can you go before the camera looses you/focus? (and is tehre a white balance where you can set the color of white (think: indoor incandescent lights are a slight red hue and outside is a slight blue hue. Camera can calculate "white" depending on if it compensates for indoor/outdoor lighting) (Sorry, lots of questions. these are some standard tests I do on cameras to test quality).
It seems logitech is divorced from carl zeiss these days. The cameras for sale on amazon don't have carl zeiss printed on them nor is there mention of carl zeiss in the descriptions
Hi Justin, all right ......it looks ok but the audio quality it an issue for me too.....don't like the mics on the side of the camera. All i want is to insert line out from my keyboard ....any idea how can i do that for better audio ??
It sounded really bad. There was no high end at all. It was muffled. You might need better headphones to tell the difference. His normal recorded voice is crisp, and it is even crisp from his Macbook mic.
I don't think you're crazy, or have low standards. The camera's microphone is not top notch, like the microphone he is using for the first part of the video but I don't think the built-in is that bad. I didn't like the audio from the laptop at all, much more tinny and noisy. Even his own microphone sounds like it's positioned differently as well.
Can we extend the USB with a 20-25 feet USB extension cord. Wanted to use this (with my windows laptop) while driving with my children in the back seat ?
Been looking on this particular model and the newer c930e, and I seriously cannot understand the difference. Some say there are no difference and others say there's been a lot of improvements. I don't really care for the price difference but I do care about quality and if I pay more I should get a better camera. Know anything about the c930e and got any suggestions?
Nice review, thanks. I''ve just been forced to upgrade to win 10, and my polycom cs100 won't work now, and, I don't think my old logitech camera wants to work either in win 10. There are just so many choices. Plus, I have a shure M51 mic, which is what I really ought to use. decisions, decisions, and just way too much technology to chose from!
is there a way to use this as a video cam at home and view on a app while you away from home? Or if you know of a webcam to set up in home to view on a app while your away from home?
thanks for this review, it has brought me to deffinetly choose this camera over the Microsft HD 1080p studio cam im willing to pay the 70 bucks on amazon for something worth the penny so again thanks alot for this great review :)
Could you recommend a webcam under $100 that is good for both video and audio? I need it for my kid to learn english through skype. I will be using it on ubuntu.
Do you have any recommendation for a PC microphone that isn't a stand? Like I want a microphone that isn't in front of my face that just sits near my monitor but still clearly picks up my voice.
***** Yeah ik bro like is isn't right in my face but i feel as if the quality isn't as good when it is far away, honestley mate what you are looking for will probs have to be a really expensive Rode Mic or something :D
Bought one of these, as per this review, the video is fine but the audio is very disappointing (considering it's all "sterio" with two mics) -- thinking of taking it back for that...
I've been using the C170 for my video's and i am looking for a 1080p one to get the best quality. Thanks for this video as it does help on whether or not ill get one :D
So I installed it and I wish there was a hotkey for recording. I do lets plays so I want to synch my webcam video with my game. I use fraps and I have a hot key for capturing. Is there a way I can have a hot key that will record and capture gameplay at the same time?
I got fraps, I would just like to know if there's a way to press a button that records my face and the game at the same time. Ex. I press /, fraps starts recording and my facecam starts recording at the same time.
I just bought this Webcam and I haven't been able to use it. we tried everything and the icon pops up that it's connected but it doesn't give an option to open and use it. I did try without internet could that be it? do I need Wi-Fi to use?? please help
