How does the new Logitech C922 Pro Stream webcam compare to the venerable C920? kit.com/EEVblog/youtube-video... Forum: www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/log...
We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. ru-vid.comUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.
Is there any software conflicts when using the C922 and C920 at the same time on windows? I've tried to use 2 C920s at the same time in the past and the biggest problem with that is that you can only manually control 1 of the cameras.
Loved your video, especially the “sorry about that”,made m3 laugh, but really really thorough review and really helpful,Subbed because of it,Thank you for such a great video
This video is pretty handy. Thank you for this. I am looking for a camera to buy for my gaming livestreams, because people ask when I buy a camera. So I'm orientating on it, and these two are certainly on my list. It's a good video to compare both of them. Keep 'em coming ;)
Thanks for doing this Dave, very much appreciated! I'm in a pickle and in need of another webcam today, glad I found your video! I've had a C920 about a year ago, when the C922 was already available. I took a gamble on the much cheaper C920 and put it through the ringer on two PCs and two Macs, as a simpler replacement for my GoPro that I use for screencasts. I was so disappointed with what the C920 could deliver (with Camtasia that is). In the end I sent it back. Perhaps I'll try the C922 this time :-) I hear the included software is different too?
The main issue I have with the c920 and the c922 is logitech decided to essentially turn a firmware update into a new product by adding a few cosmetic changes to the outer casing Outside of that it is essentially a c920 with updated firmware.
sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Beau Israel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I really appreciated you taking the time to provide this video. I have been going back-and-forth on my decision 920 or 922! Your (far better than other videos) was the in-depth analysis that has helped me make my decision. Keep up the great video lessons. I am a subscriber, now, giving you a thumb up and will check your recommendations in the future. I see you are completely transparent - no bias because you own one or the other. Matt
So which one did you choose? I actually bought the C922 and sent it back - in the end, I went for the C920 instead. It's £25 cheaper here in the UK, too.
Hi Dave, Your camera image is SO MUCH cleaner that my new c922 is giving me. I'm wondering a couple of things: 1. Can this be adjusted? 2. What software do you recommend using with this camera for web conferencing? Thanks!
ok my question is how do these 2 cameras work on laptops and or pads??... I ask because it seems like the image is pretty good and they may be able to work on such options making them portatil/mobile recording unit...
c922 is slightly faster it seems. c920 seems to have a slight lag u can see when u speak and move. audio sounds the same. focus c922 seems better. but for vloggers i think either would work. focusing c922 seems better.
Will the software (any) allow you to setup manual focus distances? ie. could you setup a button to be focused at 2', 3', 4', etc. thus allowing you to quickly change between a close up board view and a larger desk view? Dealing with auto focus can be a real pain when you are switching back and forth between the same distances. I have to 920.
I have a Logitech C925e which is an enterprise level of this same webcam. It works very well in low light environments, has two microphones and also has a wide angle lens.
Thank you for a great video. I have been using the C920 for 10 years and I love it. I personally hate using the auto focus because it drives me nuts to see it focusing in and out. So I always turn that feature off. But my camera is starting to have some issues with freezing during recordings, so I am looking at replacing it. But from what I saw in this video, I think I'll stick with the C920. It has worked for me all these years and will be less expensive than the 922. 🙂
Great Review. Best of the ones I've seen. The C922 wins hands down. You are right the 922 has better focus in the background and quicker focus plus better white balance. Thanks. For me its the 922.
Thanks for the nice comparison. Would it be better to use a blue yetti microphone with the c922 for better quality used for teaching? Even though the built in microphone for C922 sounds great, should I opt for better quality on the sound? Thanks
The 922 seems to have a bit better focus on the items in the background - I looked at the vertical black stripes on the Lego Saturn V, and on the 922, those seemed to be better in focus than on the 920. So I think you are correct that the 922 has a larger depth of focus area. Plus, it seemed to focus faster when you held up the board. Sound was equal (but I guess you use a separate mic anyway). So I guess slight + to the 922.
I got C920 and i run on a small problem, when i use continuity buzzer in close shots, microfon of the camera thinks it is unwanted noise and filter it out after a second
Nice vid, but I wish you wouldve shown them side by side with the 922 on 720p 60fps for a bit since that seems to me to be the only real noticeable difference between the two and I'd have liked to see if that option made the 922 worth the extra money.
Subtle stuff, but it's definitely an improvement. Seems to have better autofocus, wider depth of field, and... Is Dynamic range the right word? The sound absorption panels behind you show more detail in darker areas on the C922 than on the C920 where some of the darker areas lose so much detail you can't see the ridges anymore... Definitely not a major difference at a glance, but when you look at the details it's a notable improvement.
How come you don't have grainy kinda feed, mine is a little grainy(c922). Like I don't have any natural light coming into my room, just a bunch of bright enough LED's, what do you think is the problem? Should I try getting some natural light, I keep the windows closed, maybe opening them might help, would it? Do you have any natural light in this comparison video?
Personally I prefer the c922. The image looks a bit better, it's not a night and day difference but still. More importantly I think the better auto focus is a big win.
Most consistent difference between the two is the better handling of shadows of Dave's face by the 922. The close focus reaction speed was also better. Everything else was too close to really differentiate.
I have two of those 920s, that i got from work :D i have no idea what my company want me to use them for, but one ended up on my octoprint server and one on my desktop computer :D
c920 has more distortion around the edges which is typical of very small wide angle lenses c922 obviously has better firmware to control auto-focusing with a slightly better lens. Mics are most likely the same.
I think the apparent depth of field and blurring was just down to the slight differences in where the focus happened to be at that point. You'd need to lock them off to do a comparison. To me they seem essentially identical cameras, even down to the optics. But the autofocus is hugely better on the 922. Slightly less room "boom" on the 922's audio.
Hmm, I have conflicting feelings about the sound. Webcam mics have somewhat muffled sound but at the same time low frequencies sound a bit better. The external mic picks upper and mid frequencies better but seems to cut off lower end completely. Ok, maybe that Samson mic is tuned specifically for human voice range.
If you look at your eyes, the C920 is actually a tad sharper there. Weirdly, for the C920 the cans in the bottom left corner are softer than on the C922, but the chart in the bottom right corner is sharper on the C920 than the C922. The chart just to the left of your neck is sharper on the C920 as well. So let's say, the background on the left side is sharper on the C922, but on the right side it's sharper on the C920. Weird that it's so inconsistent. Maybe tiny misalignments in the optics or... the C920 has just more sharpening applied to t by default. Who knows. Audio is basically the same.
The C922 has way better autofocus, and it reacts to lighting better too. The C920 seems to have issues with white balance, and blowing out more than the C922.
i try 5 software how can do so much quality. my c920 as not this quality and it's new. What codec and sofware you use to optain so much beautiful quality
@@Vezzoll It was actually a purchase request from my employer, but it is a solid web cam. However a take away is that some times you have to manually adjust the focus and exposure. This is likely because I do not have the best lighting for recording.
Focus of your face (look at hair) is sharper in the C920. Also prefer its colour balance. However C922 faster to focus on change. Overall when shown individually both looked good.
I'm asking this question too... We have fekin budget smartphones that have amazing cameras but we have to play ~100€ (at least in my country) for JUST A WEBCAM. Like WTF.
Honestly without this video, I purchased the C922 with no knowledge of what it compares to. Watching this now before I receive the camera is extremely comforting, and I really appreciate it.
How are you able to record your two cameras in the same time ? What is your app or tricks ... Please ? I will really appreciate to see that in an other video .. Thanks !
the c922 seems to handle brightness better. the picture looks... nicer for lack of technical term. but without the comparison to the c920 you wouldn't notice. I think I like the mic on the c920 better, though
The C922 certainly seems improved over the 920. Bit surprised that Logitech as a market leader has not pushed on to USB3 which would allow 1080 at 60Hz (or much higher refresh rates than that). I know their higher end 4k web cam is available but it seems a bit poor to only have the one option. Also, they state on their website that there is a tie up with XSplit - so the better driver support in app. seems to be the result.
The C920 is a touch sharper on your face - wrinkles look sharper lol -and the sound on the C922 sounded a bit muffled at first - seamed to get better after you played with the internal settings -.
But you can change the cameras settings independently before recording tho right? The reason I ask is because I would like to have a webcam with fixed focus looking at a table and a second one looking at me but with auto focus and the logitech software that comes with the cameras is not vary good at working with more then one camera.
The difference in background focus is because obviously you haven't mounted both cameras in EXACTLY the same position on the computer. They teach you to standardize experimental conditions at school?
