Nice comparison Jon. For me, it's simple, if you don't mind the price of either one and you need one for the outdoors, go for Logitech, if you need one for indoors, go for Eve.
I vote for Logitech Circle View for the simple reason that I don’t need to install manufacturer app but the Home app will do all. I wish for every other smart home peripheral they have the option to directly add and configure it using Home app without using anything else.
For future reference, probably don’t flip the cameras when switching between daytime and nighttime video clips. Threw me off when I noticed the Circle View was on the left for daytime, but on the right for the nighttime clip immediately after
Great videos and information. But Thank God for RU-vid's 1.25x speed setting. I've always needed that on HomeKitAuthority and 1.5x on Shane Whatley's videos.
I’m looking for an awesome indoor camera, especially with night vision. Home kit isn’t required, but a nice to have. Should I be looking at the Eve, or elsewhere?
Thanks for the review! Do you happen to know if either of these cameras provide audio notifications? For example, the primary use I want the camera for is to notify me if my dog is barking loudly while I am away. Would either of these work for that? Having trouble finding info online.
once the camera senses movement, it should send a notification tou ur phone where u can view camera and see ur dog. im looking at a camera to look at my dog while at work.
Fantastic comparison. one attribute important to me is if either requires a separate hub / bridge, and if you already have some devices from one mfg or another. in my case I replaced WeMo mini and energy monitoring outlet switches with inexpensive Eve plugs and it couldn't' be easier, so I'm sold. My preference would have been Lutron Caséta but some outlets are tight and their more expensive module doesn't fit -- that and I experience immense frustration with WeMo regularly having to re-configure each one despite having a WeMo Bridge every month for WiFi password maintenance. I would be willing to bet that Eve has an outdoor cam coming soon, and more of these vendors will have 4k cams in 12-24 months. I'm thinking I may start with Eve indoor and re-purpose at a later date.
The Logitech off button is not an issue. The camera will have images of the perp that turned it off. Anyway, most bad people would smash the camera just as they would with ANY camera in reach.
Thanks so much. Great information clearly stated. I'm leaning towards Eve also because of the Automations functions in the app. You can do some of that in Shortcuts but the inbuilt Automations give extra applications for my purposes.
Nice comparison, very helpful thanks. Regarding indoor image quality you mention the Eve was clearer. From the short snippet shown from indoors, the ceiling light was in the frame on the Circle due to the larger FOV and outside the frame on the Eve. Did you try comparing the indoor quality If both cameras had the ceiling light in the frame (or where both did not have it in the frame)? I was just wondering if the Eve is always more clear or if it was partly due to the bright ceiling light causing the Circle to change image settings to avoid overexposure?
Constructive feedback: spend a lot less time explaining that this is your opinion, etc. because we understand that this is a review and opinions will be stated. Those qualifications took up a considerable percentage of the video.
@@HomeKitAuthority Sure, but same feedback applies. Just wanted you to know that, as someone cognizant of my time, the information to filler density of videos matters. There will always be some trolls or people who don’t pay close attention.
@@HomeKitAuthority got mine, works nicely. Performance as a hub seems average, paired a temperature sensor which worked fine but range is not great. And they don't seem to mesh with other zigbee devices such as the ikea bulbs I have around the house (would have expected that to increase the range)
