Logitech Extreme 3D PRO with Flight Simulator 2020 Review

This joystick never grows old. My grandpa used it to play Horse-Drawn-Carriage-Sim-1945 on his ENIAC computer.

I’ve had this stick since about flight sim 2004. Can’t believe it’s still in production!

I've used 3D Pro joysticks for years. I have several of them, some of which I bought from flea markets and thrift stores. Every one of them, when I took them home and cleaned them up, calibrated and worked perfectly. As long as you have a light hand on the stick, and don't slam them around, they'll last a very long time. They're also the most ergonomic stick on the market, which makes a BIG difference for long trips/missions.

This thing will never quit. I've had mine from 2004, and it's like new. Very good quality.

Have been watching msfs 2020 videos for a while and thinking of getting it. Also searched around for suitable joysticks when I remembered I bought a joystick 13-14 years ago that I rarely even tried. Now after looking through old storage for half an hour I found my Logitech extreme 3d pro and your video. Wasn't even sure the old joystick i had tucked away was going to be compatible, but now I'm more excited than ever to start playing. Thank you! 😀

Great review. I just played for a couple hours on my friend’s PC (I just started buying parts for my own, and hoping for it to be built by end of September!) and I found that playing with the keyboard was extremely clunky and honestly too “touchy.” A gentle input of a keystroke sometimes resulted in the plane spiralling out of control. For $30-40, this seems like a great product and I’m definitely considering buying after this review. Thanks again!

Bought it too just before FS2020 launch, for only $25, I cannot compare it with the other brands but I am very satisfied so far, I think must be the best price/performance joystick, even though it's more comfortable with the right hand, I use it with my left hand, and use my mouse on the right hand to look around and click on the virtual cockpit, I have put 5% of dead zone and -70% sensibility on all axis except throttle axis, after seing many videos from RL pilot, I think it make the controls more realistic that way

After battling with logitech yoke in my first experience with msfs recently and doing badly in the flight training because I felt the yoke was too clunky for me, I bit the bullet and bought this joystick. The difference is night and day! It's movements are precise and just right for me. I'm now completing the flight training with none of the troubles I had with the yoke. Wish I had tried the joystick first.

I've only played the training courses in MSFS2020, but really enjoyed so far; and am keen to play a lot more (especially while on lockdown 😐). I used Xbox One controller on PC, which actually works quite well. However, I was interested in a proper joystick, and think this one is a reasonably priced option. Thanks for the great review 🙂

that's the joystick i use for FS 2020. which was bought way back when i first purchased MS Flight Sim X back in 2007. still going strong, though i did have to put in some dead zones for the rudder since aileron input would result in slight rudder movement (made for an adventure landing at times !). once that deadzone was established, it's been smooth flying, and landings, for me with the extreme 3d pro

I just ordered this joystick along with the throttle control. I just started using X Plane 11 and have been flying a loop around north America in a Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 which flies with a joystick much like this one :) should be here tomorrow

at 2:05 you cover the throttle stick. Can you get small or fine control of the throttle? If I wanted to gently push the throttle from 100% down to say 87%, would that work pretty well? = Also is it easy to set up? and is set up automatic, or would I need to manually set every button? at 3:57 you say you can change buttons with the something, but I couldn't understand even after slowing down the audio. Can you tell me what you've said? thanks

So happy that these are back in production now and i can buy one, not a fan of yokes as i love the simplicity of a sidestick and since my favourite planes are airbus and fighter jets which all use sidesticks

I have a flight yoke from saitek and this joystick currently. I often times prefer to use the joystick because it takes up much less space and still give excellent performance. I don't feel like I lose any control from using it plus it does have rudder functionality which I don't have on the Yoke and throttle. By the way your english is great.

II had 3 of these, many years ago... 3 because they broke down after a few months and they replaced them under warranty. Interestingly, they were all the same. The left aileron deflected halfway when the joystick was fully deflected. At the beginning, calibration helped... then less and less. Cool as long as it works... It was a long time ago... maybe the problem has been fixed. And the spring is a bit too hard. Makes precise control difficult. In FS it is less disturbing in combat simulators, because it is difficult to aim precisely.

I've the "Non-Pro" version of the same stick but Flight Simulator 2020 doesn't show in the settings. The Legacy Windows 11 control panel show that it's perfectly recognized and working... What's wrong? Is too old for the MS marketing??

Why don't they put suction cups on the base? I mean, even the QuickShot joystick I used to play FS4 35 years ago had it. By the way, I'm using a Metalstrike 3D, pretty similar to the Extreme 3D, good enough.

I was thinking about getting the Thrustmaster T Flight hotas, but since the throttle has a mid point that it snaps to, think I'd rather get this and later on pair it with a proper throttle controller

Hello. I used to play with a USB PS2 controller, and I used to do a feature in menu controls, It's called: "Center ailer rudder" in flight control surface/Primary control surface section, (I think Number 5 on keyboard), So this feature make the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit & it's make the plane balanced & going straight when I lose control of the plane or when I take my hands off the controller to relaxing my hands or when I get up from the computer for a minute, So when I came back to the computer I found the plane still going in a straight way & I feel happy. (This function it's not Auto pilot, It's Center ailer rudder) But after I play with a new joystick "logetich Extreme 3D Pro" and when I adjust the same feature (Center ailer rudder) on one of the joystick buttons. So when I click on that button. I see the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit, BUT when I take my hand away from the logitech joystick, the plane going down or going up. So I have to hold the logetich joystick all the time to control the plane. Why was this not happening to me on the PS2 controller? Is there any solutions?
