This is basically a phone with a bigger screen and controls. This will fail badly... SteamDeck is way more power, and when it is old, you can use it for something else. They don't lockdown anything on it. That's the beauty of it.

You can get a steam deck for $50 more than this. It's ridiculous they would even think this would be successful as a strictly cloud gaming android device at that price range. This should cost maybe $150 tops and that's being generous.
@Sakosaga
@Sakosaga Год назад
@@desmondho6876 I don't think they can price it anyless. The Nintendo switch gets a deal from Nvidia to charge what they do because they order in bulk and it's the same from valve for the steam deck for AMD. They probably have it priced as low as it can be with actually getting a bit of profit behind the RnD. This product should be like 150 at the most but because of how things cost now a days it's super inflated for sure.

@@Thornskade I have a LG V60 with a Snapdragon 865 and I have a gamesir x2 controller that I thought I was going to use a lot more. The OLED screen is great, but I would prefer an actual 16x9 screen because the device is just alot bigger than it needs to be for streaming. Plus, the black bars are annoying. Not to mention having built in controls is just more convenient than having to get out the controller and phone every time. I personally would invest in a purpose-built device like this, at a considerably lower price.

You do know you can leave the controls on the phone? Anyway, this reasoning is quite ridiculous, sorry to say. I'm not spending $350 because I'm too lazy to get out two things instead of one (seriously?) and have a worse device with a worse display on top but again, you do you. By the way, black bars is more the fault of the games not supporting your resolution. Game streaming is such a great service, huh? Many native games do support the resolution and so do your PC games. You're going to see a lot of black bars when emulating anyhow.

Yeah, the absurd price seems to be this thing's undoing, same with the Razer one. For about the same price as a Steam Deck which can play full PC games, along with emulating anything these can and then some, AND it can stream games, AND it can be used as a full desktop PC, these things can only play mobile phone games, emulators, or stream games...which the phone you already own can do. Once these things inevitably flop and you can scoop em up for half-off they might be okay as a dedicated emulation station but beyond that there's no appeal here.

So it would be way cheaper to buy a good controller and a battery. at 350 it costs as much as the loki mini pro with the i3 upgrade, whole the odin mini would probably outperform it for a 100 bucks less.

They nailed the form factor, and battery life isn't stress-inducing - two factors that have held me back from the Steam Deck. But for the asking price, the G-Cloud needs a Snapdragon 865 or slightly better to compete. As-is, the performance isn't too much better than the RP3 for more than twice the cost. Edit: And I still want to know why the hell Tencent needed to be involved.

If you’re just streaming on the Steam Deck, you’ll get around 7 or 8 hours of battery. You only get 1 1/2 or 2 hours when playing a modern AAA title. And if you have more free time than that to play video games you need a job.

I agree with done other commenters that this is going to do in price real fast. The recently announced Razer Edge is $50 more with a better processor and screen as well as more internal storage. Yes the Steam Deck is also $50 more but I personally don't have much interest in PC gaming. Just about anything I'd want to play is a few years old is considered retro and can stream from my laptop. Samw goes for emulation. I don't really need to bring PC games out with me. If I ever have the time to play something while in out of the house, it's usually a retro game. While the Deck is an awesome handheld and my most favorite of handhelds. The Deck is not for everyone and some features that the Deck could run require a bit of detailed configuring to get them to work (I myself had to use step-by-step online tutorials from RU-vidrs to get my Windows PC games to work on my Deck). You will get a better performance with a too phone, but they aren't perfect solutions. I find that both joypad grips and telescopic grips tend to feel loose and cheap (although I haven't tried the more expensive ones). And phone's have a less than ideal screen ratio for most games, meaning large horrible black borders. Lastly, you ideally need to use a older phone as it would kill the battery on your current phone just when you most need it. Also shortens the lifetime of the phone probably due to heating issues.
