Thanks for the great tutorial. Before tackling this, if it's because the switch is hit-or-miss, it might just be some gunk inside the switch that can be cleaned out with contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol, and blown out a few times. In my case, that fixed the problem. It is good to know how to replace the switch though, if it is beyond cleaning.
Yes, you can try to do as Don F says before replacing the switch. You can use 99% IPA to clean the switch. For me, this solved the issue for a few weeks but then started acting up again. That's why I just went ahead and replaced it. If you don't mind cleaning it every couple of weeks or months that you can try doing the IPA trick until it no longer works for you.
Thank you for the tutorial. The scroll wheel click on the Logitech 402 is really hard and loud as you said. I like to use it a lot, so I'm also thinking about replacing it. This mouse gets the double click issue as well. Just fixed that today. Adios
I think as long as it fits in the holes where you have to solder them. Also when I first replaced it with the hard-clicking button, I remember I had to shave it down a bit in order for it to not be click all the time.
Thanks dude. My mouse's middle button seized to work and I replaced it but it surprisingly didn't work! so I thought there might be something wrong with the type of key I used, which was a random similar key that fit into the place and was apparently like the one it already had. that's why I asked that question. any idea? is there any difference between legs of the key and I have to put a different leg in a different hole or something?
@@tocube1 Aslong as they're both on the same side the way I soldered them. They should technically only fit one way regardless because theyre a little rectangle if I'm correct. The way a switch works is basically everytime you click on it, the two sides connect for that second you click on it letting the mouse know you hit the button.
Hi Chris, thanks for the video. For our convenience, could you add the part hyperlinks in the video description? About soldering: could you not wick-off the solder before removing the switch? The PCB holder I am very much interested in.
I have added the link to the switches in the description. For the PCB holder, I have to find the link to where I purchased it. I'll post as soon as I find it. As for the soldering question, you can wick off the joints before removing the switch. You can also use a solder sucker to remove the solder.
Hi, thanks for this video, sir can i ask what is the name of the button(switch) you did use? any name? i've searched a little on the internet and found that it might be a B3F-1020 - OMRON?? please confirm me
last time buying logitech piece of junk mouse!!! middle mouse button often won't respond, or double/triple click when I e.g want to open a new window. Sometimes I have to use alot of force for the middle mouse button to work. Scroll sometimes zooms automatically too. Have opened and cleaned it multiple times with isopropyl alcohol and managed to reduce these symptoms somewhat, until today. Nothing helps. Last time I'm buying a Logitech mouse
*Please tell me can I change scroll wheel sensor. My middle click is not working but I don't care because I can't use my mouse because scroll whell works randomly. Can I buy scroll wheel sensor in India.*
