@NoName98 I've owned the thrustmaster TX and the 920 and the Logitech lasted longer and have broke my TX twice and my 920 is same as day one. Just my experience tho
@@NPCLiam right? I'm a guitar player, I started on a Walmart guitar and learned songs off of guitar hero by ear, once I was hitting solos and learning songs at a consistent rate I went and got lessons + electric guitar. Starting cheap is just ideal.
as a top 1% oval driver on iracing, the g923 took me from the start of my journey up to 3k irating. definitely not top end equipment but absolutely worth the investment for a beginner wheel. everyone starts somewhere.
Just ordered one and these comments get me so gassed, seeing the negativity made me feel stupid. Seeing this makes me feel ready to learn haha. Gotta start somewhere!
@RuKuaj I have one and its great. You will be slower then with a controller for a bit. And I do recommend turning traction control, and the race line one for a bit but it works. I just got a 5:31 around the nurburgring the other day on it
@@youraveragegamer8832 So almost 3 times the price. Don’t forget you also have to buy fuel and repair the car often. Oh btw, you also can die in a race if ur unlucky.
Although I now have an expensive direct drive rig, I started sim racing using the logitech g wheels and they are not anything to make fun of. For the price that they are, especially 2nd hand, you can have so much fun with them, and be somewhat competitive with them.
True. I just don't recommend buying Logitech wheels new because there are far better alternatives at that price point. I had a G25 and a G29 and they were good wheels for what I needed at the time
It's perfect for people wanting some good driving while not going broke. Sure, the high end stuff is way better but man I just wanna drive and have fun.
High tech stuff surely is better but that doesn't make people better drivers. For the sake of begineers in the racing simulator niche, I couldn't recommend more than I already am a basic setup like this.
I'm old enough to remember when an entry-level wheel only turned 270 degrees total, got its tension from a static spring, and didn't have paddle shifters
@@nopenope9153Live for speed? Bro, im as old as that game and I’ve played it quite a bit. It’s insane how well it holds up. Like… 20 years…. Got DAYUMN!!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@NPCLiamI just managed to find one for $120 in perfect condition on fb marketplace. It’s insane how much more immersive it is than playing in a keyboard
@@f1.shxrpyI’ve had my G920 and the shifter for 7 years using it about ever day and it works just like it did when I first got it. It’s held up extremely well.
I had a Logitech I used to use in a GT6 Sunday league I used to race in. Matter of fact, I was so broke it was given to me by a fellow competitor. Sometimes the value of the wheel is in the situation it was born from.
I know so many people that have used this wheel and the PlayStation equivalent and have never had a bad word to say about it. It's a well priced wheel for what it is
I have a bad word on it Rather g923 I bought it and returned it a week later, it shakes, ffb is ass, you have to baby sit the wheel when drifting it just sucks get a t300 Your friends don't complain bc they don't know what a good wheel should feel like
I used my trusty Logitech G29 for five years before upgrading to a Logitech G pro dd, and the G29 has worked really great. Definitely good value for the money
@pianoboy836 Yes the steering wheel and pedals are both top notch. And it just plug and play, and it just works. But it's really expensive though, so it really depends on your budget really. But if you can afford it I really recommend it
I have a full DD rig now with load cell brakes, but when I was starting, my g29 saw me through my first competetive races and I did quite well in it. There are guys in iracing dominating on even older versions of this wheel like a g27. Fanatec has bundles now for like $450, but in certain countries, the g29/g920 cost like a months salary after import tax and shipping, so a Fanatec rig is completely out of the question.
Same bro I have put a lot of hours in on mine and it’s all just for fun. It does the job better than some options. Thrustmaster doesn’t usually come with a shifter and a 3 pedal set up for the same price range so in my book it’s a banger.
The G29 doesn't come with a shifter either, which is stupid since they are selling the same wheel basically since the G25 for a higher price and you have to buy the shifter separately lol
Had my G29 for sooo many years and had a blast. Now I finally upgraded to a 12nM direct drive wheel and it’s night and day. I think as long as you don’t try a direct drive, you will be more than happy with a belt driven base
I have had my g920 since 2019 and it still works great, I have never come across a reason to get at new wheel this on works amazingly, especially for the price.
I don't have 13k to buy a full-blown racing Sim however I had enough for a Logitech g29 and I've thoroughly enjoyed it I drive on average 8hours a day on that wheel and it's never skipped a beat
I’ve won and qualified for plenty of professional sim races on my g920. Also great to learn how to drive manual. Just make sure to crank the force-feedback strength to 100%
@@the-ironclad idk, sounds like youre flattening your gas pedal full down then wondering why full gas is making you spin, i see everyone who gets their first sim do this. the FFB should never cause you to spin unless your wheel is physically jerking to one direction or your wheel is broken, and has the wheel equivalent of stick drift
@@uberrandompersonThe thing is for just learning to drive a manual and getting the basics down. it can be a good learning tool, especially since it does give you the ability to understand clutch points and in some ways not having a clutch-like feel is a good thing because it means that they have to rely on other feedback like looking at the tachometer and listening for sounds which means that they get then get you set and then they have the added input of getting in a car and failing the clutch power as well. but they have an understanding of what a friction point is now and they have understanding of what happens when you shift wrong. The fact is is that it's a great starting point compared to getting in the manual and fucking up every 5 minutes
I bought mine in 2018 and it's been fine for me ever since. I dunno why others don't like it when not everyone has the accessibility to get a steering wheel for driving/racing games geez.
@@danielh9981 Calm down mate, not everyone has a few thousand laying around. Hell, at that price you may as well buy a real car. The logitech is a beginner/cheap wheel, ofcourse it aint gonna preform top of the line for £180-300
Logitech g920/g29 are probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to entry level racing wheels. If you have a 3d printer you can make it even better.
@@NPCLiam you can print some mods for it. Like my g920 has an f1 style wheel, upgraded the pause, share, RB, and LB button, and converted the paddle shifter magnetic.
This is the same level of "built vs bought" in the real world and not behind simulators. I think its absolutely better to buy something cheap and modify it instead of paying tons of money for something that probably won't even fit most people's style.
That’s my opinion too I don’t want some trash $80 dollar wheel that’s just gonna be disappointing but I sure as shit am not spending 7 to 8 grand to drive cars in a video game
The g920 is a perfect budget wheel. You have compatibility with almost every racing game, the FFB is decent to begin in Sim racing and the pedals are way better than the competence of it's price. I remember that my first wheel doesn't even have FFB and it just had 270° of rotation
It’s great and where I got my start and it’s still kicking 3 years later. Also having a solid mounting point like a NLR wheels stand 2.0 or an omega gt was just as game changing as getting direct drive Get good cheap then get good hardware and dominate + I’ve had a few issues with my fanatec stuff. Didn’t send the proper Quick release and a firmware update bricked my pedals. Also the shaft my steering wheels go on can come loose and need to be placed back a re tightened. (But their customer service was helpful through all of it)
Bro, any higher than £500, and I'll just go buy myself a car 😂 Edit: I'm finished dealing with people who don't realise you can buy a Shitbox and race it. Please, don't ask anymore.
@@luuify Why, how much you spent? I spent around about 250 quid for g29, shifter and stand. I also got a custom gear knob and hoping to buy custom wheel
You're absolutely right even do I own fanatec gear now I could be very competitive with my g29 it's very good for the price and you can have great fun and be competitive on it
For most people it’s one of the best entry wheels. Later on if you care about getting a better setup you can drop $$$ for that fanatec but for under $200 in the used market it’s hard to beat
I started on a g920. It’s super fun for what it is and very good for the price.I have upgraded from there but it’s one of if not the best entry level wheel
I just bought mine today, and I'm gonna be getting a nice little rig for it since everything hurts when i use it with my desk chair, but it's a really nice entry-level wheel that doesn't break the bank. I feel like with a little foldable rig it would work perfectly.
I've had my G27 for 10 years and I love it but yes it's dated and the tech isn't there. I would love to get into a dd wheel, but my G27 has a special place in my heart
Anyone that can be competitive with these wheels should definitely start saving. I was good with my g920 but when I switched it opened a whole new door for me
Changing your brake pedal to a loadcell would likely achieve the most gains and improve consistency more than anything else. It's the lowest hanging fruit to achieve faster consistent laps. The wheel is not so important as most people think in terms of lap times.
@braveheart4603 didn't find this one out until i got loadcell. On the 920 it's like a guessing game for braking. Sometimes it's too hard sometimes its not hard enough. Once I changed just wow. So much difference. And I do agree 100% the wheel isn't that much different but the pedals are night and day
@@marshallpeters1437 I'm just about to get one and can't wait to start leaning to use it. I've loved getting to where i've got with my g920 over the last year but the brake pedal with the loadcell and all the better software to program the pedals input is what i'm most looking forward to. Some cars you need fine control on the brake to get the optimum rotation. I'm looking forward to the smoother feeling of a DD wheel also and being able to feel the force feedback detail.
I’ve still got my G923 even after getting a Fanatec DD and the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Race. I hook it up for any of my guests that like to casually race.
Thats logitech for you. They sell almost everything at the right price. I dont think i have came across a logitech product worth less than what it was sold for. Theyre not the best products, but for sure a good brand.
Only problem I had with the G29 were the pedals, I replaced them after a year or so with Asetek Forte pedals. A few months back I tried a Direct drive and ever since then I want to replace my G29. It's great for the price though, you can't expect a $300 wheel + pedal set to come to ranks of Simucube.
Even when I upgraded with a Fanatec and the Turtle Beach V1 Race, I still kept and currently use my G923 (even went out and bought the shifter). The TrueForce gives it a little extra fidelity in the wheel where other entry level wheels don’t. Hands down best budget wheel on the market.
Tbf the biggest difference between top-en wheels and cheap ones (meeting the minimum requirement of having force feedback) is that the expensive one gives more realistic feedback and you need less time to be fast with it, like it reduces the time you take from using it from the first time to the moment when you can really be fast on it
I tell alot of times, the simracing snobs are the greatest gatekeepers, complain about everything, talk down to ppl that don´t have high-end expensive sets, talk crap if you point out problems in their favorite sim and attack you if you don´t hold the same opinions. They even do that to real world race drivers lol.
I've had a G29 since late 2018. Used it for more than 5 years and perfectly did the job. It started getting a bit old tho (drove A LOT with it, smth around 70-80k miles I think), so I've changed it for a Moza R5.
I have a g920 for my set up because I tried it at my buddy’s house and it was one of the coolest experiences ever because I never even seen a sim racing set up irl,so when I saw the price I knew it was the one for how good it felt for the price it was, people think you have to have the newest and most expensive stuff to be competitive, but some people just want to have fun for a affordable price
Logitech steering wheels like the G29, G920, and even the older G27 are fantastic options for most people. They’re reasonably priced at around $550 AUD, especially when you compare it to an elite controller at $250. If you’re moving from an Xbox controller and getting into sim racing, these wheels are a natural next step. They have great modding support from the community, letting you customize your setup. Plus, the lower price point means it’s less risky to mod, making it perfect for those who want to get into the hobby without spending a ton. While they aren’t top-tier like Fanatec, they are still very good and can be competitive, especially with mods. hell that's what I've done. and honestly I actually prefer to some of the lower cost fanatec options since it feels right for me
I started with a lower end wheel but I got to tell you guys direct drive is so much better. try and look for used equipment in your area regardless of what route you take for your first wheel
I have a g920 and it is the perfect wheel. You get all the immersion of a 10k wheel for 300 bucks. It has 900 degrees of rotation, reliable force feedback, compatible with basically every game. It’s plug and play, and it works well with VR. The only problem I see is that to use Logitech pedals or shifter you have to have the wheel as a base. But overall it’s an amazing wheel
The good thing is that because of the Logitech wheels. there's actually quite a lot of mods for both the shifter and pedals to make them really good which in my use doing the mods is actually increase my joy of using the wheel tenfold since the wheel itself feels great and adding the mods has been the shifter and pedals also feel good
5 years of my g29 and she still works the same as when i got her, paid 100 quid recently for loadcell brakes and a fresh potentiometer for the accelerator but other than that, same enjoyment for so long. Its a great device. Would i buy a dd if i could afford it? Yes. Am i not having fun because of that fact? Absolutely not.
I got a G923 and I love it! I did get to drive with a direct drive wheel recently and I will say the experience is better and I definitely want one but I’m satisfied until I can afford the direct drive.
Im buying one tomorrow used for only £150 it may not be anything wild but im a student times are tough. Just wanna be able to cruise and race with more immersion than a controller
Drove 5 years on this wheel before i switched to a DD and it was totaly fine for the money! Im surprised that it even lasted that long (for its build-quality).
I also have a G29, and for the price it really isn't bad at all. Honestly, it's made so that the average gamer who might want to try out sim racing can try it out with an affordable option, and he can just set it up on his gaming desk. That's the way I perceive it, and if he/she loves it, you continue upgrading(and regret spending money every upgrade you make). That's what its made for
At the end of the day. It doesn't really matter how expensive your wheel might be or how competitive you might be. All that really matters is that you have fun.
The first upgrade I made after getting my g920 was get new pedals. Completely changed the game. I’ve now upgraded everything and no longer use the g920 but no upgrade felt as drastic as the better pedals
I started with a Momo Racing Force and drove in many leagues with my trusty old G27 that started to make horrible noises but is still in use by a friend of mine after about 12 years. Haven't heard of many Fanatec products lasting that long sadly...
I also have a g920 and I love it. I’m sure I’d enjoy the extra force feedback a little bit but I don’t know if I’d get a whole extra 2-300 dollars worth of enjoyment to get it. It’s a perfect entry level wheel and I love it and I don’t blame you for loving it either.
Bro it doesn't matter what you have in life as long as you enjoy it you will be fine I grew up in a not so rich family and never got to experience stuff so expensive
It's been a couple of days since I bought my first wheel. It's g923 and I like it. But always see that people complain about it that it's weak but to a beginner like me it's a whole new level. When I see your clips it gives me a relief to be honest. Cheers 🔥
I have a pxn v9 which most people who get into sim racing doesn’t want to buy. At the end of the day it’s still a toy and if you have fun, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says
On a G29 I: -Had 5k plus iRating -Was vice champion in AMC -Won a top split 6h Spa in a 919 -Won multiple top split VLN races driving solo in various classes -And won the 2019 top split Nürburgring 24h in class After 7 years in action, I've just retired my G29 for a Moza R9, but through thick and thin, championships and leagues, racing, rallying, trucking, week 13ing and flying(?), my G29 persevered and excelled (Not the shifter. Screw the shifter). Btw, still using my G29 pedals on my R9 lmao
I ran the G27 for almost 9 years. Then I was lucky enough to win championship on iRacing with it. Winning a complete direct drive MOZA Racing full top end racing bundle. So yes you can be competitive.
Spent 350 on a g920 shifter and pedals, definitely worth the money especially since it taught me how to drive a manual in real life and still race with it to this day
I really like my G920. Finally got to fulfill my dreams and get a “real” sim racing wheel, pedals, and shifter setup. Now all I need is the sim rig lol.
NLR wheel stand 2.0 is really good just a bit pricy theirs also the omega GT. Getting a solid mounting point was just as big of a leap for me as switching to direct drive.
