Next gen should have an included battery, wired mode support and backlight. thats how this is gonna become the best minimalist keyboard. the Satechi x1 is dope af but theres something about the k380 that makes it look fresh and modern.
Get an eneloop rechargeable battery. Internal batteries are good but when they're done, they're done. Doesn't matter if other components of the device still works fine because the battery would have been dead anyway.
That would be dope but considering that the MX Keys Mini exists, I would be curious how Logitech would update the K380 and add those features while keeping it within that price range
Typing this on my new Logitech K380. I'm surprised how quickly and easily it can switch between devices and how modern it looks. The weight of the keyboard gives it substance I think. Overall a quality keyboard.
I just bought this one. I have 3 computers at my desk(m1 Mac mini, gaming computer, game capture computer) hooked up to the same monitor. This will be perfect! Thanks for the video as always.
i almost got the old version of the k380 which is the same price and had a lot of issues in the reviews! im so happy you've shown me the upgrade, thank you! bc i really wanted pink and small keyboard for playing the sims 4 in bed. just so sad there is no micro usb port for rechargeable.
Does the white K380 get dirty easier? I still confused to choose whether the black or white one because I'm afraid the white one can be dirty/stain/yellow by time Thank you for your help!
If you had gotten the "Windows Version" of this keyboard, which also works perfectly fine on Mac, the backspace key actually says BACK on it and above it is a regular Delete key.
I just bought the Mac mini 16gb should arrive tomorrow. It’s all thanks to your videos and reviews. Although I’ve selected another keyboard I needed usb-c everything
I was torn between my HHKB Snow and the default ChromeOS Keyboard that comes on a HP Chromebase. This is better than both, even if it's for Mac. Such a great designed board! And it's only $30!!!!
Like you, I have the K380 and Mac Mini M1. They work great together, but my one gripe is that the Mini doesn't seem to recognize and pair with the K380 right away when I wake it up, so I have to plug a wired keyboard in to type my password and pair the K380 once logged in. It might be the Mini's well-documented Bluetooth issues (the same thing used to happen with my Pebble mouse, but it seems to work now). Anyway, it's an inconvenience, but otherwise the keyboard works great!
Though I like this keyboad but disappointed with the factor of no backlight and round shaped key. I can live without backlit keys. But how about the round shaped keys. Does anyone find it good and better post using it ?
I’ve been using this keyboard and have just upgraded as I didn’t like it. They keys don’t seem to be in the right place and I keep misspelling things. Moved to a mechanical 87 keyboard with brown switches so it’s quieter than the red switches. So far very happy.
Which mech keyboard did you end up getting? I’ve been obsessed w watching keyboard videos recently and a company is sending me my 1st mechanical keyboard soon. Can’t wait!
@@b3naqua Hi, this is the one I got on Amazon “Phantom RGB 88-Key (UK QWERTY ISO Layout) Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (UK 88 BLUE QWERTY)”. I’m from the UK but was only £58 and the build quality is amazing for a mechanical keyboard at this price. I’m sure it comes with a US layout.
Hi Ben. I'm using this keyboard on my macBook Air, and because I'm Portuguese and I teach French, I'm using the Spanish Layout. Th only key I haven't found is the "Delete" key. Can you help me with that please?
Hey, i got a question. When i use this keyboard on Microsoft Teams, the enter key sends messages. But i would just like to go into a new line. How do i change that? (Sorry for bad English, i am not a native speaker). Thank you!
Did you have any issues with the spacebar working in gmail & notability? My spacebar works in all apps except these two. Instead of spacing the cursor moves to other parts of the window.
Just discovered your channel and appreciate the review of these two keyboards. I'm a bit disappointed that they are "off white" (pretty much a light gray) instead of stark white like the Apple Magic Keyboard. It doesn't really match with my Apple Magic Mouse (white).
I just got an iPad Air 4 with the magic keyboard case, and I love it, but I also want to have the iPad raised as a more ergonomic desk option, with a stand, keyboard and mouse. Is this keyboard really all it’s cracked up to be? It seems to get really good reviews… Does it work well with the iPad? Also is there a mouse you recommend?
@@b3naqua Sorry for that dumb question, but the media keys worked perfectly with the iPad? Like the brightness and volume? Thank you so much for the helpful info!
F3 (shows up the open tabs) and cmd + F3 (shows up the desktop) does different things on Mac. Can you use both F3 and cmd + F3 functions or is it not possible to use F3 by itself since F3 is for bluetooth pairing for this keyboard?
I bought m1 mac mini last week. Now i need choose affordable keyboard & mouse. Logitech MK235 combo good choice for Mac OS??? (Command , Control , function keys & shortcuts n tips are work properly???)
Very nice !! I am about to buy a mac mini m1 and this keyboard, but I have red a lot of reviews about the Bluetooth issues. People who need to use a keyboard with a cable to first start the device and then pair. Then people who talk about deactivating file vault. It's so confusing and makes me doubt . But this video gives me kinda hope that I will make the right choice. Hopefully...
The k380 works fine w Mac mini M1! But like you said, I would set up the computer initially with a wired keyboard like the magic keyboard to make sure it sets up properly. Then, pair the k380 and it should work fine.
Hi Ben! I recently bought this keyboard which I paired with my Macbook Pro. Working pretty well for about 2 days. Now, I'm having trouble with the cmd/alt button. Shortcut for copy (cmd+c) & paste (cmd+v) is not working. I'm not sure if there is a specific settings for this. Hope you can help me out! Thanks.
I think it's really comfortable! It's a very gentle and quiet keyboard. If you're coming from a larger keyboard, it will probably take some time to get used to, but I think it's worth it!
I'm reeling because I've been seeing everyone with this keyboard for their ipad or tablet, and I've seen it costs over $50 Canadian. I got mine for like, $20 at some local discount store a couple years ago. I'm spoiled, lol
can you actually game on this keyboard? i don't like mechanical keyboards so i'm looking foward this keyboard, but im a gamer also, it will be good for rpg's and some cs go ?
Yes, I think it would be awesome for gaming! Tho it is Bluetooth only so there might be a tiny bit of latency, which might not be fast enough for gamers who need a fast, wired keyboard for minimal lag.
When setting up for the first time using Mac Mini, can I use this? This doesnt have a USB receiver and I currently have this so I don't know if I can set my upcoming Mac Mini with this keyboard.
@benaqua hey bro! Mac mini 16gb has arrived, logitech k380 is connected. Need some good sound... what speaker you recommend?? my monitor speakers are wack
yo congrats on your new mini!!! Hmm what’s your budget for speakers? I use some old 8 inch studio monitors (M-Audio BX8a) cuz I produce music on my Mac mini M1 a lot.
@@b3naqua ha tbh not a lot, this setup has dented my pocket rn. Was thinking maybe a small sound bar to go under monitor. Haven’t really got the space rn on my desk for monitors
Great review, I have the same issue with the space bar, It’s very annoying especially when typing in a library, I’m thinking to exchange fir a new one, or it will have the same problem ?
I think it's an issue with the keyboard that will probably persist imo. But on the good side, I don't really notice it much. Most of the time, it's fine, and then it'll randomly squeak when it actuates in a certain way.
Great video! Did you have any issues with Mac (and maybe Windows) shortcuts? For instance, other reviewers had issues with Fn+leftarrow, Fn+rightarrow, and Fn+delete
@@b3naqua Does the fn+left and fn+right work as expected? Because I have the K380 windows version and these keys combinations doesn't work as expected on mac.
Typing this comment from K380. I guess it would be better if you have mentioned about the types of this keyboard. The one I am using has different setup when it comes to keys.
Could you recommend a good wireless mouse as well that is affordable (like for eg this keyboard was)? I want to use it with an m1 air. I have a m720 triathlon which is great with wondows but slow and sluggish with the m1.
Quick Question - Does it work when logging in from boot or resuming from sleep? I heard there are some problems with third-party keyboards for logging in..
I had the K480 years ago and I liked it, but I remember finding the top of the keyboard (the phone/iPad mount) kind of too bulky imo. I prefer the K380 for its tiny form factor tbh
Hi bro! excellent video but I’ve a doubt about delete file. If I buy the specific model to apple, Does it work like standard mac? just press command + delete? or need to press more keys? Tks for help 🙏
@@haroonimran3280 good choice! Magic Keyboard is awesome, too. Some days I randomly crave typing on it cuz it feels really familiar, esp after using MBP keyboards for the past bunch of years. The MK is such a beautiful design, too. I wish it could easily connect to multiple devices tho.
You have to use a wired keyboard or an Apple wireless keyboard to set the Mac up for the first time, I’m pretty sure. I haven’t found a way to connect the Logitech keyboard to a brand new Mac
Hey please tell me that If I connect this keyboard with 3 devices and then want another one to connect then Can I forget or Unpair the earlier connected devices or not please reply 🥺
hi! i just got a mac mini m1 and a k380 to go with it, it seems like my k380 is not connecting to my mac mini on login. so I am kept in the login screen unable to type m password? is there a work around for this issue? thanks.
when you're first setting up the Mac mini, I would suggest using a wired keyboard first to set it up. Then once you're logged in, connect the K380 via bluetooth. The next time you login, you should be able to use the K380 wirelessly to login.
I do - they’re both really good, but I prefer the K380 over the magic keyboard for typing. It’s quieter and faster for me to type on. There’s something really efficient and satisfying about the typing experience that’s hard to describe. Plus, the K380 has multi device support - I do a lot of switching back n forth between my M1 and iPad Pro.
Hi can you help me if i really need to press f2 for my desktop what key do i need to press? Because everytime i press f2 they keep transfer the bluetooth i need the f2 function for reboot my desktop 🖥️ computer please help
It’s been a month with the Logitech keyboard and I love it but today it started to wobble like it is not balanced... O.o idk why. The back looks normal
Nice review Ben. I am really committed to get mac mini soon, but have few doubts with my old devices: 1. I have 4 yrs old logitech k480 and works fine with iPad. But afraid if there'd be any connectivity issues with new macmini 2. Have old desktop with vga port and I doubt if it connects well with macmini using hdmi to vga connector.
Thanks! Not sure about the k480 but I'd imagine it would mostly work with M1 cuz my very old k380 (the dark grey one) works fine with the M1 mini. Haven't tried a vga to hdmi adapter, so not sure about that.
@@b3naqua Thanks Ben, my k480 connects well with ipad and also checked today with my friend's macbook. So hopefully not get any issues with macmini. For hdmi to vga, hoping it must support old monitor n don't wanna spend extra bucks on new. So fingers crossed 🙂
anyone have issue with this keyboard, syncing? I paired it to my Mac mini M1 it works fine when the Mac is on. The issue is when I power off the Mac and boot it up it does not recognize the keyboard. I have to power on the apple keyboard to sign in, then the K380 then sync
I don't think the Macs will do monitor control on anything other than the LG Ultrafine 24 and 27. Only monitors that already have that functionality built-in would recognize those controls.
@@b3naqua it works on the external LG and Dell monitors you tested when the keyboard and MBP are hooked up? Or it works just on the built-in display of the MBP? The Mini has no built-in display that supports those features which would explain why it doesn’t work with the Mini.
Once you set up the bluetooth connection between this keyboard and a laptop, will it automatically connect when you turn the laptop on? Since it only has a bluetooth connection instead of a wireless USB connection like some other Logitech keyboards, my only concern is that having to pair the keyboard to the laptop every morning before work could get annoying.
Yes and I didn't like it. It felt too big for me. I realized I don't need all the extra keys, number pad etc and I'd rather have a smaller, more minimal keyboard.
