#logitech #keyboardasmr #mechanicalkeyboard #asmr #logitechkeyboard #logitechpopkeys Quite tricky to disassemble yet worth the time if you decide to hold on this keeb.
I wanted to thank you because this video helped me a lot. In my case, I used a layer of foam which was very difficult to install but was totally worth it.
A tip from someone who watches a lot of custom keyboard vids. Make the before and after modding sounds a bit shorter, especially the before sound. You'd be surprised how quickly someone gets bored of asmr keyboard sounds. Hope that helps!
I personally did the tempest mod on mine with 2 layers of tape and lubed the switches and it sounds and feels a lot nicer, the keys don't feel scratchy anymore. I also ordered some neoprene foam adhesive but as it is right now it feels like a really great improvement and I think adding it in is probably unnecessary
Hi, only if you would swap the switches for something else. You could also try o-rings. They will put your keys slightly higher so the travel feel will change, but they also have a special sound tweak so worth to try and see.
I have this keyboard and used o rings. I got new key caps and it was also necessary so they didn’t bottom out on the board. I used a combo of 2mm and 3mm o rings. 2.5 might be a happy medium
Yeah it differs from the usual cherry profile but it's closer to the xda profile as it's quite flat. Brown switches help to have that accentuated feeling when switching from key to key, I bet with linears these keycaps would not be as comfortable. Sound is also a bit affected by the keycaps but not drastically in this case.
From my experience, these keycaps are dumb :( It was very uncomfortable for me to type, the key travel was too long, and my fingers fell into the spaces between the keys. I changed the keycaps to low-profile ones (all the keycaps got up, except for the space) and all printing problems disappeared. The keyboard itself is great if you mod it and change the keycaps.
@@more_nya6436 I agree there with the keycaps! i went for a Honeymilk keycap set i got off amazon, the only dowmfall is the space bar is too large to fit on the keyboard with the other keys attached, but nothing like a bit of sandpaper wont fix! (only need to sand a tiny tiny bit off the left and right of the spacebar!)
I'm having issues removing the yellow frame too. May I know the tool/stick you used to take that off? Also, should I remove the back cover first (black cover) for me to remove the yellow frame?
Correct, you need to first remove the top side of the back black panel as there are screws beneath. Then only start to clip off the yellow top panel - you might need a credit card or similar thin plastic thing to clip it off.
I just foam and tape modded mine. Pretty great results not going to lie. However, now I have an issue with the on/off switch being hard to move and stay in place once it gets there. Any suggestions?
Glad you like it! For the switch, that might be a tape or something from the modding that interferes with it internally, you'd need to disassemble it again to troubleshoot. Be careful though that switch is tiny and if something blocks it then you need to disassemble the keyboard slowly to not pry it off.
@@ProArt18 yeah. I’ve taken it apart and cleared anything I could find but no luck so far. I didn’t think about lifting it up and checking under it though. Or do I need to clear the tape in that’s area from the PCB?
@@definitelynotchadfish the tape can lift the pcb slightly and push the switch towards the top, so indeed you might need to remove a bit of tape from that area, also try if the switch works fine when it's outside the housing
How did you take off the plastic frame? I cannot seem to pry open the top side. The left, right, and bottom side were easy. But the top side seem to be stuck
HI, I have the same keyboard and some of the keys are not working properly, I need to prees them really hard in order to work. How do you recommend fixing it? lube? Isopropyl alcohol? Thanks
Ciao! isopropyl alc, yes, little by little in between stem and casing, and between drops continuously press the key so that alcohol can get to the affected contacts within the switch. I strongly recommend removing batteries and turning the keyboard on to reduce the risk of capacitors going wild.
If you are ok with soldering then definitely you could replace it. Only challenge is that you have to find the same switches to match the height, feel and look. These roccat switches are more often found used as roccat doesn't really offer replacement parts. You can sometimes find a very cheap non working board and salvage the switches
@@secrethumanmachine I actually just did this with the same keyboard and had pretty decent results. It's not a super drastic difference but I can assure you that the difference is there. It also made the board feel quite a bit better for me. But I have have 3mm o rings on most keys and 2mm on the top row and some others that need it
For the 10K people who may like the looks but not the sound, or who got it as a gift, or who have a spouse or child who wanted this board and now annoy you with its stock sound, or for those just curious.
