Review of using them for 5 years now for anyone that cares- they work. They do the job, you won't really jam out to music, they have next to no bass and going loud (above 50%) distorts them a lot, past 70% it's mostly static, but they're good for anything else like watching RU-vid or background quiet music, and you won't notice the fact they're cheap.
great video. They didn't go for USB power because USB simply can't provide the current and voltage required to drive anything but the most basic speakers.
Honestly though, for it's model and it's price. It's not bad. Plus the sound quality didn't sound that bad for speakers. 100% who the fuck will blast their music like that? 60% already radiates all around the house and possible outside. In my opinion, I would buy these speakers just so that I can have a better experience when I'm watching movies, wearing headphones is just painful and uncomfortable.
The probable reason for NOT being USB powered is that they are more powerful than some USB ports can handle. Generally, the USB powered speakers top out at a couple of watts per side. That is a 1 amp draw on the port. Sure, a lot of newer PCs and laptops can supply 2 amp, but manufacturers don't know what sort of USB port you are going to use, so they go for mains power when the speaker is getting into the 3 plus watts per side category. Cheers!
As an audiophile that has had DynAudio, Acoustic Research, Adam, KRK, Yamaha speakers and Nad, Rotel and even Maranz high end head units, amps and equilizers I can tell you that you are expecting too much from a low powered 3-way driver in a plastic cabinet. These are $70 USD speakers. They are beyond bottom of the barrel. From what I heard, they sound incredible for what they are. Great lows and mid-range. High end is a bit muffled as a 3-way usually is. But a change to the equilizer will help that. Anyone who wants the addition of Bluetooth shoupd check out the Z200 Logitech speakers. They also have 2 drivers per cab. They are only $10 USD more.
Well observed. I have both Z120 and Z150. There's nothing weong with Z150, in fact it's got really nice styling and a great charcoal colour. And the sound can fill a small room. But you are right - there's a bit of magic in the Z120. Side-by-side camparison reveals amazing accuracy of Z120 - no huff or puff or colouration. Z120's almost sound like small bookshelf speakers, and are pretty much on a par with the entry-level Creative Pebbles.
Yeah, absolutely. I own the Z120's and I've always found them to be quite superb for the price and size. At the moment, I actually have them bluetooth enabled with the Audioengine B1. This makes them sound even more freaking amazing than they did before. Streaming vinyl LPs to the B1 from a bluetooth turntable makes the Z120's sound high end, especially with the aptX codec being used. The Z120's almost sound like small high res speakers.
They have main external power so you can use the aux input to play music from your phone without being powered by your computer or laptop. Also it helps with power draw for laptops and allows them to get louder better audio with a separate power source
I consider the z200 the entry level logitech speakers, the z130/z150/S120 all the models lower than z200 a waste of money. I you live in the USA the budget speaker I've been suggesting is the Bugha sub/sat from "five and below" for $10 then using an USB port from a tablet charger, USB power strip, etc that's rated at least 2A (10 watts) - 2.4A (12 watts) which will easily smoke these speakers for half the price. I've seen similar offerings at about double the price on Amazon of USB powered speakers or sub/sats and I will recommend never power these from the USB port of the computer because it's too under powered. I think Logitech is offering z150 for $29.99 at this time, but for that price I'd suggest Creative Pebble, Edifier R19U, or Redragon GS500 Stentor or GS520 Anvil as well. If you don't mind a z200 knockoff then consider the Amazon F720US for a few dollars more.
This is perfect replacement for my old TV blown built-in speakers. The only thing I don't understand is the front jack with the music note. If there's already one male 3.5mm in the back?
i want to by something on budget ,like this ,but i don't listen to music , most want ti for movies ,and video games on PC .How are speakers for that ? Are the bass good for movie ?
I'm an Xbox one user with a thrustmaster racing wheel and recently my dad made me a racing seat for my wheel, with a place for my gearstick. I was looking for some speakers I can Bluetooth to my Xbox, plug into the mains and attach to my chair for a surround sound feel. Would it work?
Quite possibly. I found that sometimes the right speaker for me was working well and other times there was little to no sound. The left speaker is working fine. Could it be internal wiring problem?
Amazing review but why does no one ever tell the viewers how long the cables are in terms of metres, I would really love to know that too if someone could please help me?
I had a Panasonic SC-MAX 200 Sound system the 2080watt one with x4 12inch superwoofers ect man that things was fucking dope came out about 10 years ago that specific model is probably the best you can get and the sound OMG it was LOUD but CLEAR asf the bass was sooo incredibly smooth it was unreal never hear audio quality like it. They don't make em like that anymore it's always small speaker systems now. Sold it on but man definitely wish I kept it loved that fuckin thing went so hard at a party I put up one day a girl literally sat there on the sub coz she was getting off on the vibrations dirty hua but fck was a Minta system if anyone's looking for something that you WILL NOT REGRET buy it... If you have 1400 that is
They are £20, they work and do the job. But d not buy these if you want to listen to music or play games. There is *no* bass and the distortion is horrendous.
@@coreydk4860 This is probably really late, but nothing really, they're basic and average, they do the job of being speakers for watching RU-vid, but they're below average for music, especially at higher volumes.
if you stick your normal Inear headphones (Samsung, Apple etc.) in the 3.5mm microfon in the right box, can you talk via Teamspeak, Skype etc. ? :) If yes im gonna buy them directly :3
They sound terrible, I just bought them and they are shit, I had better for 5$, you hear that shitty noise and some scratchy sound on occasions, wtf better buy some headphones
